If you want a nice warm tone then I reckon Maple is the way to go.  For your budget, might be worth checking out either the Tama Starphonic Maple or maybe a Pearl Masters Maple Reserve snare!

I've never had a wood snare and want to buy one. I currently have a Black Beauty. Recently I joined a project that is quieter and warmer than past bands/projects. Budget is 500. Any recs for my first one? I know this may be an obnoxiously broad question.

 The 10 inch in particular had a wonderful tone right out the gate. The floor tom perhaps is a little bit hamstrung by not having any muffling, but it certainly got some great tones within it and there's nothing that a tiny piece of tape or moon gel wouldn't immediately turn into a great floor tom sound. Budget is flexible as can just save up more if you recommend a more expensive pack, ideally don’t want to spend more than $3000
I am open to buying used, if there is anything in particular to look in terms of condition please let know.
The shell must be versatile, sound good and be able to withstand plenty of usage by heavy hitters in a studio environment.

Shell Pack for Studio Usage.

 So I've had the pleasure of playing probably every kit that Pro has to offer. My current tour right now, I'm touring with the Sessions Studio Classic, and I mean these drums are just, I call it a workhorse. Durable, great in sound. Now you have Masters, 100% maple shell

 And the thing about it is, is in playing all of these other drums, I love them, but coming back home to 100% maple shell is where it's at. First of all, I walked in the room and I was knocked off my feet by the finish. Man, oh man, the finishes are incredible. These are the creme de la creme

 You may have seen me on stage with artists like the Isley Brothers, Aretha Franklin, Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, some of those different guys. I'm very honored to be here at Pro Drums. Pearl Masters Maple Complete ft. Calvin Rodgers

All major manufacturers make lower to higher level drum kits so really it’s about sound preferences and cost based on wood type, metal vs wood, hoop types, number of lugs, depth, ply thickness and the main musical styles you’re going to play on it. But in general 20 lug, die cast hoops and a standard snare depth of around 5” -  6” are a good thing to shoot for a first snare. Personally I like maple and have a Pearl Masters Custom 20 lug maple snare and it’s been a beautiful sounding snare that won’t break the bank.

After months of practicing rudiments on a practice pad I want to buy my first snare drum. I like jazz and was thinking Gretsch, but I’m also a beginner and don’t have much of a clue. Any advice?

3 millimeter super hoops, which give a nice feel on rim shots and they really allow for that lower tuning. And they did some really unique lacquer finishes that I haven't seen before, but they're very tasteful and they're delivering them at a really great price point. So there's not much not to love about these particular drums. The toms are very creamy, they have a good amount of attack

 I like a lower fundamental note. I want to tune the drums as low as I possibly can get them and those drums really weren't as conducive to that. And it always made me angry because I was like, you know Pearl, you can make a great sounding maple drum set, how about one that works for a guy like me? Because I know there's a lot of guys like me out there and now they've finally done it and they delivered it at a price point that's super. So what we have is a 5

 So there's not much not to love about these particular drums. The toms are very creamy, they have a good amount of attack. As I was playing them I could just tell that they would definitely record very, very well. They feel good, the price is good, it's really a home run

 Can't tell what that Sabian is but I see another $750 to $1000 worth of cymbals. I say you could get $2000 for everything if you break it down, or you could ask $1500 for all and it should sell pretty quick.
