 It sits alongside some of Rome's most dedicated park sticks, and that's mainly down to its shape and profile. As with any board that prioritizes freestyle performance, riding Switch is high up on its list, and the Agent is therefore built around a true twin construction. The shape, camber and flex are completely symmetrical between the nose and tail, so whether you're spinning in the air, riding in or out of a feature in Switch, or just raising your flatland game, it'll feel totally balanced whichever way you point it. The camber profile is also primed to take on both bigger park features as well as slower close contact jibbing with equal capability

 Now it's not quite base meltingly fast but it's certainly rapid enough to keep you clearing the knuckles, bombing the home runs and being the first one back on the chair for the next lap. So who's this one for? Well in all honesty the agent really does have mass appeal. Of course there are far more freeride dedicated sticks and stiffer more performance park focus boards available on the market, not least of all in Roam's own lineup. But the agent works both as a board for rookies or intermediates to fast track their all-mountain freestyle skills and for more advanced riders looking for something they can really bend and tweak and put a little more expression and style back into their riding

 In between your feet the agent is actually really quite soft and this makes it great for riding at slower speeds, especially if you're setting up for a feature in the park. But it's a different story out towards the ends of the board where you'll find quite a bit of firepower tucked under the hood. So starting at the insert packs and running out towards the nose and tail, Roam have wrapped bamboo hot rods in a carbon housing. These don't have quite the same snap as the pure carbon rods found in some of their stiffer models but instead the bamboo adds more of a playful lively feel if you're buttering or pressing over the ends

Park Boards that are good on ice?

 You've got that double kick in the tip in the tail and That's awesome from when you're really leveraged out on it But there's that sweet spot in the rocker right outside where the rod is right before the tip kick It's very small, but it's great when you engage it out there You feel the rod want to load up But once you press past it, it does not fight you so you're out there and you're swiveling around doing your thing on the tip utilizing that double kick and then as you slightly disengage it it It re-engages that rod so you get snap so you can pop back out of whatever butter variation you're doing Basically, if you know what you're doing when you butter you're gonna be fine If you don't you've got to learn because there are some weird little quirks to this board But it works in your advantage in the end when it comes to jibbing this board locks in the presses and you get that Snap out of that rod off the end of the feature and when you go sideways this board Cradled slightly right around the feature and lets you slide through it This board is better at going a little bit faster on jibs and hitting some bigger features, but it's still easily pressable It doesn't totally fight you or make you feel like you're overworking for what you're getting out of it When it comes to carving on this board, you have an edge to edge transmission that is fluid It just feels like you've been on this board a hundred days It's one of those decks that when it gets on edge, you're just doing swoopy carves from one side of the trail to the other But it's got enough power that if you drive into the center of the camber by pushing your knee in and down You're gonna load it up and push off that tail and you can really apex that carve lay it over and slingshot out of your turn This is a board that if you do need to lay it over you can but by and large You can be laid back and lazy just ankle steering doing mellow setup turns and mellow carves and not having to worry about it It lets you carve when you need to but it also lets you be laid back when you want to Who's this board for the all-mountain freestyle guy after 20 years You'd hope that Rome knows what they're doing with making an all-mountain freestyle board and with this being the longest running board in their lineup They've nailed it. This board is just consistent. You know when you get on it, it's not bad. It's not good It's consistent

 Hello snowboarders of the internet, I'm your host Averin LaFeber and in this video, we're gonna be reviewing the Rome agent 20th anniversary this year this board features Rome's fusion camber Which is basically cam rocker with a more dominant camber So the camber comes down to right before the tip and tail kick and then you've got this micro rocker out there What this is gonna do is give you the load pop snap and drive of traditional camber but then you've got this rocker out in the tip in the tail that's gonna help give ease of entry in and out of turns better press Ability and a little more optimal powder float. This board is available in 148 151 154 157 160 155 wide 158 wide 161 wide I wrote this board at Copper Mountain on a sunny bluebird day with warming temps. You had hot power slush chop chunder perfect Groomers and I wrote it with my Rome black label bindings and my k2 thru-axis boots This board has that predictable middle of the road all-mountain freestyle with a more Emphasis on freestyle flex. So what you get is softer tips that are Accentuated right where those rocker zones are and then it stiffens up just a little bit Through the middle to having a noticeable amount of torsional flex when it comes to stability You are gonna get chatter in the tips and that will slightly resonate underfoot in rutted out terrain You can get bucked around so keep your knees bent But if you stay on top of it, you know how camber reacts you should be fine If you don't well, you're probably gonna end up on your ass a few times before you do figure it out What's nice about this board is you never really feel like you're loading that camber section up to get it to engage It just feels like it's loaded and it wants to rebound this board has Solid snap you never worry about popping off anything in your path Whether it's a side hit a roller or you're using that fat skier kit as a launch ramp It's gonna boost it gets you up in that air What's nice is the little rod and the nose and the tail is right where that rocker is So when the camber comes down you load it and you push into that you get a springboard effect from it When it comes to jump small medium large, it doesn't matter

 It's gonna be able to handle them all I do believe that medium and up are really this board strong suit. First board board for park terrain.

 All the biggest highlights in the Agent for me is the energy, the stability, and the versatility you're going to find in this snowboard. If you're looking for something that's going to help you get to those upper levels of freestyle progression and hold up for exploring the rest of the mountain when you're not in the park as well I think the Agent could be a good choice to consider.  While the Agent is capable for all-mountain exploring I think this board is going to shine the most with a more freestyle approach to your riding. As far as park laps go I'd say it's a little bit more jump leaning, still going to have a pretty good feel on rails but it's going to be more challenging and make you work a little bit harder to get presses and do those more technical type tricks. I think this is going to be better suited for working your way up to the higher levels of freestyle progression for you more experienced riders. Still maybe could be a good choice for an intermediate rider if you're looking for a more sturdy snowboard but going to be a fun one as you start to dip into those higher impact situations and start to hit larger features where stability becomes a lot more useful

 Alright for reference before we get into the tech, I'm 5 foot 10, I weigh around 150 pounds and we're riding the Rome Agent 154 and the first thing you're going to notice about this snowboard is that it is noticeably light weight, it's always a good thing helping to make it a little more maneuverable, a little bit easier to move around out here and this is going to be a freestyle focus board on the Rome lineup but it's also all mountain capable. It's a true twin and it's a camber dominant snowboard so it's pretty much full positive camber, it runs Rome's Fusion camber, slight rocker release as you get close to the contact points to help mellow things out, make it a little bit less catchy but overall going to come through with that positive camber feel so it's going to be a little bit more energetic, a little bit more poppy and more stable. There's a couple more things I want to highlight in the Agent, you're also going to find Rome's Bamboo Omega Hot Rods so in both the nose and the tail running from about underfoot all the way out to the tips, you're going to find a carbon fiber wrapped bamboo rod and that's going to give the board a little more snap, more energy and more pop, giving you the benefits of both bamboo and carbon fiber while keeping the board nice and light. You're also going to get a sintered base in this board which is known to be a harder, faster, more durable base material, you are going to want to make sure to wax it regularly to maintain a fast consistent glide out here but always good to see a higher end base on these boards

 So who's this board for? It's for someone that wants just a board that's going to do it all, middle of the road, flex, can ride the park all day, can go just lap a groomer, can chase pow, just a quintessential rad dad, do everything type of board. So I'm glad the agent's back. I'm glad they revamped it. They didn't just bring back what it was right before it disappeared for a year

 It's not just going to leave trenches all day type of board. It's just not stiff enough for it. But if you're going to just do a quick tight turn where you've got to dodge a skier and you're staring at them and you're giving them the death glare because they're a fat skier and you're going around them and you want to let them know that you're dominant, it's got you covered. No questions asked

 This board really just wants to get in the air and snap. So there's a tiny little sweet spot out past the rods, just sort of where that rocker section is on the tip of the tail. So you want to make sure that you get your weight out there and really push into it because this board's going to rebound. It's going to fight you

 When you load it up and actuate that flat section, you just feel it want to rebound. There's so much pop and snap out of this board. It's easy to load up, but you're going to notice that it rebounds. Like this is a board that will just get you in the air

The Rome Agent Snowboard Review

 Now that is going to keep the door open for just about any and all styles of riding. The camber section holds an edge when you want to bomb the piece and also generate the pop when you're getting airborne. Then these rockered areas come in super handy when you want to dial things back a bit and work on your butters and presses with a bit of a get out of jail free card when things don't quite go to plan. I'd even go as far as to say they offer up a little extra float and powder compared to a traditional camber which can sometimes nosedive at the first sign of fresh snow

 But let's take a closer look at the very ends of the board because for me this is the most exciting aspect of this season's Agent.  That's going to give you all the power and response you'll need to ride the whole mountain. But they've added just a little bit of rocker in the nose and tail to give it a much more versatile and catch-free ride. That's going to really help when you take it into that first turn in the powder or when you're jibbing down the home run at the end of the day. You'll hardly feel this thing in the air, but it's built to take those heavier landings

 It's pretty obvious from looking at this thing what it was made for. Built around a true twin shape with a blunt nose and tail, it's capable of spinning off every hit and feels super balanced, whether you're stomping your landing switch or regular. New for this year, the agent's been loaded up with their Fusion Camber. This features a camber for most of the running length of the board, in addition to bamboo stringers in the nose and the tail

 This thing can take a beating on any park feature, but it's still going to absorb a ton of wax to keep you charging fast all day. So no more excuses for hitting the knuckles on those landings. So that's the Roam Agent, a proper all-mountain freestyle machine. We're really left, but it's definitely here to stay
