So let's take a closer look, this pack may look unassuming, but its technical, the back panel, is molded and padded and all the cutouts give air flow

- I got the S/M and have a 15in torso, but the pack was still too large for me. The back of the pack came above my shoulder and hit the back of my head.

 I've probably hiked about 300 miles with this pack in the desert and then in the Florida jungle/swamp. I don't have a problem with the straps rubbing on my neck but even the S/M size was a little long on my torso. It takes a lot of adjusting of the straps to get a good fit and to get an even load distribution. The closer straps throw the load in your shoulders first

 Had to send back because of this. Additionally, thought there were not enough straps on the outside to hook things to. Hips straps were nice though.

Was excited to get a day pack this size, but found these straps to be way too narrow at the neck. Took this pack for an over nighter and was rubbed raw on my back neck and collar bones to the point of bruising. Had to send back because of this. Other reviews mentioned the straps being too close together, but since I'm quite petite, I thought maybe it wouldn't be a problem for me.  Unfortunately, it was.  The straps pinch right around your neck.  Perhaps if you always wore a collar, it'd be ok, but otherwise it will rub your neck raw

I've only used this twice and I'm still getting the hang of it and all the straps it has. I love the grip around my waist which makes it lighter on my shoulders.

Less weight on my shoulders

I just used this backpack for a week of intense day hiking in SWCO.  It was absolutely perfect. I tend to over pack in high altitudes so wanted light backpack with plenty of room but with only a few pockets (don't like backpacks with too many pockets). Loved the outer pocket that made it easy to access binoculars and rain coat in a jiffy

So, I got this pack when I saw it was on sale. Not the best reason,  I know. I was in search of a pack with a bit of room and could manage a 3L water bladder for longer mountain treks over the summer and this fit the bill. 

About the straps- yes. When you first put it on they hit the body pretty horribly however,  load it and adjust, adjust, adjust. It took a good 45 minutes of tweaking to get the pack where I wanted it and it stopped rubbing on my shoulders and neck. After that initial "what did I just do?" Panic
