Roland FP-90 Digital Piano Review

 Ive had a Motif 8, Triton Pro X 88, and most recently the Yamaha KX-8 (got it used for like 300 like 10 years ago). I was going to splurge and get an expensive keyboard, for the "feel". I was eying the RD-2000, Korg Grandstage, Roland FP-90X, Nord Piano 4 etc. I thought I was going to have to pay at minimum around 2000 to get into the nice keybed space (PHA-50, RH3 etc)

This is my dream come true (a top-line keybed for lowest price possible). The oboard sounds are pretty ass, but I dont use on-board sounds, dont sequence on the keyboard, dont need a built in audio/midi-usb device, dont need "bluetooth" connections, dont need onboard speakers, etc. Just give me the nice 88-key keybed with a midi out, and I am golden. I cant believe this is real

The tones don't sound good. The speakers are terrible. It doesn't remember your Ambience setting so you have to change it every time you turn the piano on. The keybed is good, but not good enough to save this thing

Not worth the money

 I’m going to show later some of the apps you can use with this piano. The ways these apps will interact with this piano is with Bluetooth technology so the FP90 will use Bluetooth MIDI and also Bluetooth audio so you can stream audio from a Bluetooth device to the instrument and you can use the apps. So a very very cool function indeed, so what makes this piano so great? Well Of course one of the most important things has to be the sound. And for the first time ever in the FP series, Roland have incorporated their range topping sound technology

 It’s like a real piano that you don’t hear any loops going round,, you don’t hear any samples going round, it’s the real natural decay that would happen upon a real concert grand. Roland FP-90 Digital Piano Review | Better Music

I'll put in a recommendation for the Roland FP-90 (or FP-90x). I played one of these for work, having only ever played acoustic pianos, and honestly it felt and sounded better than the crappy acoustic I had at the time. I could see it replacing my Yamaha and still being okay for practice (though I wouldn't be happy about it).

I moved out of my parents' place last year and subsequently, left behind my grand and upright pianos. I had classical training for about 15 years and I've only ever had the luxury of playing  acoustic pianos up to this point. 

These days, I play 1-2 times a week for fun and I thought that a $450 Casio PX-130 would be enough for me to get by but frankly put, it feels like I have basically zero control over the tone, quality, or color of notes being played. I'm sure that the adjustment of acoustic to digital is something I'd have to live with but it feels impossible to produce even a fraction of the types of tones that were possible on an acoustic. I live in an apartment now with a partner and I would like a new digital piano that can closer replicate the feel and tone of an actual acoustic piano, not just by having weighted keys.

I'm hoping I can get something under $4000, all in. I might want to do some recording in the future but that's not a need for now.

Any ideas?

Coming from 15+ years of acoustic pianos, looking for a digital keyboard that doesn't feel like wet cardboard

 Clear, beautiful sound. I have a korg grandstage that has superior piano sounds. However, I bought this fp90x for the keyboard feel. Now that I've played it a while it's as close to an acoustic grand piano (which I have)

 Again if you want a pure digital grand that plays like a real piano with fast action keys...

 It's just one of the most easy to navigate successful user interfaces of any keyboard that I have ever used. Period. Somebody or a group of people really spent a lot of time getting feedback from users and spending some time in the drawing board to make sure they got this right. and I'm just gonna go from left to right or your right to left

 Talking about every reason why this is an easy to use machine. Virtually no need to ever consult the user manual and something that's ideal for live situations. so you're not having to rely on all kinds of presets or all kinds of shortcut commands. you know, making these changes on the fly

 It's upright piano. Oh oh, I Like that. That's mellow upright. So it has it looks like about nine or ten acoustic sounds

 [Music] Yeah, there's a really huge amount of color happening in the sound. You can tell that all of the different harmonics per note are being really processed and they're being colored in there. It's super cool to hear this because it usually takes a larger grand piano on the acoustic side to be hearing those types of colors. And it's engaging to be able to get this out of a digital piano

Its seems the entire Roland FP series is very good. I personally went with the 10 because it was the cheapest and im just learning so didn't think I really needed all the extra digital effects and samples and features etc. 

This has been asked many times so feel free to search past post and im sure you'll find bmmuch more detailed answers, but for my two cents I got a Roland FP-10 and can vouch for it 100 percent. For its prices is has a beautiful sound, nicely weighted keys, it is a very solid sturdy instrument and I personally think it looks classy and beautiful. And its about as portable as any other full 88 key digital that you'll find.

My situation: I go to university now and live alone for the first time. It's a small apartment so we couldn't get my old (not portable) E-Piano here. After a month now I realize that playing at the weekend only isn't enough for me and I need a new piano.

I'm looking for an e-piano that is portable so it basically has no piano stand attached to it. I will get one of those X-piano-stands for it.  
Does anyone of you have a recommendation for a piano that has nice sound and a good feeling when pressing keys that costs less than 1000€? I would also prefer it to have 88 keys.

E-Piano recommendations

Unboxing: Outer cardboard box had some damage to it from shipping, but no damage to contents due to good supporting packaging within the outer box.  Contents: Piano, power adapter and cable, clear music rest with hardware, DP-10 sustain pedal, printed owners manual (in many languages).  Set-up: The manual was clear on explaining set-up and function of unit.  Use: I am using this as a practice piano

 It is not going to go on on gigs, although it would be perfect to go for perfect solo piano gigs. but I really love the sound of this so much I'm going to be using this for studio recording. It is so good. The sound on it is perfect for studio recording

 I've been doing this since 2011 and occasionally I find a keyboard that is so good I actually want to buy it rather than return the loaner back to the manufacturer. This is one I am definitely going to buy. It is not going to go on on gigs, although it would be perfect to go for perfect solo piano gigs. but I really love the sound of this so much I'm going to be using this for studio recording
