If you don't need a Numpad, the best TenKeyLess budget mechanical keyboard we've tested is the Redragon K552 KUMARA RGB. This TKL board has a small desk footprint, leaving you with more space for notebooks or mouse movements. Surprisingly, it has full RGB backlighting that's customizable, which is fairly uncommon for cheap mechanical keyboards.

This keyboard only comes with clicky Outemu Blue switches, which provide a satisfying audible click. Also, the typing experience overall is decent, as the keys feel stable, and the keycaps feel nice to the touch. It also has a Windows lock feature, so you won't accidentally minimize games or media by pressing the Windows key.

Unfortunately, the click of the switches doesn't align with the actuation point, which could be a bit odd if you rely on the click to know when a key's been registered. The switches are heavy to press, meaning you might experience fatigue during long stretches of use. Also, its latency is pretty high, so it's not a good choice for playing fast-paced FPS games. With that said, it's a good choice if you're looking for a starter mechanical keyboard with a smaller form factor.

For an inexpensive keyboard with mechanical switches, check out the Redragon K552 Mechanical. This gaming keyboard is tenkeyless and uses Outemu Blue Key mechanical switches. These switches are far superior to rubber dome switches. Although, they can be less consistent between keys compared to some switches. The keys on this board are backlit and come with 19 lighting presets. Eight of these presets group keys by color for gaming-specific organization. You can also customize which keys stay illuminated, and save these settings to two different profiles. It also has a 12-key rollover. 
The K552 does not have any software to support it, though. It also doesn't have any standalone macro keys, media keys, USB passthrough ports, nor does it have a palm rest. This mechanical gaming device balances size, performance, and price. If you're looking for a mechanical keyboard that won't break the bank, check this model out.

 The Kamara features a metal and ABS construction. The keyboard feels weighty and robust with a metal top plate and plastic bottom piece. I really like the compact frame of the Kamara. There is no wasted space and it has a very sleek look

 The Redragon K552 Kamara is one of the best selling keyboards on Amazon. It's a TKL board that comes with clicky blue switches, but you can also get it with the red switches. I've always been impressed with the Redragon's bang for buck peripherals, and the Kamara is another excellent budget board. At this price range, I'm always worried about flimsy build quality, but that is definitely not the case here

 There does seem to be software for the Kamora, but after a long struggle with compatibility modes and the keyboard not being detected, I gave up on installing it. Definitely something Redragon needs to work on. It shouldn't be such an arduous process trying to install software. The Kamora is currently going for around $40, which is an absolute steal

 F1 through F12 are your media controls if thats what you're looking for. Overall, I recommend this board by far if you want something clicky, tactile, and loud. If you want a similar feel but quieter, take a look at Browns and other switches. Oh and it does not bend, quality is top notch for the price, and I'm not saying that as if you should expect a compromise in quality, this is a fine product and worth every dollar

 Lighting level is adjustable as well. So far, for the price, I'm beyond satisfied. I mentioned this in another review, but you can not go wrong with Redragon if you want to avoid paying double, sometimes triple the cost for a good key board. One tier adjustable height with legs, built in cord board side, but there's screws so I assume you could detach the cable from the board if you so choose

 The RBG choices are plentiful and beautiful, from solid colors to rainbow, and even changing direction, you can't go wrong if you like colors. The key caps themselves light up, as well as a boarder around the keys. Lighting level is adjustable as well. So far, for the price, I'm beyond satisfied

Great budget mechanical keyboard.

 The case itself does feel pretty hefty a non-detachable cable, but at least you've got this protection right here so that your cable won't just break off if you handle it too. Difficultly. Looks like on the back: despite being a budget keyboard, we do have two feet and then you have two rubber feet. There

The Most Popular Keyboard EVER

Hello. I'm new to this community. Until 7 days ago, I couldn't tell the difference between a membrane keyboard and a mechanical one, simply because I didn't know such differences existed. 

However, I spent the last week reading and watching content about keyboards, a lot. Now the exorbitant prices make sense, and I find myself at a crossroad of sorts. 

I'm a writer. I spend a lot of time typing away on a word processor. And since I'm going to be typing away for the rest of the my life, I feel it would be wise to invest in a mechanical keyboard and complete my home office setup.

Here's the problem. Since I'm new to this stuff, I rely solely on blog advice and reviews to make a purchase decision. And it comes down to three options for a typist: red, brown, or black switches. 

Here's my question: as passionate veterans in the mechanical keyboard community, what would you recommend for me? I type for over 6 hours at a stretch and I have big hands. 

What I've learnt:

1) Red - not tactile, but has the smoothest, lightest feel when typing. Good for long use and speed, not good for typing feel

2) Brown - best for typing and gaming. Low noise, slightly lower force required, and the perfect tactile feedback for typists. Good for speed and doesn't tire the fingers out. 

3) Black - not much info, but heavy, has really good feel for typing, not loud at all, but can hurt fingers after long use.  

4) Cherry MX &gt; Gateron &gt; Kailh &gt; Outemu 

5) BLUE SWITCHES ARE EVEYWHERE 😭

Please feel free to correct me (if I've gotten something wrong), and recommend what you feel is the best switch for a writer. I would also love if you could recommend a few keyboard/brand options, preferably pre built because I'm looking to buy and use out of the box, immediately. I've a budget of about USD60, but I'm based in the Middle East so many US specific options are unavailable. 

I've checked Amazon and other e-commerce shops, and RedDragon seems to be the best fit till now. Specifically, Yama K550 (not a fan of the size though) and E-Element Z88. I also plan to check the local stores though, in a day or two. 

If all else fails, I might just buy the RedDragon Kumara K552 with Outemu blue switches (not the best for typing I hear, but readily available everywhere)

Best Keyboard Switch for Typing: Red v. Brown v. Black

Solid build quality and very customizable. Pretty much everything except for the PCB can be replaced. Blue switches are very clicky, though the larger buttons can feel a little mushy at times. That is perfectly acceptable though, I don't expect high quality stabilizers at this price point

Great budget mechanical keyboard!

 I'Ve had a Black Widow tournament Edition for the past six years, I'll bring it out right now. It looks and it feels awesome razor is just such a high quality company. Here'S mine! Oh here's, how it sounds so, as you can hear there is no ringing in here at all: it's a nice quality keyboard. The only downside is that it doesn't have any back lights

 But we recommend that, for about $ 20 more, you can get a keyboard with a much nicer, build and better quality switches out as well, and that is the black widow X tournament Edition right now with no backlighting. So there are some trade-offs here. It goes for fifty six dollars right now, so 20 dollars more and it is just as clicky. It has a guaranteed eighty million keystrokes, the high quality keyboard
