 Can you work with the autofocus with other manufacturer lenses? Yes you can as you can see I have the Canon 40mm lens attached to the Sony a6300 via the MC-11 adapter. So once the camera and the lens adapter is attached to the camera you have full control over the lens so you can still use autofocus and I'll show you some sample footage that we did just to show you that the autofocus works with a Canon lens. Can you change focusing points or the focusing field? Yes you can and it's very easy to do so what you're going to want to do is you're going to want to access the focusing modes so by pressing the Fn button it will bring it up right here we want to go to autofocus continue or autofocus auto. So if you select autofocus continuous what you can do is now you can go into the focus area and you're going to be able to check center zone wide lock on AF expanded flexible spot expanded flexible spot and flexible spot manual so you have several different options that you can choose you can change your focusing point wherever you want in the frame or you can select different zones that you want to have the focusing points in and that's good for if you're tracking subject matter that's moving erratically you're photographing people that are moving so yes of course on the a6300 you can change the focusing points and the field of focus

 Once you're in the focusing mode then you can scroll through all the way until you get to manual focus. Once that's selected you're now going to have the option of focusing manually with your a6300. How do you shoot RAW and JPEG on the a6300? Well you can either shoot RAW or JPEG or you can shoot both at the same time and it's very easy. I'll show you how to set it up

 At ISO 12800 there's roughness to images, and ISO 25600 is rougher still&mdash;but both settings are sharper than the corresponding JPG output. ISO 51200 is useable if you don't mind a very grainy image, and will do well for black-and-white conversions, but shouldn't be your everyday ISO setting.

 Now some of your competition are going to be the Nikon D5500 Canon 80D. Both of those cameras the Nikon offers very very similar photo performance. This will be a little bit better than that but very similar photo performance. However the video performance on this is going to blow away the Nikon

 It's an APS-C sensor camera, you have a full readout for the 4K video as well. High high end stuff, can't go on enough about those. But does that mean that this camera is going to be the one for you? Let's take a look at some of the features, how I use this, and some of the things that I thought about this camera after spending some time with it and see if your opinion might change one way or the other.  This will be a little bit better than that but very similar photo performance. However the video performance on this is going to blow away the Nikon. And on the Canon side the photo performance on the Sony definitely is better than something like the Canon 80D. And also on the video side the quality of this is going to outdo the Canon on the market

 So what did I think about it? Overall the picture quality is unbelievable. I think it is a step above what we would see in the Nikon D7200 and you're getting a body that's a lot smaller but still has most of the features that we would want from a camera like that. But let's talk about some of the weak points on here. The biggest one for me was ergonomics

No camera is perfect but the Sony A6300 on paper definitely comes close with a 24MP sensor, 425 AF points with great coverage, 11fps shooting, 4k video with focus peaking, slog-3, and a host of other video and photo features with tons of customization. focus is not much difference when use Sony lenses. But when using Canon lenses through Metabones adapter, focus speed is amazing! The Canon EF70-200 f2.8L II lens uses to hunt a lot on my Sony A6000 body, now focus very fast on this A6300 even I added a 2x teleconveror. Other Canon none L lenses get fast too, like EF 35mm f2, 85mm f1

Fast but over heating

 It has all of the classic Sony downfalls. The battery life is not very good. I found you get about an hour, shooting 4k as well still no touchscreen for selecting your subjects when you're using video autofocus, and I still when I'm in video mode can't use the shutter button to record video. I don't know why I have to reprogram it to another custom button, but I don't think there's enough customers anyway

 If I can only have one complaint about it. I relief is not great. You got to get your eye in there, which is tough on a day like today, when I'm wearing sunglasses. Now, yes, the sony, HTC 300 is still kid with the 16 to 50 kit lens

 We did find some issues with noir a you can see on Chris's shorts. Here, it's a bit of a downside. I was really hoping to use this as like a B cam slow-mo recording device, but I do think it's better suited to shoot at the standard frame rates. That being said, the 60 frames per second on it is beautiful, so you can get some slow-motion without any image issue, but the hundred and twenty frames is a little bit dodgy

 You know the 6300 got some improvements and one that I really appreciate now is a new viewfinder 1.2 megapixels on this one. We'Ve almost doubled that now to 2.36 on the 6300, I'm actually really liking

Sony A6300 Hands-On Field Test

 The auto white balance is flaky at times - but the auto focus in low light frequently misses without fast HEAVY lens. It seems like the body closes down the aperture before full focus is achieved. Sony's new FAST versions of 70-200mm F2.8 and other G Master (red backed G) are HEAVY - to the point where for a 1/2 lb difference (camera and lens combo) I have much better results with either Nikon D7000 (also ASP-C format) or D750

 However, under the same low-light, non-flash conditions (literally same shot & conditions) using Sony 18-105mm F4 or Sony 70-200mm F4, the results are out of focus (soft) Not even close to crispness of my Nikon D7000 or D750 with equivalent zoom focal length and aperture. I have spent thousands of hard earned $$$$ on Sony a6000 and a63000 body, lenses and flash to reduce the size & weight vs my Nikon equipment. I do a lot of low light photography. Sony jpeg processing in low light is very good

 Current reviews of Sony a7Rii seem to reflect the same auto focus = requires Fast Heavy lens as I see with Sony a6300. Great results with a6000 & a6300 in DMF or Manual mode. Like my old Minolta STR-102 (yes 1970's days of film).

8 and wider (faster) its great. With the Zeiss Batis 85mm F1

 Our friend Max Yuryev, you should subscribe to his channel, tested the A6300 for video overheating with every frame rate, and it never overheated indoors. Our A6300 did overheat in the hot Miami sun, and we weren't even shooting video, just stills, and it was only like 78 degrees. As long as you keep it out of direct sun, I think you'll be fine. Continuous autofocusing was often great at tracking moving subjects, but then again it often hunted or focused on the background during the shot

 The GH4 has a touchscreen, and it can be flipped forward, and it has a headphone jack, so it's still overall a much more usable video camera than the A6300. We still prefer the much more expensive A7R II for filming, because it has a headphone jack, a stabilized sensor, and you can switch between full frame and Super 35 recording modes, giving us an option of crops. However, when I handed the footage to Justin, he thought this A6300 footage was from the A7R II, so that's saying a lot, the A6300 is as good as the A7R II. The A6300, it's a jack of all trades, but a master of none

 As a mic jack, it's a big upgrade from the A6000, but it doesn't have a headphone jack, so if you need an external device just to listen to your sounds, and if you're going to spend that much, you probably would upgrade to a bigger video camera. Like the A6000, I can't use continuous autofocus while recording because it constantly hunts in and out, so either you're manually focusing or single autofocus. Most new cameras only record at 60p, which is 2x slow motion. The A6300's HD 120p lets you go to 4x slow motion at 30p or 5x slow motion at 24p

 4K video looks great, especially for a $1,000 camera, but it looks best at 24p, which is typical for film, but unusual for YouTube. If you shoot 30p, as we did, you get an additional crop, about 2x compared to a full frame sensor, and about a stop more noise. As a mic jack, it's a big upgrade from the A6000, but it doesn't have a headphone jack, so if you need an external device just to listen to your sounds, and if you're going to spend that much, you probably would upgrade to a bigger video camera. Like the A6000, I can't use continuous autofocus while recording because it constantly hunts in and out, so either you're manually focusing or single autofocus

Awesome camera

for me I ended up with a nice BIG Nikon D850

 But the thing is, why do people buy a top level APS-C camera, like the Canon 7dii or the Nikon D500? They buy it largely for sports and wildlife. Sports and wildlife require a great AF system, and long telephoto lenses. The A6300 has a great AF system. But Sony doesn't have ANY long telephoto lenses

 You need to use the control dial, and I found myself often accidentally pushing it to the side, to the ISO or drive function, when I was trying to move the AF point. For an enthusiast level camera, there should be simpler and faster methods to move the AF point. - Cramped buttons and lack of some direct controls in general. This is largely a tradeoff of being a small camera

 I shouldn't have to dive into the menu system, for example, to change the focus point mode. - Horrible battery life. But this is to be expected for mirrorless, and Sony has given it a small battery to keep the size and weight down. - Placement of the movie record button

 Even better for me, it has HFR -- high frame rate -- video modes. It is fun and simple to capture super slow motion video. I look forward to my kids' next Tae Kwon Do board breaking, it will be fun to watch them splinter those boards in slow motion.  Image quality: - For casual shooters, the jpegs will be very good
