Hi One hour Smart Home here and today we're going to review the Ring Video Doorbell Wired, which we've got installed right here. And what makes this particular Video Doorbell unique is that it comes in at the lowest price point of any of the ring doorbells in the ring lineup. So I've had this installed for about a week and I'm just gonna give you my thoughts comparing it to some of the other ring doorbells and the Ring Doorbell that I've had installed long term in my house. So there are a couple of catches that come with this Ring Video Doorbell Wire that you should know about

 But the disadvantage is unlike the Ring Doorbell 3 or the base model ring Doorbell, it is not battery powered. It must be hardwired and that is how it powers up and able to transmit video in connect to your Wi-fi system. Now the other unique catch of this video Doorbell is that it does not work with your existing chime. So when you install this doorbell, you have to put a jumper cable across your chime in order to provide the necessary power to power up this ring video doorbell wired

Ring Doorbell Wired Review 2021 Version

The wired Ring Pro is better than any of the battery powered devices in my opinion. There’s no down time for charging, and features are generally enhanced compared to the battery devices. It’s constantly recording a few second loop, so you see around 5 seconds of footage from before the motion activation (Pre-roll in colour).

I'm interested in joining the Ring community and I was wondering how do the releases work. Is the Ring doorbell 2 an updated version of Ring doorbell 1 or is it a whole new other line? I'm only interested in getting the classic Ring doorbell 1 but there is only a 2020 release. When do they usually release the current year's model. Should I sit and wait for the release or should I just get the classic Ring doorbell 1 right now?? Really confused how Ring releases work???

New releases on Ring Doorbell

  It's response time renders it useless for seeing and talking to visitors and delivery people unless you have it set to automatically interrupt you with video every time someone shows up. When it only alerts you, it takes so long to get an alert that often they are long gone before you can even activate the live view. I often leave my house and get a block and a half away from my house before I get the alert. Sure you can wait a few minutes and see who was there in the history, but by then it's too late to talk to them or say something like get away from my car, or I'll call the police

 It was not easy to replace an old one with another new one. I think it was easier to set up the very first one the first time.  This one is only good for identifying people I know and can already recognize easily. Rather useless for showing the police a picture of who is breaking into my care 15 feet away, even if they look at the camera.  Even so, at that price I think I'm getting what I paid for.

Not quite as good as my last Ring Video Doorbell but still worth it at the price

The device was still operable; pressing the button rang the house doorbell chime. The app said the device's health status was Offline; the last reported Signal Strength was RSSI-58. I attempted to reconnect the device to my home's WiFi by pressing the button on the side of the device. Like during the initial install, the app prompted me '"Ring" Wants to Join Wi-Fi Network "Ring-xxxxxx"?

 In the meantime, I have a few wireless gadgets that support Ring notifications so I can still hear when someone is at the door. The picture is nice and has a fisheye effect to widen the field of view. The two-way audio works well and has been very clear. Another negative is that you have to pay for a subscription to access anything other than live video once the free trial is over

Nice Picture / Won't Work Mechanical Doorbell

I think this is a big win if dgreif can get this added, I'm patient, I love the Ring Wired doorbell, its cheep, small and looks good, but I'm paying $5/month per camera on Ring, when I can pay $4 to Apple for 5 cameras.  I bought this to monitor for nighttime vandalism of the fence along the sidewalk and for theft of hanging plants on my porch. It will do the latter but not the former. Also disappointed that you can’t use 2-way audio to converse with someone who rings the bell UNLESS you also set it to record the audio of every person passing by (and all the accompanying city noise). You should be able to override the audio privacy setting for someone who actually rings your bell

 But overnight, if the sun goes behind a cloud, or before the sidewalk is in full sun around mid-morning, the motion detection distance cuts to about half. Great in broad daylight

So, I went ahead and tried installing a [Ring Video Doorbell Wired](https://ring.com/products/video-doorbell-wired) with the [Ring Pro Power Kit v2](https://ring.com/collections/accessories/products/spare-parts-for-video-doorbell-pro) that comes with a Ring Video Doorbell Pro to allow the wired doorbell to work with your existing chime. Verdict is, no luck

My husband and I are ordering a two back of wired indoor cameras but also want a doorbell. Which would you all recommend and why? Our neighbors have the cheaper one and say it works great. The only difference i see is the rechargeable battery pack.
