The Souped Up Recipes is a stylish take on a traditional model and heats up quickly. It has a flat bottom and is ideal for stir-frying meals. This carbon steel pan is one of the fastest to reach the boiling point in our rate of heating tests and is consistently one of the quickest cooking pans in every meal test. This pan does not have a helper handle, whereas most of the other pans of this size did. This made carrying a batch of soup to the table more of a challenge. This pan is slightly textured, and after some use, the seasoning starts to wear off, but we did notice some foods sticking.  The pan came pre-seasoned from the factory.  2) Based off other reviews I didn't want to keep the factory seasoning thinking it would flake so I began a lengthy vinegar/baking soda/scrub pad show. It's been sitting in vinegar for hours now and I still haven't been able to completely get the seasoning off. Even after the seasoning has gotten to a point where I can see rust it doesn't look like the carbon steel is down to it's metal yet

  3) 500 degree heat for roughly 20min caused the wok to discolor and it left a bright blue spot on the pan.  4) The Handle quality needs to be upped. It's loose, doesn't screw in well and no one wants a wok full of food to drop down on their bare toe at medium/high heat levels.  Over all the quality of the pan is impressive, and I'm happy with it so far but it hasn't been seasoned and I haven't been able to get the factory seasoning off yet

 I like the hammered texture of the pan and the wood handle and lid have a pleasant stain.  The handle is my one major complaint, though. The pan ships with the handle detached which I noted when making the purchase. This allowed me to season the wok in my oven which was important for me (can't hold the pan over a "flame" on an induction stove)

Ok: not great but not bad

 Comes pre- seasoned but it did not last past the second time cooking. Saw cracks in the seasoning from the manufacturer as you can see in my picture. I saw another review about this but it did not dissuade me into purchasing. I don’t mind it as I can season over time or put it on my jet burner and add a new hardened layer

 It was annoying to clean after I set pan on induction top to dry after wiping. All these little bits of seasoning from the manufacture were coming off in droves. Wiped it with water and my soft bristle brush.  Spatula is not the best

 That way if yours does peel like mine and others it won’t deter you. If you bought a bare wok you have to season yourself before use to get it dark in color, then it shouldn’t bother you if the seasoning comes off. It happens. Thank you

 I have a better one that I'm choosing to use instead. First cook was fine and I followed the directions on use and cleaning. I don't yet have a complete seasoning yet so the nonstick is not 100% but it's getting there. I have induction and it is a bit finicky, having to be very careful to put the wok in the exact center of the burner

 Overall I think this will be my go to work for indoors. I also have a cast iron wok for my charcoal grill. It's bigger and easier to use when cooking since I don't have to worry about splatter!

After watching multiple videos on how to season a wok, I decided to try this wok. I first seasoned it in the oven (without the handle) as recommended by others and afterward have only rinsed it, wiped it down then put either avocado oil or good quality olive oil to season it over a very hot stovetop flame until it starts to smoke a bit. Then let it cool completely. NOTHING sticks now that it has been seasoned correctly

I have enjoyed using the wok. On my first cooking, the wok turned this bluish color after I heated it to 'smoking hot'. I contacted the seller and sent pictures right away. They responded within a day and assured me that this was a natural part of the seasoning process

So far, I'm pretty happy with this wok. Food doesn't really stick to it, though I have had to scrub a little sauce out of the micro-divets on the side a couple of times. It's nice to have a lid for it, too. We've used it several times over the last couple of months, and it seems to be holding up well

Easy to use and ready to go if you watch the video attached with the wok. I don't give 5 stars easily but this will fit your needs and be useful for a long time. This is more of a 4.5 in my book simply due to the handle being a little jiggly when tightened completely and only using it once so far
