 Full serrated also cool I'd love to get my hands on a plane, blade salt Hawk bill, but just had the serrated one here to show you you're, looking at sub 2 inches of h1 steel, highly rust, resistant and ladybug weighing in at point 6 ounces. Design makes it really good for cutting rope or cutting line

 You can grip it like this and pull towards you really nice. One thing that I really like about the ladybug and this Hawk bill version, because it ramps up so high in the back. In my opinion, this knife at this size has one of the best grips. Why, between the finger coils, the way they're placed the super-steep thumb ramp and the bi-directional texturing on a very small knife when you grip it index finger middle finger, ring finger and then put your thumb up on the ramp there

Hey bladeops: today we are doing a knife. Demo, that's been in our inventory for a while just thought: we'd bust it out and do a review to tell you what we like about it, etc. It is the Spyderco ladybug hawk bill salt. This is the ladybug 3 product code ly ls3 HB, so that all stands for it's the salt version

 After a few days of testing it out on various things I finally dulled it enough to need sharpening. It outlasted my Manix 2 lightweight on retaining a sharp edge which uses cheaper "utility" CTS-BD1 steel. The CTS-BD1 however sharpens like a dream with only a few swipes on a Spyderco sharpmaker. I was prepared for the zdp-189 PE steel to give me a lot harder time to sharpen and boy did it! Many people have stated similar in these reviews

 For that reason, I'm going to leave the review at 4 stars because while I still like the knife, I just don't love it.

 However, using a black sharpie marker I was able to see what part of the blade is sharpening and it showed how different the bevel/angle is on each side of the knife. I was essentially only sharpen one side of the knife and the bevel on the other side - super terrible. It took me about an hour to reprofile one side of the knife with diamond rods on the sharp maker so that they matched the other. Super unfortunate, for a company that usually does an amazing job

I've got a Ladybug in VG10 steel (the standard Ladybug model) and recently ordered one in K390 steel. I also own another Spyderco in K390 steel, and I can say from experience and from knowledge of the materials, K390 is definitely NOT stainless steel (having less than 10% chromium content, it cannot be scientifically considered a stainless steel), as is prone to rusting.  The description of this item is based on the standard VG10 version. K390 is extremely hard, but not stainless

.. about like AUS-8, a good quality, general use stainless. The yellow handle helps it from 'getting lost', and suggesting safety/work versus tactical intent

 If you want something a bit bigger (handle-wise) to hold onto, look to Spyderco's Dragonfly series made in the same three steel choices. Both Ladybug and Dragonfly have comparable blade lengths/shapes, the Dragonfly gives a longer/larger handle to grip.  The three Ladybug3's were: The ZDP189 super-steel version, the VG10 standard-high-quality-steel version, and the H1 rust-proof-steel version. The points for comparison were edge retention and ease of sharpening

, in most uses and with most users a wipe-down with a damp paper towel will prevent any corrosion, and most will find the VG10 to hold its edge quite well, and not quite as easy to sharpen as H-1 or AUS-8, it sharpens more quickly than ZDP-189 or other "super-steels". The VG10 is the one for most users - including that opportune stick-whittling or carving initials in a heart (not condoning!)

 This is the one for any who are around water or use their knives with that which can corrode them; also, consider the serrated version. > The VG10 is the standard for price and performance. Edge holding is in-between the H1 and ZDP189. While it can show rust spots if 'put away wet', especially after cutting an orange, etc

Serrated purchased from Knifecountry USA, through Amazon. Plainedge purchased directly from Amazon. This is my second time purchasing ladybugs, as the first 2 I received were both counterfeit.  Serrated: clearly used, came with red hairs/fibers and shredded paper on the blade

Decided that as a wedding gift, why not get the groom who love's knives, a knife! As well as a matching one for the bride. I figured the Manbug and Ladybug would be well suited together and picked up a bottle of wine, strung both knives in paracord, wrapped around the bottle, and voila! I was really tempted to do some cutting tests because I don't own any knives with VG10 but that wouldn't be right. I suspect both will hold up well and hope they enjoy these little blades as much as I enjoyed throwing this gift together :)
