 So from here you can tell it is a little bit too forward and all we need to do from here since these bolts are loose is just push this guy back until it's straight. In this case it'll be all the way back on the end of the arms. But from here this is as straight as we're gonna get with this rack and we can go ahead and tighten everything down again. Grab your four millimeter wrench and eight mil go underneath just like you did when you loosened them and just tighten them this time

 And these guys are definitely a little bit more inward than the mounts themselves. But this is totally okay. So standard bikes? Shut up Shooter! We just want to stretch these a little bit and you kind of just pull one and press the other and that'll widen these look up just enough to get you over there. It might still be a little close, but you can just stretch a little bit with your hands from here

 So clockwise when you turn your Allen key and tighten them as tight as they'll get. start on the backside and then we can move to the front and you'll notice as you tighten everything down that this arm starts to bend into shape and then once it really sits there it cold sets so that it will bend to shape this bicycle again. Just make sure these guys are really tight. Go ahead and double check all the rest of the bolts and once you make sure that all the bolts are tight throughout the entire rack and everything straight, you're all set from there

ASSEMBLING YOUR PLANET BIKE RACK

  Here's my original review:  I'm writing this to assure non-bike whizzes like me that this will probably work just fine for you. I know very little about nuts and bolts and the physics behind things like this, and so if it was pretty easy for me to figure this out (there are also brief instructions) then I think most folks will have similar successes. My bike is a '76 Raleigh (Super Course MK II, if you're curious) and I knew it wouldn't have the convenient attachment points of more modern bikes. I thought I would have to buy separate parts, but this came with two things that helped attach the top portion

  I realize that it's not completely fair to knock this as most bikes should be fine. But I couldn't get the top two levers to extend far enough to attach to my main frame via the u-shaped gizmo I bought separately for this purpose. So I think there should be more thought put into designing a bike rack that can accommodate bikes like mine. Thus knocking down two stars

Good for standard bikes, trickier for vintage bikes like mine.

 I documented detailed descriptions on a video. hope it helps! This is a very solid rear rack, far superior to the thin, flimsy rack my Fixie City Bike came with. It was shipped missing a couple of the screws, which resulting in an annoying visit to the hardware store for replacements, but otherwise I'm very pleased with the rack. It fit my new Fixie City Bike very well and is a very rock solid platform for my Linus Market bag roll up panniers

The rack itself seems very sturdy, and the directions included were fairly clear w/pictures. The rack appears well designed and I was easily able to transfer my rear reflector from my bike to the rack. However that was the only easy part of installation. My bike is a 1970s Schwinn Traveler, and does not have upper rack mounts

Good rack, insufficient hardware.

  I would not trust it with more then 25 lbs, which should be enough for my books, computer and commuting gear.  It will suffice for my needs as a commuter and for groceries, but I'd advise spending a little more for the next rack up if you plan long commutes or camping excursions.  And remember to cable lock the rack to your frame as these are easy to steal (this is a replacement rack for me due to such a theft).

Bare Bones, will work for most.

  The rack was significantly too narrow for afore-mentioned road-touring/commuter frame, but I managed to spring it out enough to get it outside the drop-outs, which meant the rack stays were at a noticeable angle to the attachment plate, making bolt tightening an issue.  Finally, for whatever reason, Nashbar chose to make the holes in the frame with an unusually large bolt size, for which I had a hard time finding bolts! Including a pair of M6 mounting bolts would have been a nice touch.  In all, i got what I paid for; it works, but not elegantly.

Cheap and fiddly, but functional

 I chose this design because it had the fewest number of failure points that I could see (unlike some of the more universal fit/adjustable racks on amazon)

So good the previous owner kept some parts!

Decent

The style of the arms and the style of my bike did not work together. I have a Raleigh FT1 Cadent Hybrid bike. I had to exchange for a higher priced rack with a little bit heavier type of metal that worked with my bike. However, I think I would've preferred the lighter weight of this rack

Didn't fit

I have had this on my bike now for over four weeks and I use it everyday. It was easy to mount and It gets the job done
