 I'm not kidding. You are to use the power button to turn it off, then unplug the thing. Then wait for the flames to die down before you open it.  They want you to unplug the thing any time you are not using it even though it has a power on/off button

Amazon makes this easy - look up the order in your list of orders, click the button that says "return" on it somewhere, and they lead you through the process. Choose the free option and they will send a code to your cell phone

 Seriously? I can't start baking a potato and run to the next room to check on things, or run to the bathroom? Also, the timer for cooking goes less than half an hour. If you want to cook for longer (potato) you have to restart when the timer runs out. And they want you to watch when you are doing anything fast.  One thing you can't do is put in a piece of bread with cheese on it and do a quick broil to melt the cheese

 Don't put butter or oil on anything you put in it, or else wrap them up in aluminum foil, because otherwise the food could burn or catch on fire. Don't put the device within four inches of anything else, including the wall, because the heat could damage it or start a fire. You can't put paper in it, like parchment for cooking, or a paper tray for a taco, because it could char or catch on fire. Forget tacos, because the tortilla could catch on fire

Not for me

 They came out great - very hot. They did not crisp up or burn. I read the manual carefully, and "reheat" worked as it should have on the potatoes - hot but not browned. OK

It heats it up too much and the food can burn, or you can actually start a fire. I don't know why this wasn't a problem with the fries because I assume they were fried in fat. Maybe not

 Hi, I'm Megan Woolerton for CNET, and this is the Panasonic Flash Express toaster oven. What I really love about this toaster oven is the price and how well built it is for the price. It's $150. We found it for about $90 on Amazon, and it's just super affordable

 It will bake, it will toast, and there are individual settings for frozen hash browns, frozen pizza, and frozen waffles, but the damn thing won't top brown. If you want to make an open-face melted cheese anything, you have to place it on the provided tray and heat the top and the bottom by either the toast or the bake setting. The cheese melts, but doesn't brown properly. This leads me to my biggest complaint: for some reason (the infrared heating elements?) the outside perimeter of whatever is being toasted or heated cooks before the center does

This is not my grandmother's toaster oven. It heats quickly with its two infared hearing elements. For leftovers it works better than a microwave. Unfortunately, for all its cooking prowess, the controls are quite awkward

 Setting the time is a pain - one up button is all we get to scroll through the minutes. Leaving the button depressed causes the minutes to scroll automatically, but not always. To get to 25 minutes on the timer can take a lot of pushing. Speaking of 25 minutes, why is that the maximum time allowed? For bake potatoes, which come out great, I have to restart the oven after 25 minutes

Great cooking, awkward controls

 I don't know what it's made of but it helps to heat all the food that's in the center. So when I was looking for a toaster, I was looking for something that was small because it was going to go on my counter. I don't have too much counter space. I wanted it to be small and I also wanted it to not burn my toast

 You don't want to be checking on your food to see if it's done or not. I know it's tempting. That's what the little glass window is for, is for you to check and see how things are. So make sure you use that

 So fried chicken, fish, anything where there might be something that's dripping down because you don't want it to drip onto the heater below because one, it's going to burn and then two, it's going to make the heater dirty. So it's not going to heat as effectively if you have stuff all over it. Clean regularly. Use the oven tray or foil

Worked pretty well for a couple of months

 After much searching I finally found another bulb sold by the Panasonic company but the bulb is upwards of $25. Very disappointed with this product that for the price it only lasts less than 2 years. I am not buying the new bulb. I'll have to go back to my regular toaster oven
