 So I was expecting to see some improvement when I was comparing this watch to another watch like the Polar Grit X, but that was not the case. I typically get very good GPS signals from something like the Garmin Forerunner 745 and you can see here in this map data here that we're comparing the Polar Vantage V, which is kind of this dark red color, with the Garmin 745 in purple and then also the Garmin 945. And to me, I actually notice that the Polar Vantage V tends to kind of stray a little bit off the trail and really, you know, while the distance and everything like that is very accurate, I found that the Vantage V just isn't as accurate as I was expecting after hearing about some of the improvements that they made with that particular GPS antenna. So the really, the only thing it's just making me feel a bit more guilty about skipping those workouts

 And when we do the giveaway, I'll give you guys the option of picking between this white one and another black version of the same watch. Now I found the GPS accuracy to be accurate enough. One of the features of this watch is how they've incorporated the GPS antenna into the aluminum watch body. That should provide a better signal

 But the last annoyance that I have with this Polar Vantage V2 would be the price. This watch comes in right at $500, which I still think is really expensive for a triathlon watch. I know that a lot of triathlon watches have kind of, you know, honed in on this $500 range, but I'd still love to see more options in that kind of sub $300 range. OK, I do appreciate you guys have stuck around through this video

 And then they'll provide the user with kind of a ton of different metrics and a breakdown of when you used each stroke. I would definitely go check them out and just copy what they're doing, sort of, you know, you have to come up with your own algorithm. Polar Vantage V2 Review After 100 Days

So I’m finally at a point in my running where I think I need to ditch my Apple Watch 4 and get a “real” watch.

Context: running 50-72 miles a month (not a lot in general but a lot of me although I’m still somewhat slow 9-10 min/mile), 152 lbs, 50s. 

Got into running seriously 1-1/2 years ago and love it. I’m a bit of a data geek (into shoes, form, nutrition, training).

Looking for something that is reliable (recently got the Polar H10 HRM), run mostly by heart rate and sometimes pace. Trying to follow the 80/20 rule for aerobic/anaerobic (not quite MAF). 

I’d like the watch for GPS, heart rate tracking, training, recovery, battery life, and hopefully some running form feedback (l/r, vertical velocity, ground contact time, etc.) so I can improve.

I don’t listen to music or audio and looking primarily for the key features above. I don’t need superfluous bells and whistles.

Would appreciate advice between the models listed above. Or others. And why.

If I should be thinking differently and if I’m not quite there yet for a sports watch, let me know.

Coros Apex vs Garmin 645 vs Polar Vantage V2?

Good interface. God's size and as far as I can tell tracks sleep, fitness and activities accurately. Good amount of sport/exercise profile sto choose from and gives an informative breakdown of you activities.

Great fitness tracker

 With the weekly summary watch face view, this will display your current weekly training summary and if for some reason the week flips over and you haven't done any training yet for that week, it'll actually show last week's training history which is what's shown right here. So there's a color coded ring that shows you the portion of time training in different zones and then when you dive in, you can see your total training time, your total distance, the number of activities that you did, calories burned, time in each heart rate zone and then a history of your workouts. From here you can dive in to see the individual workout details like you normally would which shows quite a bit including some of the features that were introduced on the Grit X like seeing a breakdown of your energy used where it's broken down by carbs, proteins and fats. You'll be able to see your speed and other metrics like power zones if you use the power meter during your activity and then there's also the Hill Splitter feature that was introduced on the Grit X

 It was a pretty big deal just because it was Polar's first major wearable announcement in quite some time and today Polar is updating the Vantage V with the Vantage V2 that sports a new aluminum construction as well as some brand new features. So I've been testing the Vantage V2 out for quite a while now and I've got lots of data to share in this in-depth review. So I tested it for running, cycling, weight training and swimming just like all my other in-depth reviews but I'll also be going over all the new features of the Vantage V2 including some of the new performance tests that are specific for running and cycling. Polar Vantage V2 GPS Sportswatch // In-Depth Review

Polar Vantage M2!  This watch was exactly what the Apple Watch wasn’t — no annoying touch screen, long batter life (days), multi sport mode!

When I run I get sweaty, or sometimes it rains and watch touchscreens become useless. Even in perfect conditions they're hard to use while running!

It is getting hard to find a watch that you can just use as a GPS watch with a few other sports related features. I used to be a Garmin die-hard but I just looked at their website and it seems they've have gone off the deep end with touchscreens and useless social media features that actively degrade the utility of their watches for going for a run.

Are there any sports watch models out there that:

- use buttons only (no touchscreen)
- have longish battery life (survive a 15hr ultramarathon on a full charge)
- fairly simple UI (not a luddite but I don't need to get text messages and 300 other pointless services on my watch. I'll check my phone later thanks)
- look fairly nice (I managed to get a Garim Fenix 3 which is from just before watches jumped the shark, but its battery is now ageing and it would be nice to have something a little sleeker in appearance. The ol' Fenix 3 is a clunker, much as I love it).

The Garmin ecosystem has been having sales off and on this year (at least in the U.S.). Like others in this thread, I have -- and like/recommend -- a 935.   The 735XT is also well regarded (but less capable).

In addition to what you're looking for, it has a 'triathlon' mode which will time your events (including transitions) -- you hit the 'lap' button between each.  If you've seen the multisport graphics posted on here, they're often utilizing that feature.  Not all Garmins come with that.

Based on your price range, the Garmin 935 is probably the best option. It does everything you want and more. It’s lightweight and has great battery life. 
A used Garmin Fenix 5 would also be a solid choice.

Suunto 5 does all that and a lot more for $230 right now I think. I'd definitely recommend that heavily over the garmin's for that price.

 Hi I'm Lionel, this is Techloto and this is my review video for the Polar Vantage V2. I'll also be covering why I think it's absolutely necessary to have the Polar H10 heart rate monitor and it's that time again where I'll be doing a giveaway so stick to the end of this video to find out more about the Polar Unite giveaway. So the Polar Vantage V2 was released in October 2020 and practically after the first day of it being released people are already putting out reviews all over YouTube but this is my review after actually using it for two months. I've really tested this watch, I've taken it on four hour long walks just to see will the battery die after a while, will the data start to change up after a really long run or a really long walk

 So let's navigate through the watch and look at it's features, whether you're using the touch screen to scroll to the side or you're using the buttons the first thing you'll see is the activity section and on the activity section there's a percentage dial around the watch that lets you know whether you've reached your activity target for the day, I like that this isn't just based on steps but this is actually based on the amount of activity you've done during the day so that takes into account everything that you're doing, so if you have a day where you haven't had the chance to actually walk a lot but you've just had a good exercise session then your activity will reflect that, it's more about your heart rate and your calories burned and to see a bit more detail you can either tap the screen or press the red button on the right hand side, again you see your activity percentage but you'll also see your steps and you'll see your calories burned. I also like the fact that it gives you your active time, it would be great if they could get something on the watch that shows you what time of the day you were active, so that would give you a bit more of an encouragement to rest a little bit but maybe go out and plan your exercise a bit later in the day, that's the only problem that I have with that activity section but apart from that it's simple and it gives you a snapshot of what your day's been like. The next thing you see is our old friend the cardio load status, what the Polar Vantage V2 does is it records your activity over 28 days so that means you'll have the tolerance of what you're able to handle based on the last 28 days that's been recorded and you'll also have your strain that means what you currently do into your body with the exercises that you're doing. Based on these two numbers it'll be able to tell you whether you're detraining, maintaining your fitness, being productive or overtraining

 So the way it works is you just dive into the menus right here, and you go down to tests, and this is part of the new testing suite there. And you'll see like orthostatic test is from the past, leg recovery test, we'll talk about it in just a second, same with cycling test, and then running test. And the way it works is we'll go just to start, just to get right into it. And it's gonna tell you it's gonna do a warmup of about 10 minutes, zones one to three

 Now the Vantage V2, as the name implies, is the second edition of the Vantage series. You remember early this year, Polar announced the Grit X, which was sort of like a Vantage V2, and you'll see in just a moment, it's a lot like a Vantage V2, except it's designed more towards the hiking, outdoorsy type crowd, whereas the Vantage series is designed more for the endurance athletes. Now unlike the first time they announced the Vantage series two years ago, there is no Vantage M2, at least not right now anyway, it's just the Vantage V, the upper end of that series. Now what I'm gonna do in this video is go through nine brand new things on the Vantage V2, and all these things are really on the Vantage V2 itself, as opposed to things that came from the Grit X
