 He runs a YouTube channel all about biking, and more specifically, biking very quickly. For well over three hours, I made him bomb down all sorts of hills in midtown Manhattan, and I am very happy to report the A1 had no trouble keeping up. I shot Terry with the A1 paired with the 100-400mm Sony G Master lens with autofocus continuous sensitivity set to the most responsive settings. In order to reach that 30 frames per second with continuous autofocus, you have to have your camera above 1 250th shutter speed, using the electronic shutter mode, and only shooting in either raw compressed or JPEG format

 In this body? What? Man, I live in a very very fast city, so I was quite excited to put that spec to the test. A 50.1 megapixel stacked CMOS sensor, 8K filming at 30 frames per second, 120 autofocus calculations per second, an OLED viewfinder capable of 240 frames per second refresh rate, a mechanical shutter flash sync up to 1 four thousandth of a second all in a body that doesn't feel that much bigger than my A7C. To say that I've been excited to get my hands on this $6,400 Sony A1 is completely an understatement, but now that it's here, man oh man have I been putting that burst mode to the test

 I do wish I had shot a bit wider though, now knowing just how much I could punch in before losing quality. What surprised me the most though was the range I still had even with compressed RAW files. The A1 claims to have 15 stops of dynamic range, and when attempting to bring a shadowed figure back even in the compressed RAW files, I was able to do so with ease. But outside of action photography, the A1 still shines

 There were very few autofocus shots even when Terry was coming directly at the camera, and I was able to take over 100 consecutive shots before buffering slowed me down. And because the OLED EVF can perform at up to 240 frames per second, my view was never interrupted or lagged, and when using the electronic shutter, a white box comes up on the frame and flashes every time a shot is captured in lieu of the sound of the shutter. Also, I gotta come clean, I've never shot a cyclist before, so I felt really out of my element kneeling in the middle of 42nd street trying to catch a biker who was racing straight at me, yet the A1 made my job pretty easy, and it kinda made it look like I knew what I was doing. Now back in the edit, the image quality is sharp, full of contrast, and true to life

Excellent overall, but WiFi and overheating issues

 It looks to be a powerhouse for both video and photography, but how does the A1 match up against its only real rival, the R5? Let's find out. Sony builds camera components as well as cameras and it used a couple of fresh parts in the A1. The 50.1MP backside illuminated CMOS sensor is all new and delivers not only high resolution photos, but extremely fast readout speeds

 As with photos, the A1 has subject and animal or human eye tracking for video, and the system is rapid, responsive and dependable. It's a match for the R5 and I honestly can't say which is better. They both have outstanding AF that's far better than on any other brand. The 5-axis image stabilization is fine for handheld video shooting as long as you don't move too quickly

 Sony guarantees 30 minutes of continuous 8K recording, but I was able to shoot at room temperature for an hour or more before it shut down. After I popped out the battery and memory card and left it for 5 minutes, I could shoot for another hour. That's far better than the R5 both for total shooting and recovery times. The A1 lacks the RAW and high bandwidth internal recording found on the R5, but it does have 10-bit recording in all video modes, including 8K

 Another valid segment is dedicated 8K video shooting. The A1 is actually feasible for that, while the EOS R5 is not. If you look at it like that, the A1 is actually one of the cheapest 8K video cameras available. I want something under the price of 800$ since I'm a beginner and I don't really understand a lot  nor I could make the most out of a full frame or a very complex camera. Also because I'm poor. 

Second, my wife wants it for portraits and I like portraits and street photography . 
Also we like to travel so we need something not too heavy. 

4K recordings are a plus but it's not a must. 

I need something that won't go obsolete in the following years. I want a mirrorless camera. 

I've read many peoples opinions and many recommend the X-T20 but I don't know I need some serious guidence in this .

What camera + lens would you recommend me as a beginner?

So long as you are willing to put in the work to master this wonderful piece of technology, you will likely be pleased as punch with this camera, and in particular, the auto focus and tracking. I am going on a photography trip to Costa Rica in a few months and I know my equipment won't hold me back from getting the results I want.

Based off the video, could anyone recommend a camera that could record under those conditions without creating grainy abstracts? A nice autofocus would be nice due to the way I like to film. Im currently debating on the G85 or A6400 due to their cheaper pricing.

Looking for low light beast of a camera $1.5k

Fantastic camera. Great autofocus. I love the speed of the buffer for 50mp files. It doesn't feel like it slows down the camera at all

Super crisp images, easy to work with, great focus. I would highly recommend it to anyone, and it really is pretty compact. I have a Canon Rebel T6 but have seriously been considering getting a Sony Alpha because I’m planning a lot of backpacking trips soon and it seems like it would be great to save some space in my pack.
