Well, it doesn't need the gen 4. It only needs something like this: it doesn't go much faster than that. It's not gen 4 capable

My choices right now are Samsung 970 evo plus but I read here that it gets hot and not suitable for laptop. Another is Crucial P5 plus but I am not sure if my laptop supports PCIe gen 4. The third one is the Kingston NV1 which is more on the budget side. The last one is Transcend PCIe SSD 220s but the reviews on this are seldom.
