When we set it to clean, either via the app or by pushing a button on top of the robot, it typically ran more than 1½ hours at a time, chugging along while most other robots we were testing returned exhausted to their docks.  In our clutter room testing, we again see its random cleaning pattern and we again see reasonably good even coverage. A problem area in this test for many other random passing robots we tested was the area underneath the chair frame. Many other random robots we tested had trouble navigating around the chair legs to properly clean underneath the chair frame, but the shark did not appear to have any trouble navigating through the chair legs to properly clean in and around this area. Other important specifications and test results we considered for this review are summarized here: Note, especially how there are no boundary accessories like a magnetic strip for example, included with the Rv 761, though you can buy shark bot boundary strips separately and use them with the Rv 761 to limit where it can go in your home

 Side Brushes: Most other robot vacuums have side brushes with multiple bundles of fibers to maximize contact with and movement of debris per rotation of the side brush. The shark side brush design definitely hurts its Ed's performance, while the more traditional side brush design improves its performance. In our robot vacuum crevice test, the Rv 761 did not perform well on default power or on maximum power. Even after extensive run time, it still could not pull most of the debris out of the crevice used for this test on either power setting

 In our empty room testing, we see the shark's random cleaning pattern demonstrated quite well. It also gets good even coverage in this test. This robot has a fairly narrow direct cleaning path as its brussel compartment is only five and a half inches wide. but with repeated movement over the same area, it was able to clean up most of the test area reasonably well over time

 The shark just bounces in every direction using a shotgun approach to clean the floor. It gets the floor clean, but it could do it much quicker and much quieter if it used any kind of AI or mapping to clean the floor.  3.) doesnt know how to drive straight always

 Pull out the brushroll. The brushroll should be cleaned every week and replaced every six to twelve months or when it looks like it's very worn, Take the cap off at the end of the brushroll, clean it off and replace it. Pull the cap off the end first. When you pull it, you're not gonna think that this is gonna be able to come off, but just use a little strength and it will come off

Only time will tell how it holds up, but so far we're pretty happy with it.  Very good suction on our all-hardwood main level floor (about 1300 ft) that includes many area rugs, many obstacles, a large black dog shedding randomly everywhere he can, and a central raised front entry area that cuts the vac off from much of the direct path between spaces on that level. Takes 90-120 minutes to cover the entire 1st floor spaces using about 80% of its battery capacity

Because of the main floor room layout & path obstructions, it spends a good portion of that time at the end trying to find its dock if it decides it's finished while on the wrong side of our raised entry foyer. I'd expect it would handle a similar sized space that had fewer obstructions a bit faster (Maybe I'll build it a set of removable ramps to get past the entry area)

It Vacuums Well, Features, Not So Much

 If not for the incessant high speed collisions with everything in its path, I’d say that this is the quietest robot vac I’ve owned so far but the banging and the need to frequently rescue it renders that point negligible.  I can’t speak for Alexa integration, because that’s far more intrusive than anything i’d. ever have in my home but the app is effective for starting the vacuum while you’re away and monitoring cleaning time, just know that, if you start it while you’re away, you’ll likely need to find it and restart it as soon as you get home. At this point, I’m going to say that this machine cleans well, saves me a lot of effort and was well worth what I paid for it (because it was deeply discounted) but if you’re actually expecting one that is going to ever learn the layout of your home, you’re likely to be seriously disappointed

 Maybe a good compromise is to program it to run when you’re at home but nobody is trying to sleep or concentrate on anything important. Having owned a number of roombas and ilifes over the years, I believe that this shark model cleans as well as either of those brands but is a far dumber machine than the roomba.
