Poseidon triton. $650 excellent first road bike inexpensive enough that it’s not a big deal when in 12 months you want something nicer and will be able to make a much better more informed decision as far as geometry style etc. because you’ll be that much more knowledgeable. But nice enough that it’s actually a really decent bike.

Personally I highly recommend Poseidon Triton at $650 I believe that it is the best value for money new road bike available on the market right now. you can spend the rest of your budget on a helmet (I recommend a Giro Register, $60 with MIPS) , front and rear lighting (tons of excellent options out there but I like the Bontrager flare, Knog Cobber, and Niterider Sentry aero 260 rear lights and the Bontrager Ion, and Light&Motion front lights) and bib shorts ( https://theblackbibs.com/ ).

Personally I highly recommend the Poseidon Triton it is a fantastic bike and incredible value for money being only $650. Plus, in six months to a year or so when you do decide to get a new bike (and you will regardless of what bike you get now) you should be able to easily pass it on for close to what you paid for it.
