. so I have the reverb all the way up now. So I changed the settings a bit to get a more jazzy sound, give it a bit less middle and remove the boost. What I really love about this amp is that it's designed and built in the USA, that's probably why it's so expensive too, but it's worth every cent

 Also this light here is a bit seventies while the rest of the amp is trying to look fifties so that's also a point. Alright.

[QUESTION] Best $500 or under amp for a John Mayer tone?

Not a good modification and self-service platform!  Just FYI...

 You can hear it start to break up just a little bit. Now bring the volume down a little bit and I'm going to engage the boost. Moving over to the leak channel. We're going to start with the gain at a lower level

 We're going to bring the gain up to about 12 o'clock or 50% on the amplifier and I'm going to change over to the bridge pickup and you can hear what that sounds like Now with the game still at 12 o'clock on the amplifier. I'm going to go ahead and engage the boost you now on the lead channel. I'm going to turn the gain all the way up. You can hear what it sounds like on the bridge pick up and here it is with the gain all the way up and the Boost engaged you

 Expanding the capabilities of this amp are the effects look which is found on the top panel as well as the external speaker jack found in the back panel. You can use that to plug in an external 8 ohm speaker. The Guitar Center Exclusive PV Classic 30 is only available at select Guitar Center stores.

[QUESTION] Which amplifier do you recommend for less than 1000 dollars

 Now days I'm playing in a 7 piece band with a horn section and at rehearsals I use a 30 then when doing shows, depending on the size, I go from one 50 to sometimes 2. I recently bought a 20 MH and use that when rehearsing with just the rhythm section. I found the 20mh to have a much brighter over all tone. These little 20mh's are tone monsters with a vintage 30! I'll be buying more of these bad boys! I've switched out the Blue Marvel speakers in some with either the Vintage 30`s or the Cream back H75`s

. I'm so tired of seeing people who do not have a CLUE writing reviews, telling people that these amps cant go from country clean to EVH, Priest or even Iron Maiden heavy! They CAN and DO! I have the original 1991 series when Peavey brought it back and used the Tweed covering for the first time. I was a touring country/rock musician back then and was looking for something with a good sound for the smaller venues. What I found was a Fantastic sound! Completely different than the older peavey amps

I'm really happy with my Classic 30. I've only had it about a year, but no issues as of yet. It sounds great and looks good to boot. I dont think you'd have any issues getting that style of tone

It might be total preference but does anyone have any experience with these amps? It will my first proper amp purchase and I’ve narrowed it down to these two.

[QUESTION] Peavey Classic 30 or Fender Blues Junior for a John Mayer tone - which is best?

  I haven't recorded with it yet, but you get what you give recording a guitar amp, and I haven't gigged it yet, but based on years (decades) of experience, I'm not going to get the volume much past 4 even with a thunder-god drummer.  One con, no foot switch. I ordered one separately, but I love the amp, made in China or not, it's a keeper.

  That's the bad, the good? The amp is built like a tank, it's gorgeous if you like that tweed look, it's got tone for days, and it's loud. I have a Marshall TSL 122, a Mesa Rectifier, and a Mesa Express 5:50+ and they're easier to tame than this 30 watter. Getting "bedroom" volume may not be possible without using some pedals.  That's fine by me, this is an affordable gigging amp, I bought it to play, I can get clean country, crunchy southern rock, hard rock, and pretty close to metal tones without a lot of trial and error

 So depending on your need or your situation, if you're on stage and you want all the sound to project outward, you close it up. If you're playing in your house and you like that big open airiness of an open back cabinet, you could take that off and get a little bit more, you know, surround sound if you will. So this is the Classic 30 cabinet with the, look at that, metal corners, metal recessed handles made in the USA, USA Eminence drivers, got a rock solid cabinet right there, okay. The head actually doesn't go this way, it actually, let me see if I can tip it up, it actually kind of goes like that, but so you can see the controls, I tipped it that way

 So if you wanted to run the back as an open back, okay, you can. And if you want to seal it up and make it a closed back, you can. So depending on your need or your situation, if you're on stage and you want all the sound to project outward, you close it up. If you're playing in your house and you like that big open airiness of an open back cabinet, you could take that off and get a little bit more, you know, surround sound if you will

 So preamp gain, master volume and you can see right away I get some crunch, right, which sounds real nice, okay. So now, and now the gain, the preamp gain isn't pegged, so you got to hear what that sounds like, you know, without the gain being pegged, okay. So now let's fiddle with the controls a little bit more, let's see what the boost button does. Boost, boost the signal, okay, now let's see what this, let's really give it some more juice here, okay

 I'm using a Rico Junior guitar, a custom guitar, and with Seymour Duncan's and you guys tell me what you think, here we go. Okay, so that's just kind of right out of the gate, okay. So now what I'm going to do is, let me zoom in a tiny bit here, now I'm going to just turn that up a little bit and finger pick a little, kind of like that, right? Okay, nice and full. So now what I'm going to do is, I'm going to add some reverb, that's what I want to do next
