PRS SE Custom 24-08 Guitars - New Pickups, More Switches & MORE Tone!

So I've bean wanting to start playing for years but have bean putting it off for this and that reason, Im done procrastinating and want to buy my first to start playing. I've bean a drummer most of my life but know nothing about guitars really. Any advice on what should be my first would be super helpful

I like avenged sevenfold and as well as bands like plini and polyphia if that helps at all and I know I would be along way away from playing songs from them as a beginner but I figured I would throw that in there if it matters at all lol thank you.

[NEWBIE] New to the world of Guitars

First of all, delivery was amazing! I had the guitar in hand and playing within 3 days of ordering it. I love that the packing wasn't over the top with bubble wrap and cellophane all over the guitar. It was easy to unpack, clean and simple but well protected as it was delivered in a nice quality gig bag. I was over the top when I saw the guitar for the first time -- what a beauty! Next, I plugged it in and that first strum was heavenly! I'm an advanced beginner but I do have a good ear so this was such a beautiful sound

 I've owned a few Fenders (comparably priced) but this has the sound that I've been looking for... so rich!

 I think it's still in tune, it's still there. The strings needed some stretching but they're brand new strings but once they were stretched it's fine. It's a maple cap with a mahogany back, you can't really see the grain because they've sprayed it a solid colour. Apparently it's a maple nick with a beautiful rosewood board and the frets on it, the fret work is fantastic

 Hi everyone, Mike here. On review, we have this PRS SE Custom in a resplendent sort of tobacco burst really. The SE Custom is the Korean made PRS. It's the one that you can afford to buy to get on the PRS bandwagon

 But they work fine, it's not so essential. The guitar isn't going out of tune with the whammy bar, it's all sort of staying in. I think it's still in tune, it's still there. The strings needed some stretching but they're brand new strings but once they were stretched it's fine

 And and it's It's one of the best values out there on the market. Yeah, no doubt about it. we sell these guitars I sell them and I know that it's gonna serve the customer well. the guitar player well for many, many years to come

 but there's so much more that this guitar can do. Absolutely. because that's where. no matter where you are in your journey of tone and guitar playing, you know say say that you're coming in or you know, like that [Music] You know, if you're like me, you wasn't metal, it wasn't nothing when there's a kid, but at some point you discover Hendrix and steeper a bond and then you got to start doing

 Okay, alright and so it's a mahogany body with a maple cap. The standard is just a mahogany body, right? Alright, so that's where you. There's some savings in the production and In In In and being able to buy the guitar. But both of these guitars, whether it's a standard or the custom 24, feature the same pickup configuration, the same coil tapping in three weeks

PRS SE Custom 24 Review

I have been playing for about 15 years and consider myself to be a somewhere between intermediate and advanced guitarist. My go to (and only lol) electrial guitar is a Suhr Classic Pro HSS with a Maple Neck that i love to the moon and back.

Since I have only played the Suhr in the last few years, I have a weak spot for similar guitars and fear missing out on other awesome guitars. Therefore I am planning a new guitar purchase and am looking for something that offers a different sound/vibe/mojo to accompany the Suhr. Genre wise I am your typical blues/(hard-) rock and occasional Jazz enjoyer.

I would be glad if you could give me inspiration on guitars to try out to avoid that i just pick another strat.

Here is some general preference in order of descending importance:

- budget up to 2.000$
- Humbucker/P90 pickups
- not a Gibson fan due to numerous issues with tuning stability 
- set neck construction
- preferrably solid body

[GEAR] Which guitar to accompany a HSS strat?

 If you want to check it out/\s/in your part of the world, let's get into it/\s/ All right, let's kick it off today. I'm plugged/\s/into my Marshall Dsl40cr amplifier on the clean/\s/ channel to begin with, and then we'll try some/\s/crunch tones. Over to bridge in/\s/humbucker Mode to begin with/\s/ split coil. One of the great things about a Prs Se are/\s/the pickups

 Yeah, even on both, I still prefer humbucker/\s/mode It's just the way that I roll/\s/ and over to neck pickup. Let's try this beautiful split that actually sounds not too bad/\s/to my ear with a bit of drive. And lastly over to the Ultra Gain channel on the/\s/amp I'm also running a little bit of delay through/\s/ the effects loop. Thanks to the time delay from/\s/crazy tube circuits, here we go

 I then played i think last year's/\s/version of this which was the first run I've/\s/ made in Indonesia. I think it was the year before/\s/something like that, I didn't like it whatsoever/\s/ The switches felt a little bit on the cheap side/\s/and it just didn't feel like a Prs. They heavily/\s/ sort of painted the neck and all that/\s/kind of thing and I didn't like it at all/\s/ but this one feels really good. I don't think/\s/there's any difference between this and mine, so if/\s/ you're looking for a solid instrument, this would/\s/be right up there

 You can/\s/throw as much gain as you like at these pickups/\s/ and it still retains that clarity on the top end/\s/. Let's give this a shot. This is/\s/bridge pickup in humbucker mode. Yeah, alright, over to split on the bridge

The "Budget" PRS SE Custom 24 - Just Okay or Great? 🤔

Everyone's got a main guitar whether they admit it or not, and a fair few have stories.

Here's mine. It's an Epiphone LP Standard. The input jack can't be tightened much more than finger tight without the signal cutting out. The bridge pickup sporadically stops working until I scream at and fiddle with the input jack. I swear it's incorrectly grounded because it buzzes something rotten. There's a horrific amount of fret buzz and it's got loads of knocks in it. And to top it off whilst the humbuckers sound fine normally, when you coil tap them they sound more lifeless than the nearest graveyard.

Despite all this I almost always pick it up over my others, some of which are double the price and definitely play much better.

 It plays amazingly well. Um, it feels good. I think it sounds great. It sounds like a Prs um you know, has that kind of thing that they do
