Product appears to be well designed and strongly built. DULL BLADES! The knife edge is slightly chipped on one end and very dull; it looks like it was hastily ground with a medium rotating stone which defined an approximate 15 degree angle. The opposite side has a well defined serrated edge which also appears ground, but not to a fine edge. Out of the package this would be of little use to me

 At one point the mandolin blades caught the glove but did not penetrate.  The unit is easy to clean; when doing that I discovered that the mandolin blades that pop up for doing fries or julienne are DULL. Sharpening the knife and serrated edges are relatively easy; to sharpen the mandolin blades will require product disassembly. Why is it up to the end user to do these things?  Dull blades are VERY DANGEROUS because they require unnatural effort and may expose the operator to the blades when the fruit breaks (instead of slices)

  Making sweet potato fries yielded new discoveries. This fruit is relatively hard and tough, so i expected some difficulty, and was not disappointed. Because of the shape, making long fries means pushing the potato by hand from the top; glad I ordered the recommended glove! When slicing, the sweet potato tended to climb upward in front, which meant the individual 'shoe strings' were still stuck together when they emerged (i.e

Although this slicer works as expected, it loses some points because the "built-in Julienne and French Fry blades" did not work for me as expected. The potatoes were not sliced all the way through when either blade was used, which was disappointing. I'd also completely re-design the "spring-loaded food holder," because it's useless and doesn't work. I threw it away as it was too big to be useful and took up too much room

 The waffle fry cutter makes chips only. It does work well with softer veg like zucchini but overall, somewhat disappointing.

Overall this is very good for slicing tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, etc. However, absolutely useless for fry/julienne slicing potatoes. Cross-cut and crinkle cut potatoes are simple but the design is a fail for fries. Be very careful if you attempt fry-cuts, and just invest in a fry cutter
