I love using anything with glycolic acid (TO’s glycolic, Pixi Glow Tonic) as a post-shave thing before I apply lotion. It makes my legs so smooth, and every time I use it on my armpits or bikini line, I never get any ingrown hairs. It’s awesome.

I have gone through my fair share of skincare and have lots of products lying around that never worked for me. I specifically have a bottle of epiduo that my derm prescribed a couple of years ago. I never used it much because it dried my skin out like crazy. 

Well anyway, I stained my white crocs while cooking the other day. Nothing I had in my home would remove the bright orange stain. I tried acetone and rubbing alcohol and neither worked. I looked through my drawer and found my old bottle of epiduo that stained all my towels when I first tried it out. I rubbed some of the epiduo cream on my crocs and let it sit for a few hours. Lo and behold, it removed the stain! 

It got me thinking, do any of you use skincare for other things other than its intended purpose? I had read on here before that someone used Mario Badescu drying lotions for cold sores!

[misc] Anybody use skincare for things they’re not intended for?

This toner is exfoliating and takes off dead skin cells, leaving your skin really glowy and hydrated! However, it has TONS of fragrance, at least 8 ingredients are simply fragrance! While it does a pretty good job, it has some potentially irritating and sensitizing ingredients that could lead to long term issues

AM: CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser, pixi Glow Tonic, Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 (freaking love this stuff), CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion

The first picture is from October. At that point I'd been using some Mario Badescu for a bit, but after lurking in this sub I started replacing each product with an alternative I found suggested in here. I have combination skin prone to breakouts and blackheads even though I'm pushing 40, plus hyperpigmentation and redness issues.

[Selfie] Depression is a real bitch when it comes to self-care, and my skincare is always hardest hit, but I've finally made progress against my all-or-none thinking and realized that missing yesterday's routine doesn't mean there's no point in doing it today. Here's to small victories!

  When I started using it, I used it every day.  Within a week or so I noticed my skin breaking out.  Little white pimples in odd spots actually.  Eyebrow area, cheek, etc

 Using low acid or nothing, then a strong peel 1-2 weeks has a similar yo-yo effect, where right after the peel my face will be an oil slick. I definitely write more on how I achieved this balance if anyone's interested.

(1) Added Differin to my night rotation. Now, I have a 3-day cycle: 1 night of plain hydrating toner, 1 night of exfoliant toner (Pixi Glow), and 1 night of Differin (over a hydrating toner). In reality, I don't follow a strict schedule but instead "ask" my skin how it feels each night, and just try to remember how recently I used Differin so I never go more than 4 days without.

(2) Added Vitamin C to my AM routine. After cleanser & toner, I use 3 drops of Glossier Super Pure mixed with 3 drops of Paula's Choice Vitamin C Booster and spread that on my face, neck & decolletage. Followed by moisturizer with, of course, SPF. 

(2) Every 2-3 days, I use Pixi Glow Tonic in my night routine. The moderate % of glycolic acid gives me a lovely glow the next day, it's ALSO moisturizing (with aloe vera juice - no oils!) and over time I have gone from chronically congested skin (no red inflamed zits, just lots boring blackheads) to..

My skincare journey has been going well the past couple of years particularly, and I’ve reached the point where I was recently able to take antibiotics off of my prescription as my routine has kept my acne at bay. I cleanse, moisturise, and apply sunscreen every day, while using a retinol every other night, so I feel content that I’m doing what I can to be preventative about premature ageing too.

The one thing I haven’t been able to address though, is the dull appearance my skin has, even when fully moisturised. It’s ironic because as a teenager I was so oily I had to blot constantly not to look like an oil slick, and while I still have an oily skin type, it always looks very dull and tired.

For reference my routine is:

AM- Cerave salicylic acid cleanser, neutrogena hydro boost water gel, eye cream, Heliocare SPF 50 facial sunscreen.

PM- same cleanser and moisturiser, the ordinary retinol (every other day), Benzoyl peroxide 5% gel on days without retinol.

[Routine Help] How do you achieve a healthy ‘glow’?

I loveee this product! It has definitely helped keep my skin clear and bright! The only down side is that the bottle is pretty small and a little pricey. I was using this with a cotton round and it seemed to be running out really really quick. I decided to take the spray pump off my empty Mario Badescu and put it on the pixi and it surprisingly fit! Now I spray it on my face and gently rub it in with my clean hands. It’s shocking how much product I am saving with the pump vs the cotton round! I highly recommend everyone tries it

I got this Pixi Glow Tonic on sale at CVS for $3! I’ve read great reviews so I decided to give it a try. (Why not? It was cheap!) I don’t have any skin concerns aside the occasional bumps/marks. My skin is normal/combo.

I bought This to help with uneven skin tone and complexion. I used For a while to test this product (on my own will, not asked to by anyone), and I noticed A big difference with my skin complexion. My face felt smoother, less dry skin, and breakouts! It does have a slight tingle/burn that does last for a second but feels refreshing on the skin! After i stopped using the product, I noticed My skin didn’t look as radiant and so i went back out to buy another bottle! Super cute packaging and great product especially for the price!

Aldi did a dupe of the Pixi glow tonic that I loved. I’ve used other brand name glycolic acids but the Aldi dupe just worked really well with my skin. A lot of skincare people get mad that Aldi so blatantly rips off name brands but that one product was great for me.

For example, Rite Aid's Daylogic brand has an Aquaphor alternative that has all the same ingredients but includes sea buckthorn oil, which I love. Are there other skincare generics you prefer to the originals?

[Misc] Generic products that are, in your opinion, better than the brand name ones?

Ok, so I love it so far but I only use it once day in the AM. Remember it is an exfoliant as well as a toner so you don't want to overdue it. I just started using it last week and I have a seen a difference in my skin (1) this wipes away dead skin cells and leaves the skin looking fresh so moisturizing after is necessary.
