Skullcandy Push Active Review

I have been familiar with Skullcandy for a long time, their wired headphones from 5-10 years ago were great! Good sound quality and very loud, nice for outdoor activities/sports. I've ruined a few pairs ripping the wires out while skateboarding, they were cheap enough to just go get a new pair and not care. This is not my first foray into Bluetooth headphones from Skullcandy, I had a pair of over the ear headphones(can't remember the model number) that wouldn't Bluetooth pair after a month of use but still had a 3.5mm jack so I could use them on my PC until the headband broke

 I expected low quality Bluetooth connectivity like the the last pair, but now the issue is the volume! They connect immediately and send the Bluetooth signal over long distances /through some walls easily. The volume and sound quality is absolutely too low, it's like listening to audio with petroleum jelly packed in your ears. You have to crank the volume level to get any quality of sound. The way these fit into your ears is annoying, the rubber earpieces easily slide out of the ear canal making the user constantly push it back in if you even thing about sweating

I spend more time thinking about pushing the earbuds in my ears than the podcast/songs I'm listening to. I finally lost one of the rubber earpieces at work which made me think of reviewing this product after 3 months of use, which has been a real mixed bag of performance

I've always been a fan of skull candy, great sound quality has always been why. Its been hard to find a replacement for my set of Push wireless head phones. Not to say they were perfect (case latch broke, had issues with charging my first set.) That being said, I've tried Push Ultra, Indy ANC, and even Dime Blacks and haven't found what I'm looking for

Great battery, not an improvement from Push

 But then we get into: "press and hold left earbud to launch and play Spotify"? That's something you do before you even put the earbuds on, tbh. Plus, it's literally one tap to launch Spotify. And what if you don't use Spotify? "Press and hold right earbud to share audio between two skullcandy Skull-iQ enabled products"?? Never going to need this in my life. Waste of a setting

  2 - The range is pitiful. If my phone is in my pocket and I crouch (AKA, my thigh is now "blocking" my phone) the earbuds will start going spotty. Not great for working out. Frustrating

Not Worth $70

.wow, complete fail. I have a OnePlus 7 Pro and can connect to devices from across my house, this app drops while I'm walking and a breeze hits me. It never connects one the first attempt and the second I literally have to hold my phone as if I were on a call

I did a lot of reading prior to buying these, so going in I knew that the app was questionable and still felt that saving money vs. the Powerbeats Pro's I really wanted would be worth it. Nope, I should have spent the money. I have a great ear for music and like clarity, depth and quality, these fall short on depth

  Fit is decent and they are snug in the ear with no noticeable movement while walking. Even turned up all the way it's never "too loud" and doesn't overdrive the speakers. Battery life and case are solid, I've only charged the case once and I use them every day and it still has plenty in the tank.  All in all, I'll be buying the Powerbeats, these I'll keep around if I need a pair of earbuds I don't mind beating up or losing

A real letdown - Skullcandy fail

 If youre looking to get immersed in your audio, these just dont pack the punch to get you there

5 mm headphones/mic i got in 2019 (one for office and one for home) for $30 each that kick the crap outta these. Honestly id still be using the sony headset except my phone is no longer compatible with 3.5 mm (lighting to 3.5 adapter lets you use these for music but the mic wont work)

Reliable but not amazing

  Dislikes: mic picks up outside noise and seems to amplify it. no phone calls on the bike (I could talk to my mom on my bike commute with my old earbuds), walking my dogs on noisy streets (Seattle), the wind of any sort, or even making food in the kitchen while on the phone. The sound quality is ok mostly but not great in noisy environments like watching a movie on a plane. The voice command only works when it is quiet and is too awkward to use at the gym
