 So have they changed the search capabilities? Have they made them better on the new Roku Ultra? I'm happy to report it has. After numerous search tests using the voice interface, it was reliably able to find what I wanted all the time and using that voice interface either by pressing the voice search button on the remote or just calling to the Roku Assistant was super convenient. On the wireless side, the Roku Ultra doesn't support WiFi 6 or 6E, though this is still kind of a newer, emerging, upgraded WiFi standard, so I'm not going to deduct points just for that. Here you get the WiFi 5 standard and it is compatible with 5GHz WiFi networks

 It can also handle HDR10+, which is a technology that aims to better replicate colour and light and make it true to the original source media. Roku made a point of letting me know that the search features on the new 2022 4K Roku Ultra have been improved. In one of my earlier reviews of a Roku product, I found the search capabilities somewhat lacking. Sometimes it was good at finding what I was looking for and other times it was like I was speaking a different language

Roku Ultra 2022 4K Review: Is This The Easiest TV Streamer Ever?

  The Ultra's remote uses a non-replaceable internal LiPo which needs recharging frequently (as it's always listening for your voice) and makes it throw-away when the battery goes bad; Stick remote uses undersized AAA batteries which also drain quickly.  Stick protrudes far from the TV and doesn't come with any angle adapter.  Stick also uses a special USB power cable containing an internal antenna, making it cumbersome to unhook from my TV to bring when traveling.  Ultra's HDCP is overly sensitive and disabled video output intermittently when a Monoprice 90-degree HDMI connector was attached (without a 90 bend adapter my TV couldn't be flush with the wall)

 They only last a couple years on average so set your expectations accordingly. Thankfully, they're so inexpensive this isn't a big deal. -Out of the box there were all kinds of problems with the unit locking up and not turning on as well as the remote losing it's pairing. After researching it this turned out to be a common problem that is resolved by turning off the automatic power saving option buried in the settings menu

Hardware simply can't handle top tier 4K HDR content

 When streaming movies – especially in scenes with music (Purple Rain, for example) – sound would cut in and out every 5 to 15 seconds. It ruined the viewing experience. I have quite a bit of experience with audio systems and cables, and spent hours trying the many recommendations found online from the many people who have suffered the same problem. None worked

 The app and system menus are necessarily extensive but still intuitive. The video quality is better. The sound quality is better and solved my problem of sound cutting in and out.  Before detailing the sound issue the Roku resolved, though, here are just a couple of things I would have liked to see with the Ultra 2022:  Put glowing buttons on the remote :-) I would have gladly paid $20

  First, though, how the Roku is also better:  The system and app response is faster. The app/channel options are greater and seemingly endless. The app and system menus are necessarily extensive but still intuitive. The video quality is better

 I purchased the Roku to hopefully resolve an incredibly annoying sound problem and where I was confident my SmartTV was to blame. The Roku absolutely solved it and proved I was right, and I’ll give the details on that further below in case it might help any of the many who have had similar problems.  First, though, how the Roku is also better:  The system and app response is faster. The app/channel options are greater and seemingly endless
