 I think that makes it a little more maneuverable and can make it a little bit easier to generate rotation on spins. But I do think this board hits a nice middle ground, so if you're a more experienced rider but maybe you haven't spent that much time in the park, so you want to start off on those mellower features, it's still going to have a good feel for that and be something that you can grow with and work your way up to the big stuff. Overall, the Stalei Mod is that well-rounded freestyle board that's capable of stepping to the biggest features comfortably, but isn't going to make it incredibly difficult to take a more playful approach to your riding as well. For me, a couple of the biggest highlights are the feel of the flex

 For reference, I'm 5'10", I weigh around 150 pounds. And for sizing for this board, I fall within the weight range for both the 53 and the 56, but I tested this board in a 53. So as far as the flex goes, I'd say it felt like right around a mid-flex. It wasn't overly aggressive, but it still came through with some good stability and some good support

 If you do find yourself out there riding through some more choppy or variable snow conditions, that soft or torsional flex can make a bit of a compromise, but it's not something I'd really be concerned with. You're still going to be able to power through that pretty well, and overall, this board's still going to come through with a good feel even when you're not focusing on freestyle. But at the end of the day, this board's going to be the most fun doing more park-focused riding, in my opinion. You can still get some good presses and butters going with it, even though it isn't the softest or most buttery snowboard on the Rome lineup, like the Party Mod or the Gangplank

You are going to have to fight that camber a little bit, but I found you can still get some good flex out of the tips, and pretty much any time you load tension up in the nose and tail, it's going to come through with some good pop, so that has a good feel on the exit of those flat ground tricks, and as you guys know, that's going to come in handy pretty much everywhere else in the park as well. I would say that it is a little bit more jump-leaning with that full positive camber profile and that mid-flex

I think if I was going to buy this board, I'd get it in a 153 just because it had a nice versatile feel that was comfortable, in my opinion. But if you're looking for that stiffer side and medium, more aggressive feel out of the board that's geared more towards hitting the largest features and really pushing your limits, I'd consider sizing up, but I thought this board felt great at a 153 at around 150 pounds

Hey Everyone! It’s about that time for me to upgrade to a new board and I dont know what’s my best option. 

I live on the east coast of the US, but make a good bit of trips out west, and to any big mountains I can. I currently ride a NVRSMR ProtoType II and I love it. The only problem I have with it, is its not the best on powder. So im thinking I want a powder board, but I still want something that I can ride on the east coast which is pretty much groomers and shit powder. 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Probably looking in the under $5-600 range.

New Board Advice!!

 It's feeling very redundant to have to keep talking about traditional camber, don't you agree John? Oh yeah, see, he even agrees with me. This board is available in regular sizes. Okay, so let's take a look at this flex pattern right now. It's basically a true all mountain freestyle flex

 That's where you really want to get your weight and leverage it out. That's also where you're going to bend the flex point. I mean, you're still going to snap and pop off the tip and that's what's going to be on the snow, but that's where you want to engage it the most is outside the inserts. You're going to utilize that whole front section or back section of the board

 When it comes to carving with this board, you've got to weight up the camber to slingshot you out of turns. It's a little more aggressive. It's not quite as nimble as the rocker version, and that's okay. This is really designed for someone that's going to push it even harder, someone that really wants to slingshot out of turns, load up, drive the center of the board, and have it rebound out

 Okay, so let's take a look at this flex pattern right now. It's basically a true all mountain freestyle flex. You're going to have a stiffer section through the middle to just outside the inserts, then softer in the tips with a decent amount of torsional flex. Overall this board is lively, but it's still damp where it counts

You can really push off that tail and feel that power to snap you out of the turn. This is a deck that when you're being laid back, you can be laid back.  Who's this board for? The high end park rider that loves camber. So since the last time I rode this board, I feel like they soften the tips up just a hair. It makes it easier to press. It's easier to engage those rods, get more snap out of it

 All right, so it's a high-end park board, which means it's past middle of the road flex, so it's on the slightly stiffer side, but it's not a full-blown plank. So what you get is softer flex starting at the contact points and then about a third of the way back towards the insert pack. It progressively stiffens up through the middle with a noticeable amount of torsional flex, but it's not overly abundant. It really doesn't cause you to over-twist the board when you come down and land a little uneven
