 Like this camera is about two years old and I still got it for a bunch of reasons and I wanted to get into them in this video, so hope you enjoy. Okay so first of all it goes without saying that this is a very compact camera. I'm a huge fan of Panasonic Lumix Micro Four Thirds cameras and this is it's not the smallest there are smaller ones but this is by far the smallest one with 4k recording and I wanted to have a camera that shoots 4k b-roll. I wanted to shoot b-roll using this camera which shoots in 4k

Now it's very compact like comparing it to my Panasonic G7 it's I mean it's it's a very tiny camera also comparing to the GH5 that I'm recording this video with it's trust me it's really really small but this isn't fair because I haven't actually put in a lens yet. So one reason why I got this now in 2020 is quite honestly because there aren't too many 4k cameras with interchangeable lenses that is

 I got this kit lens the 12-32 it sort of extends that's kind of cool but I'm gonna make a review on this in a separate video but this is a you can get this for a pretty good price I'll try to find something I put a link below but I got this really cheap I think I got it something like $200 which is a steal if you think about it. Now it does not have mic input so if you need a camera with a microphone input this is not the camera to get I mean the Panasonic G7 it has a mic input so I would recommend something like that if you're not gonna need something really compact and this is the way to go. Now it does not have it does have a sort of a flip out screen like so but it's not the side flip out which I prefer this is actually my first camera where you know it flips up on the top and it's a bit different it's not bad I'm not saying it's bad but it's it's different that's all I'm saying. I got this camera because I wanted to shoot b-roll that was the main reason why I got it and I think it's very interesting to have very small DSLRs or mirrorless cameras with this size factor I mean look at it that like this this size is really really impressive you know it's not so nice to hold it doesn't have like a grip like on the G7 but it's small and again I can fit this in basically any pocket so I really like it

 Now it's very compact like comparing it to my Panasonic G7 it's I mean it's it's a very tiny camera also comparing to the GH5 that I'm recording this video with it's trust me it's really really small but this isn't fair because I haven't actually put in a lens yet. So one reason why I got this now in 2020 is quite honestly because there aren't too many 4k cameras with interchangeable lenses that is. I mean you can always get something you know like an action camera or even hybrid cameras Sony hybrid cameras and you know people go back and forth and they'll say stuff like you know you should get like a hybrid camera because you got stabilization and this camera doesn't actually have that but you can change lenses and that's why I wanted this. So it's two reasons one it's it's actually it's a it's a combination of a couple of things one it's the smallest mirrorless camera that shoots in 4k and you can change the lenses and it's compact which means I can I can fit this in a pocket easily

Why I got the Panasonic lumix GX800 in 2020

While the camera is compact for its features, it also sports extremely user-friendly ergonomics, with separate video and stills controls. Its best-in-class video creation tools include 10-bit 5.7K/60p shooting using the full sensor width, and 5.8K anamorphic recording in full 4:3 format

I really like my Panasonic Lumix DC-TZ90. It’s a small camera and the photos are good. And it’s not a very expensive camera.

About 10 years ago, I had a much beloved point-and-shoot Nikon that was my constant travel companion. When it broke, the replacement I got shot extremely subpar photos (blurry, poor focus, no point in taking pictures of anything far away, etc.) and I was too jaded to buy another.

For Christmas, I was gifted a Panasonic DC-FZ80 and while I appreciated it, it wasn't really what I was looking for in a camera, which is primarily something that will slip easily in and out of my pocket while I travel. I ended up returning it and my intention is to use the money to get something more in line with my previous Nikon, but I'm worried such a camera no longer exists. I keep reading articles stating that low-tier point-and-shoot cameras have been all but replaced by smartphones. While I could take the money from the camera and put it towards something like a Google Pixel that will shoot better photos than my current Nokia 6.1, I liked having my phone and camera separate from one another.

So tl;dr - are there any small point-and-shoot cameras in the £400/$500 or less range that would be worth buying/give me better photos than your average smartphone?

Do decent point-and-shoot cameras exist anymore?

 I think for the purpose of this, a second camera that I can take wherever I go, I can live with 1080 quality. Also there are no manual exposure control from this when you shoot video, that's not even a video mode, you just press the video record button and that's it, everything is auto. The only thing you can do is exposure compensation. And as a geek like me, I want my video to be the exact shutter speed I want

 The M5, M6 is brilliant for YouTube, they might not have 4K, but you know what, I can live with that because it's a small camera to take it with me everywhere I go. I feel like this is a big mix of opportunity from Panasonic, you know, this takes a lot of boxes to be a great, great YouTube camera, it's just missing the good OIS, manual exposure control for video. Short of saying, this could be a Sony RX100K, maybe the GX900, Panasonic?

 In PAL system, 24, 25 FPS, I want to shoot video with 1 over 50, uh, over second shutter speed. But good thing though, from a camera this small. Microphone sensor, people say about, oh, Microsoft sensor, it's just a tiny sensor, oh, it's so small, I can't use it. Not really, the low light is actually pretty good

 OIS is not so good. Now this camera don't have a built-in stabilisation, you have to rely on the lens OIS, and I only test with this lens because, I mean, I get this because of the size, so I don't want to put a big lens on it, it defeats the purpose, if I put a big lens on it, I better just get the G85, the Panasonic G85, a little bit bigger body, but it's got much more features. It said Mega OIS on the front of the lens, it's just, it's just not Mega enough. And remember I said this shoots 4K? It overhits as well
