Samsung 980 Pro

I ended up going with extra long screws to go all the way through the radiator and threaded into the other side. I know not the best way to do it and I may have went through some radiator fins (although it didn’t feel like it on this one). Basically, it speaks to EK’s quality that the threading is so easily stripped, but still I think it’s a steal for $90 and I was admittedly probably screwing with it too much. Otherwise, great build, I’m in love, been using it for a few weeks and it’s just perfect!.

980 just barely misses the mark set by the SSD 980 Pro, and it leapfrogs over the equally impressive figure posted by the Intel SSD 670p. The three-title game launching set was a bit spottier, with Intel gaining some points in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, but the Samsung drive traded blows down the line on tests like the Adobe program launches or outright copy tests. It was a very near-run thing

**SSD** Without much scrutiny, I went with a Samsung 980 Pro M.2 NVME SSD. Benchmarks showed this comparing favorably. Sure seems like Samsung has had a lock on the SSD market for a long while now.

Samsung has been on a hot streak in the SSD world for years now, racking up wins most recently in the premium PCIe 4.0 segment with the release of its SSD 980 Pro, and now it takes another bow in PCIe 3.0 with the SSD 980

I also bought a Samsung 980 Pro 1TB drive since I was originally going to go with Ryzen, but after seeing the 3000 series launch I didn't want to risk a half-built PC, so I went with Intel and hoped that Rocket lake would be more price-competitive, which is isn't, but I'm stuck with that. For all other purposes (especially productivity) Ryzen will offer far greater value for your money. For me, this system is expected to last me about 4-6 years, and hopefully in 2 years or so we can see Direct Storage make its way to PC where a high-speed SSD can be utilized for faster game loading and potentially better game performance.

Samsung 980 Pro 1TB NVMe. NZXT H1 Case w/ stock AIO + 650w PSU. And just to address the elephant that I’m sure somebody will try to let into the room - yes this case has the completely new PCIe riser in it.
