We'll show you in a little bit as well as calculator calendar gallery RSS news, etc. You can go to your settings up here at the very top corner That'll bring you to Wi-Fi account synchronization a bunch of languages you even have maintenance So you can do factory reset demo mode USB mode whether you want it to charge or not And you can you look for your software updates right there the bottom of the device has four buttons You have home back forward left or right or the more button and on the home screen The more button will actually drop the top down for you Reading is very nice on this device as well page turns work via swipe or tap or you can use the physical buttons down below And if you press and hold you'll see it starts skipping by tens This is their own fast page turn engine They have employed into the device if you long press on something you get some options up above you get highlight scribble Take notes look in Google export and you have dictionary So if we click on make a note, you'll see here's the keyboard

Pocketbooks support folder view, read everything, allow the installation of KoReader, and some have SD card readers.  I'll go check but I believe the Touch Lux 5, the Inkpad 3, and the Inkpad X will fit all of your requirement.  They also have physical buttons, if that's a thing you like.  Sizes are 6" 7.8" and 10" respectively.


Edit:  Clarification: The Touch Lux 5 has an SD slot.  The Inkpad 3 (non-pro only) has an SD card slot.  The Inkpad X has 32g internal memory (no sd slot).

Many people have made good recommendations so I won't add another in terms of readers, but one thing I'll recommend is keep your kindle associated with your Amazon account so you can de-drm books easily in the event you end up buying a book from Amazon in the future.

I'm really sad that Kobo axed micro SD support. 8GB on all the models now, and the Forma 32GB is nowhere to be found (at least not here in Europe). 

Still using an Aura HD, love IT very much.

I've only owned Kindles and looking to sever ties with Amazon. I think what I'm looking for is just about non-existent:

True E-ink e-reader (not a tablet),
Back light,
Folder view,
Micro SD card if under 32GB internal memory.

I've looked at a few options but without advice from someone who has been hands-on with a device, there is a lot of junk to sift through. File support doesn't matter, I have my collection in both Mobi and EPub, what's most important is the folder system. I have around 8k books all sorted into a nestled hierarchical directory (ie. Fiction&gt;Action&gt;Militarily&gt;Techno-Thriller or Non-fiction&gt;Historical&gt;Early American&gt;Pre-revolution).

Privacy and social issues aside, Kindle collections are absolute rubbish for larger libraries. I am good with Calibre and tried it on my tablet - but battery life on a tab when coming from a Paperwhite is an issue (I'm off-grid for a week or so every couple months for work).

Haven’t tried the Glowlight 4 but I really like my Glowlight 3! Solid hardware and the continued software support (Nook software isn’t as snappy as Kindle)

I've had a Kindle Voyage forever and the battery finally went caput yesterday. I saw the Nook Glowlight 4 came out last month and thought about getting it as I used to have an old Glowlight that I enjoyed. Does anyone have any other recommendations under $150? Preferably something relatively open (i.e. not a kindle). Thank you!

I am looking for a budget e-reader. I live in Germany. My budget is about 70€. I don't mind buying a refurbished reader or importing devices from asian shops like Aliexpress. Also I don't mind rooting, sideloading, custom firmware...

I don't like to use a closed ecosystem. I want to put my own e-books on the device. Mostly epub. PDF would be a plus. Backlight is a must. 6inch would be great. Features like note taking, bookmarks, text highlighting... are a plus but no must.

I Thought about buying a refurbished Tolino Shine 3 since in Germany it's easier/cheaper to find than an Kobo Clara HD. But I am open to other suggestions.

I also wanted to use custom Apps with my Tolino Shine in order to be free from their own ecosystem. What apps (especially for reading ebooks) would you recommend? Also what are other neat apps?
