 I’m 5’4” and 125 and bought an XS which fits well. if I really had my druthers, the sleeve cuffs would pull down a little more and would have thumb holes.

I love the retro feel of the walrus color and the jacket style. There’s a few strange things about the design: the pockets seem to be set about an inch or two too high (not at a natural place) so I always fumble to get my hands into them, and the pockets are vertical (so you put your hand inside and the pick pouch goes straight down - again, an awkward unnatural design). I’m also finding the hood fits weirdly. I have a very small head (ie I but children’s size glasses), but even so the hood needs to be about a inch longer so it pulls all the way forward and gives an edge of protection

The way the hood is, it’s not as puffy/filled as the main part of the coat (its thin) and its cut so short that it doesn’t function as well or keep you as cozy as other jackets I’ve had. I’m a bit bummed by these things

Great color/style, some awkward design

I tried the XS and S. The sleeve were too long in both sizes and while the body of the coat fit better in the S, it was too long, the shoulders were off and the waist sat a bit lower then where is was supposed to..all the typical issues of needing a Petite size

Bought this in green, size XS although I wear S in most other national brands, but in discussion with a REI rep it sounded a good idea to get the XS because it runs large.  The good things are:  It is very warm; wore in mid-20s with only two cotton layers underneath and was toasty; color is a rich forest shade; it's lightweight; pockets are deep and ample; zipper very effective; decent hood; and it is slightly fitted at the waist.  The reasons I'm not giving it 5 stars are:  The lining/facing in the snap-flap is very thin, should be a thicker flap; the snaps are not centered, more to the edge, and they are very hard to close; the little yarn pulls for the bottom side zippers swung about as I walked, had to remove; and wearing a scarf, it doesn't zip up fully, seems made to be worn without a scarf at the neck.

Very warm, but...

This coat is seriously warm, high quality, and a great deal as far as poofy coats go. I'm 5'4, 130lbs, and ordered a size small, which gives me plenty of room to layer underneath the coat. I love that there is an inside sleeve/liner that makes it impossible to get snow up the arm or around the wrist. I do share some of the same suggestions as other reviewers: I wish the snaps were centered and more substantial (they seem cheap as far as snaps go although I've had no problem using them), that there were inside pockets, and that the coat was more fitted or had a draw string on the interior

 It also has a rather unpleasant odor that I’m hoping will dissipate. Otherwise, what can I say? It’s warm as heck, comfortable, good length, love the hood. I’d like to order a medium to compare, but since a big winter storm is heading our way, I may just suck it up and commit to wearing a coat that is a little bigger than I’d like. If it keeps me warm and dry, what more can I ask?

I'm a substitute teacher who is often assigned a recess duty as part of my workday. After using the same parka from another brand for 10 years, I needed a warmer coat with either side vents or a back vent. This coat fits my needs and I look forward to a warmer time the rest of this winter and the next (hopefully) 10 years of use.
