If you don't need a Numpad, the best TenKeyLess budget mechanical keyboard we've tested is the Redragon K552 KUMARA RGB. This TKL board has a small desk footprint, leaving you with more space for notebooks or mouse movements. Surprisingly, it has full RGB backlighting that's customizable, which is fairly uncommon for cheap mechanical keyboards.

This keyboard only comes with clicky Outemu Blue switches, which provide a satisfying audible click. Also, the typing experience overall is decent, as the keys feel stable, and the keycaps feel nice to the touch. It also has a Windows lock feature, so you won't accidentally minimize games or media by pressing the Windows key.

Unfortunately, the click of the switches doesn't align with the actuation point, which could be a bit odd if you rely on the click to know when a key's been registered. The switches are heavy to press, meaning you might experience fatigue during long stretches of use. Also, its latency is pretty high, so it's not a good choice for playing fast-paced FPS games. With that said, it's a good choice if you're looking for a starter mechanical keyboard with a smaller form factor.

TechGearLab

The tenkeyless Redragon K552 uses Outemu Blue Key mechanical switches. For gaming applications, we found the Outemus to be superior to rubber domes switches, though less consistent from one key to the next when compared to Cherry switches. The keys are backlit and the unit comes with 19 preset light modes. Of these presets, 8 light modes are color-coded to gaming-specific key groupings. Additionally, one can customize which keys stay lit and save them to one of two profiles. 
Unfortunately, the K552 does not have supportive software and it lacks stand-alone macros keys. Additionally, there are no dedicated media keys, USB passthrough ports, nor a palm rest. That said, the model has 12-key rollover and relatively compact dimensions &#40;13 15/16" x 4 7/8" x 1 1/2" &#41; given the hardware it houses. Overall, we feel this model balances size and performance well, especially given its minimal price tag.

My 1st mechanical keyboard was the HyperX Alloy FPS RGB with Speed Silver switches. I bought it used on ebay but unfortunatly it only lasted me 1 month. Then i had massive keychattering problems. It would type 2-4 letters at once with one keypress so it was pretty much unusable. So i have been using an old Fujitsu keyboard from then on. 

If I win I'd go for the Epomaker EP84 because i love the layout and the looks.

From there the obsession continued and I bought a Keychron K6, but am really currently obsessing over a Rama Works M60-A. Not sure why, I just find the thing gorgeous!

My first board, right years ago, was a Razer Black widow... I didn't know much about keyboards then, only that I really enjoyed typing on a Model M in my computer science class.

Now I'm using a Keychron K6, and dreaming of custom builds in the future.

My first mech keyboard was a ducky one 2 tuxedo tkl, which is still use today! (Cherry MX speed silver switches) I soon want to build a custom keyboard :)

Only a few months ago I bought a Razor BlackWidow Elite (Orange switches) after my REDRAGON blue switches broke. It was a good change though, since the blue switches were so loud I basically woke up the entire house every single night gaming! 😀 

For keyboards that I'd want to get, I was hoping to get a really awesome brown switch (full size if possible) keyboard to get a full experience of what MX Brown switches actually feels like, since I have this Orange switch and it works fine,  I guess. Nothing mindblowing.

So I'm either looking for something a bit more "clicky" and responsive, or pure-quiet for late night gaming, while still having a distinct tackiness "click" every keystroke.

[GIVEAWAY] This community got me through 2020, it's time to give back!

 You can get an off-brand or try to do something yourself and you might be fine, but I picked the Cherries so I'd know what I was getting. The Kumara came with a keycap remover, so all I had to provide was the rings and a pair of modeling tweezers to slip them on with. The rings keep the keys from bottoming out and clacking against the keyboard body, which was the source of the truly clamorous clatter.  2

  3) The keycaps are easy to remove and seem like any basic hot-swappable cap, and the switches aren't soldered in, so I presume it's possible to swap them as well. (Note that I'm not sure how the fact they are proprietary plays into the ability to repurpose them or whether that affects what the board accepts.)  In conclusion? It's not a perfect keyboard, but it's perfect for me for the price. Worth a go if you're curious about mechanical keyboards, don't care about noise, don't mind a few extremely simple modifications, or just want something to tinker with

 O-rings, specifically theCherry MX Rubber O-Ring Switch Dampeners Blue . The blues are more noise dampening than Cherry's red. You can get an off-brand or try to do something yourself and you might be fine, but I picked the Cherries so I'd know what I was getting. The Kumara came with a keycap remover, so all I had to provide was the rings and a pair of modeling tweezers to slip them on with

 I pulled apart some cotton balls and stuffed them inside the larger keycaps to reduce open spaces that resonate. The difference is barely noticeable, which is why I only worried about the larger keys. But it's a little something if you want to go that extra bit. One of the other reviewers took the case apart and inserted foam columns, which would probably do even more

My name is Takoyakeys and I'm a YouTube content creator. I joined this community in August 2019. Aside from a few bumps in the road (cough) ... this community has been nothing but welcoming, amazing and kind to me.

My first ever YouTube subscriber was the now up and coming Hipyo Tech (congrats on your growth dude, amazing!), and he was even kind enough to make some desk mat renders for my web storefront ... and in my early days Geonworks sent me a branded metal keycap out of the kindness of his heart (it's on my Tofu 65 right now!). 

And eventually when I made a post of a few one-off branded desk mats on my Instagram, the amount of interest it gathered was really surprising. People were asking me when a group buy was going to happen... I kept telling myself maybe when I'm a bigger name in the community, and other excuses but people kept asking me about it.

I couldn't believe people wanted a desk mat... with my logo on it? It was humbling. So I said "all right, let's see if we can make this happen."

I started by running 2 interest checks on which designs and colors people would want, and then I tried to see if a proxy could help me with the manufacturing, costing and logistics... but since it's not really a universal design and it's some random brand from some random dude in the community, I could see how that wasn't too appealing to them.

So I decided to do it myself. Negotiating with the manufacturer, setting up a Shopify store, registering as a business, figuring out packaging, shipping materials, etc. And after many hours and late nights spent getting everything in order, here we are today, with the website/group buy now live!

And to celebrate this awesome community and to celebrate the launch of the Takoyakeys desk mat group buy, I'm giving away one desk mat of the winner's choosing!

 The case itself does feel pretty hefty a non-detachable cable, but at least you've got this protection right here so that your cable won't just break off if you handle it too. Difficultly. Looks like on the back: despite being a budget keyboard, we do have two feet and then you have two rubber feet. There

 And at times I forgot it was even only a $ 35 keyboard.. The 10 keyless size is really nice and compact. On Amazon

 If you're on a budget - and you need a mechanical keyboard, this is pretty much the best option out. There. No doubt about it.

 As for a typing experience, the K552 offers a relatively good experience.. Now there is a little bit of spring ping, but over time I expect that to go away as I wear the keyboard in. Now under the larger keys, such as Backspace Enter Shift and Space
