There's that one, it works great, oh I found one more negative I really have to tell you about this, a big time negative about this multi tool. This is a slider here to lock the blade from accidentally coming open. If you press off there's no way to open this

 This here button is a release to unlock the blade, has nothing to do with opening it. This is to lock the blade in the handle. Now what happens is I try to carry this thing with the lock off and they accidentally slide on. These will move on you, you cannot trust whatever position you set this in on these blades on or off, you cannot trust it to stay there

 Oh, and heaven forbid you need that cutting "V" tool to slice a seatbelt in an emergency, because it takes about an hour to seperate it from it's neighbors. This makes this particular item utterly useless, unless you open boxes constantly.  Last, but certainly not least, the assisted opening on the plain blade is just garbage. It takes a ton of pressure to engage it in the first place, and then it only serves to fling the blade about halfway open, just enough for your thumb to lose it's hold on the sharpened metal of doom

I've resorted to 2-hand opening, which is just crap for a blade that's supposed to be asssisted opening. Meanwhile, the saw blade's assisted opening is almost perfect, because you never know when you're going to need to saw a tiny limb off a tree in a hurry! Seriously, I'd much rather give up the assisted opening on the saw blade altogether, if I could have on that works correctly on the plain (see: "most often used") blade

Overpriced waste of potential.

 The knives have safeties on them, as well as a secure lock when deployed. It has the tools you were looking for above, but as for scissors which I know are popular, SOG opted for a V-style cutter.

So basically what would be perfect for me is the following:

\- Pliers (would be great but not necessity)

\- Relatively large blade compared to the tool, with a locking mechanism and one hand open/closeable :)

\- Scissors

\- Screwdriver; flathead and philips 

\- Bottle opener

Anything extra is a bonus!

I was looking at the skeletool, but it's missing the scissors, and on the expensive side. Also the Leatherman style ps, but it's missing the blade. Also the Gerber Suspension NXT is looking promesing, but I prefer the other locking mechanism.

I know I can be really nitpicky over these things :p

Looking for multitool that would fit me

  In conclusion, the multi-tool just is not the place for a one-handed opening blade. The multi-tool is first and foremost a pair of pliers. If your after a knife, go for a Benchmade or an Emerson. If you need an awesome multi-tool, get the PowerLock

 And any such grit would be very difficult to remove from the torsion springs as disassembly of the mechanism looked to be a sketchy task at best. Furthermore, the housing for the springs was made almost entirely of plastic, as was the flimsy spacer that extended down the handle between the blades. This I knew would not be able to withstand the punishment that my PowerPliers had been subject to on a routine basis.  The rest of the tool however, is solid and functional

T) blades were going to consume space that could be better-filled by nearly half a dozen far more useful tools. But the reviews looked good and the assisted opening blades (although gimmicky) still appealed to me.  Handling of the tool upon delivery was accompanied by an acute case of buyer's remorse. It was immediately obvious that this multi-tool was not going to yield a 15+ year life as its predecessor had

 And for the casual user who works in a clean environment or for the collector, this tool will be a true gem. However, if you rely heavily on your multi-tool and regularly employ the rounded-out conventional set of accompanying fold-out blades and tools, you would be far better served by the PowerLock model.  In conclusion, the multi-tool just is not the place for a one-handed opening blade. The multi-tool is first and foremost a pair of pliers

Fun But Not Practical

I like having my SOG PowerAssist around for compound leverage pliers. Haven't really found a good standalone equivalent. Also opening it like a balisong is fun.

For me it’s the pocketwrench 2. There’s some redundancy with my spirit X, but it’s really good at what it does and it’s so light/disappears that it’s worth having around. I use it mainly for the slim wrench, pry, and ruler.

Any Multitool that does a job exceptionally well that you keep around even if it’s redundant?

 Basically I had to bathe the B66N-CP on lubricant to get them to move and start opening with the flick of my thumb. Other point about the blades is that they are opposing to each other in the handle and while you can open one with your right thumb, the other one can't, and you will need to use your index finger and that's not safe at all.  Third: The tool isn't glove friendly and it is hard to operate the blades or extract any of the multitools from their resting places without an effort with gloves on. I actually have to take my right-hand glove off every time I use one of them (screwdrivers specially)

  Fourth and last: the whole "lock/unlock" and "On/Off" for the blades don't make any sense to me. SOG over-complicated something that was supposed to be simple and added some moving parts, and as anyone who uses tools in different conditions know, more moving parts make more possible points for failure.  Summarizing:  My relationship with the B66N-CP is a mix of nice and positive feelings with negative hands-on experience. I love the pliers and they make this tool - the rest of the tools are almost an afterthought

  Overall I think SOG had a great chance to solidify themselves in the multitool business with the B66N-CP but failed to test it under normal conditions with people who really use these tools as TOOLS and not only as TOYS.  If you're looking into a secondary multitool that has powerful pliers this should be the one, otherwise if your job is using this for real work go for something a little more handy such as the Leatherman Wave.  Thinks I would change in this particular model: Add an universal lock and unlock system for the tools and drop the whole "piano-key" concept. Invert the blades so they would sit opposite to each other in opposite handles so they could both be opened with a thumb flick

 It fits nicely on my belt and once it is there I don't even see or feel it until I need it for a job.  Now with this disclaimer, I would like to provide my review and analysis of the SOG PowerAssist B66N-CP.  What I like about it: + It seems to be solid + The black is a cool color + V-Cutter is useful ++ The gear assisted pliers are the best I ever used in a multitool  What I don't care about it: - The spring opening system for the blades is cumbersome - Would like to see a pair of scissors instead of two flat-head drives and bottle and can openers -- Too many moving parts  Now, let me explain some of my restrictions about the SOG and why I gave it only three stars.  First, upon opening the box and using the B66N-CP the first thing I noticed were that my hands were filthy dirty with black ink that was bleeding from the tool itself

NICE BUY, GOOD GIFT. CUTE TOOL BUT NOT ALL THAT JAZZ.

Ended up between the SOG Powerassist and the Gerber Centerdrive. Picked the SOG and man am I happy with it. The nicest and most powerful set of pliers on a MT I've ever used, and the spring assist blades without opening the tool is genius.

Need a new multitool!

 The "Compound Leverage" Pliers are The Heat, and they function very well. Overall, this knife does do what I think it should for my uses, and once you understand how it operates, is is not at all difficult to use.  The B66-N is a good buy for my purposes (Law Enforcement). I have read a review on here about the spring assist function failing and the screwdriver tool snapping off, but nothing is perfect and those reviews do not address the manner in which these tools failed (Were they torture-testing their tools?)

More importantly, SOG advertises a LIFETIME WARRANTY on this item. While it would be a hassle to send it back and await a new tool, SOG does indicate that they stand behind their product for a LIFETIME of usage which is better than most other companies that I have had experience with

 The LIFETIME WARRANTY is a reassuring feature if you have not had any experience with SOG in the past (This is my first). Although there are some downsides to the knife, It is still an excellent tool that is deserving of a good review. Also, check out the following YouTube review on the B61(?) by "Nutnfancy". It is a review of a different knife, but it is very similar to the B66-N and very applicable

 I have a SOG folder and one SOG fixed blade. Finish quality on both of those are top notch. I get that it is a tool and will show wear over time, but damn shouldn’t it at least start life looking fresh?  Sent email to the seller, they were quick to respond and apologetic. Since I live near SOG HQ, I stopped by on my way home from work today

 I explained the issue to the lady working the counter and she was kind enough to pull two or three other Black Oxide Multi-tools to compare. ALL of them had similar marks and uneven/inconsistent finish/coating. Though none made anywhere near the same amount of mess on my fingers. Really surprised that this is evidently "just the way they are"

  Long version: I have been looking for a decent multi-tool for EDC and finally decided on the SOG Power Assist. It had the tools I was looking for, in the right price range, and a nice (or so I thought from the pic on Amazon) Black Oxide finish.  When it arrived, I opened it only to get black “stuff” all over my hands and had to spend 5 minutes wiping it down with dry paper towels until it was “clean” (or at least not leaving smudges on my hand every time I touched it). Then wash my hands repeatedly to get them clean

  Once the "stuff" was gone I found numerous scratches, scuffs, marks, on the tool. Looked like it had been kicked across a garage floor a few times. If not for unopened retail packaging, seriously would have thought this to be used or maybe even counterfeit.  VERY disappointed with the finish in person (see pics)
