I started with a Porter 46 as well several years ago. After trying a few different bags I'm currently using an REI Ruckpack 28 and really dig it. YMMV though as hiking capability was more important to me than things such as a clamshell opening. I also really liked my GR1 slick from Huckberry but the...

I think a backpack I recently got may be perfect. REI rucksack 28. They have a smaller option too but honestly the 28 isn't very large in height. 2 water bottle pockets as well as an integrated rain cover!

Other alternative is a mountainsmith world cup backpack. Huge side pockets that can hold a ta...

I'm 5'2'' and love my REI ruckpack 28. It doesn't have a clamshell and I just use a packing cube that goes right in. I've tried other bags from patagonia, tom bihn, osprey, etc but I always come back to this one. It's been with me to 30 countries and is still in great shape!

Someone did an video review on the REI Ruckpack 28L and he wonders why the laptop/water bag compartment has a false bottom but not padded.

> Bag - Decathlon Forclaz 40L (less than $40). Previously I was happy with the REI Ruckpack 28L

How are you liking the Decathlon bag? I looked at it in store and thought the design was pretty cool, but the materials felt a bit flimsy compared to other bags (including REI). But if it works for you ...

I was at an REI and took a long hands-on look at the [REI Ruckpack]([URL REMOVED] and was impressed by the look of it - never used it though so you should go to an REI if possible to see for yourself. I was looking at the 40 liter and there were built-in hip pads rather than the little strap of the ...

REI Ruckpack 18 will fit what you need, but if you want airline travel, go for the 28. Once you tape the straps down where you like them, it's a smooth black nylon bullet with excellent features and protection for all your goods. I bought a Ruckpack 28 a few years ago and it's a wonderful bag fittin...

REI Ruckpack 28 Review (Initial Thoughts)

So, let's zip it all up and there's one last feature that kind of goes towards the outdoorsy nests.

I typically do edc/road trips/overnighters and travel internationally for any length of time with the REI Ruckpack 28L. That being said, I was recently looking at some of these bags as options and I would probably go for one of the Aer options. I just wish the carrying handle was removable, though. ...
