This spiral slicer uses a crank handle like that of an old-fashioned apple peeler, quickly churning out thick or thin strands or ribbons from apples, potatoes, beets, zucchini, and more. Vegetables can be up to 10 inches long or 7 inches thick. The spiral slicer makes a core in the food, so it doesn’t create whole slices as does a mandoline. But the setup couldn’t have been easier: All we had to do was attach the food to the prongs on the crank and turn the handle.  Push the handle into the zucchini as you turn the handle.  Update: changing my 5 star rating to 3 stars after owning this item for a few months. First, it is a major PITA to clean. If your eyesight is not good or if you're not very fussy, I suppose a bit of green on inaccessible places won't bother you

 I use it once a week, so its various flaws have become apparent. It does work for zucchini though. Meh. It's just OK

 I ended up chopping it with a knife. Forget using it with a crookneck squash, and I have yet to find a carrot that will work with this spiraler. I buy organic produce, so I usually have small carrots. I think you need to get a giant GMO carrot to work here

It hasn't happened to us, but If we banged in around a little more, or treated it as if it were a stainless steel appliance, it could easily happen.  As with so much I have found on the Paleo/SCD diet, not the cheapest alternative around...!  For $35 I consider this a good unit that will handles the job of zucchini noodle making very well

Also excellent is butter and garlic and parmesan--a quick classic!

 It was important to me to get nice long (as in 2-3 feet long) "noodles". and after you semi-master applying the right amount of even pressure, and get good at securing the veggies in the unit, this spiralizer is very good at making nice L O N G "noodles". Without securing the veggies well, or if you are lack in the pressure applied, you will get a lot of small 3"-4" noodle-ettes. Some may like this, but I wanted my zucchini to be very much like long strands of pasta

Works very well after a slight learning curve...!

  The slicer is extremely easy to use (I didn't read directions until AFTER I'd already tried it). It's quite easy to get your vegetable lined up and then you just apply pressure to the slide-handle with one hand while turning the crank with the other hand. Suction cups on the bottom held it firmly in place on my counter.  The unit itself is lightweight plastic

When a dear friend sent me a link to this kitchen gizmo, my first impression was that it was one of those cheap gadgets that look great on TV commercials but have little practical use once you get them home. Not so. I was very pleasantly surprised by the results and possibilities of this Paderno spiral vegetable slicer. It comes with three different blade options which each produce a different effect

 I'm in love with this thing. Yes, it makes beautiful works of art out of nature's more voluminous veggies, but don't forget that it also makes almost instant work of some of the more tedious food prep tasks, like getting super thin, uniform slices of onion, peppers, etc. I've owned this for a week and have used it every day I've cooked (that would be 5 days, thank you.) Grocery shopping is fun again

Like it a lot but it could use some improvements

I'm only going to give this 3 stars for now. Reason is that the plastic seems a bit thin/flimsy in places, and I'm afraid that overuse may break a couple things AND..

 The blades that cut in noodles or curly are fine, and I've done stir fry with things like zucchini and I've made homemade hashbrowns with it. Both turned out fine.  Cleanup is fine with a water spray extension on my sink. I have no dishwasher, so cleaning the prongs would be hard without the sprayer

  DISKLIKES - This spiralizer does not adhere to my textured glass counter top but adheres to the counter surface underneath--which is a disappointment to me. It also will not adhere to porous surfaces such as wood. - The spiralized vegetable goes all over the counter and it is hard to put a plate big enough on the other side to catch everything at least not with the limited counter space I have. - The instruction manual does not provide many ideas for use

The media could not be loaded. This product is a fantastic addition to the kitchen arsenal of tools, gadgets and gizmos. As an individual who has had gastric bypass surgery, pasta is a big no-no for me. I have tried a wide assortment of the "gastric-friendly" noodle supplements but just couldn't stomach them (pun intended)

 I was EXTREMELY hesitant, remembering back the the horrid "spaghetti squash" incident of '09. Following tips she found online, my wife used the Paderno Spiral Vegetable Slicer to make the "noodles" from the squash. The end result blew my mind and my tastebuds away! For the first time in what seems like an eternity, I enjoyed a quality spaghetti dinner and it was thanks to this fantastic gadget. Most of what I have to say is in the video, so I will spare you from having to read it here, but I have to take an opportunity to shout "THANK YOU PADERNO!"  This product would get a solid 5 stars from me, but the build quality is lacking a bit, I feel it won't hold up to heavy use for long
