Not sure what the successor will be. I'm contemplating another of the same model, since this one lasted almost 3 years of daily use and it only cost $15. The rest of the knife is still in good condition, so I was also thinking about getting new screws and putting it back together, but most screw sets cost almost the same as a new knife, lol.

My Sanrenmu's screws fell out. Guess it's time for an upgrade.

 The material is soft, wires easily, and doesn't hold an edge in any special way. Perfectly acceptable for the price, but nothing earth-shattering.  Handle: The outline of the handle is nearly identical to the Sebenza and that is, by far, this blade's greatest strength. It is a great size and shape and feels good in even my large hands

 Of course, the design is blatantly stolen from Chris Reeves so take that with a grain of salt. Past that, the handle is rather poorly designed and frankly, not at all Sebenza-like. The finish is smooth and makes for a pretty unreliable grip and the little pads for traction are in a really useless spot, ugly as sin, and so coarse I worry about leaving the knife in my pocket with anything else.  Action: The detente on the action is either too aggressive or not aggressive enough

 The Kershaw Cryo is barely more expensive and has real 8Cr13MoV, assisted opening, looks nicer, has better jimping, and has better forward traction if you needed to stab with it. I would basically only recommend this blade for EDC, and even then only if you value size and weight over tactical considerations (as I do). Otherwise, go buy a Kershaw Cryo and feel good about the fact that Kershaw is actually paying their industrial designers.

Tried to stay away from these chinese made spyderco's.... There actually a solid knife.

  It's solid, looks like it will take some heavy wear.  They copied a great design. It looks undeniably nice.  Cons: the people who are saying they just want to try it out to see if the Sebenza feels right before they pay for one, don't bother

  Pros - Sandvik and the stainless handle are just fine for most folks. They're better than the typical steel you're getting on an inexpensive USA built knife.  It's solid, looks like it will take some heavy wear.  They copied a great design

 It won't have the raw structural strength, ability to sustain abuse, or the ability to keep a freshly whetted and stropped edge through extended work as the original knife; it also costs well over an order of magnitude less, so it's available for people who don't have 500 bones to drop on a pocket knife.  There are two legitimate sides to the argument about whether it's ethical to buy one of these - looking at it in the hand it's plain that it copies the Chris Reeve design - or any similar knife. I won't tell you which is right for you as I find people choose what to care about just fine on their own, without my help, but in this argument it seems to boil down to what you choose to care about more. For my purposes, I'm mostly concerned with one thing -- build quality

Looking for a folding knife under 15 USD, any recommendations?

 The thumb stud sets off from the handle in a place that doesn't feel well placed and several times I have had the center of my thumb end up squarely on edge of the half opened blade. If it does come open all the way, it is very quick and locks strongly, but my thumbnail is scratched every time by the stud. It is very tight at first to open. It does loosen up, I still wouldn't call it smooth to open by any stretch

Overhyped but ok overall

 That's not necessarily a bad thing, as both the Rat I and the smaller Rat II from Ontario Knives are both very popular blades in their own right. And I love the attention to detail that Land / Sanrenmu put into their 900 series knives, so I had high hopes for this smaller model.  But a scaled down knife doesn't always work as well as the original, and the 7010 is clearly not as good of a knife as the 912. Overall the fit and finish is noticeably less polished on the 7010

The spine of the blade on the 900 knives are beautifully rounded, but on the 7010 it's clearly more angular, less comfortable, and just lower quality. The jimping above the thumb studs are comfortable but firm on the Land knives, but are sharp and somewhat uncomfortable on the 7010

Kind of Disappointing

 Personally, I figure if it works, it works. This steel works well. It's pretty easy to get a good edge and the edge holds okay--nothing spectacular but good enough for most of the tasks most of us will use it for. The SanRenMu came fairly sharp and a little time on the Sharpmaker with the fine and ultra fine stones got it in the razor category

 The blade is standard Chinese upper quality steel: 8Cr13MoV. Many knife lovers disparage this steel because it's not one of the super steels that sends them into effusive rapture. Personally, I figure if it works, it works. This steel works well

Seems to be an excellent little knife

 8cr13mov is a budget steel but by no means bad some 40$ knifes sport it.  Go to a lunch truck buy yourself a burger and fries for 10$ lose it in 6 hours or buy this knife that could last years.  The round in the picture is a 556 for reference The all black knife is a kershaw composite leek The tan knife is a benchmade 556 mini griptillian

A Honest Review.

 It's like a liner lock, but without liners. There's is minimal blade play, and screws turn with a standard torx wrench.  Overall, this is a great blade for $40, and it's only $10.
