 And this locking mechanism is very robust however it is tailored towards right handed users. Now they do make a dedicated left handed Paramilitary 2 version and I do hope to see that on the Tonto version as well. The blade grind on this Tonto is absolutely beautiful and I find it easy to open with the trademark Spidey hole. They also did a great job on the jimpy both on the finger troll and on the thumb ramp and it doesn't bite into your hand for extended use

 However, this review is going to apply to all other blade variations and even the base model. The regular price on a Paramilitary 2 is around $155 and they're charging $200 for the Tonto version. Now I can understand why the Tonto version may be a little bit more expensive with a compound grind and even more added material. However, I do feel that $50 over the base Paramilitary 2 is pushing it a little bit

Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Tanto | Blade HQ Exclusive | EDC Gear Review

I definitely do.  It was a ton of money and many of my 100 to 200 dollar knives are as good if not better then it.  So I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.  I wanna hear some unpopular opinions about knives that are highly touted!

Does anyone else have a knife they bought because of how highly people speak of it only to be let down after owning it?

 If only they made it with a wave feature, which, admittedly would ruin the looks of the knife, it would be the perfect tactical blade.

 The third time really is the charm! The Para 2 is an amazingly light yet capable defensive or utility blade. While it has a delicate tip, it is adequately strong for most tasks (it's not a pry bar). The steel, lockup, sharpness, grip traction, and overall ergonomics are all huge wins. Don't settle of you get a lemon or two because if you get a properly built Para 2, it won't ever leave your pocket

If only it had a wave feature.

 So what I noticed was loose in like gym shorts or athletic pants, where this is just in there rolling around, not a problem because you can get in there and get your hand on the knife. But what I noticed on a knife this long from tip up to tip down carry was when this is, say you got jeans on and you're clipped in, at least for me, you grab it and so you grab it here and you pull, well, to get it out, then you got to kind of sneak your hand down to flick it. So whereas when it was like this, you, you know, when you're carrying tip down, you know, you're carrying here and you slide it out and it's, it's almost right there. Oh, screwed that

 Those are things you have to figure out for yourself. All I have to tell you is that this thing is awesome. I love it. I love the tanto blade

 I love it. I love the tanto blade. It's really nice and thick compared to a normal paramilitary or like a PM2 or PM3 blade, which I think is nice because these are meant to be their heavier use knives and those tips are pretty fine. And I've seen a lot of guys break them

 So you pull it out and your hand is just a turn like that. Whereas for me, compared to like this, where you got to pull it and then do some adjusting to get the knife ready to go, ready to deploy. That's just me. That's my opinion and how I thought

 So whereas when it was like this, you, you know, when you're carrying tip down, you know, you're carrying here and you slide it out and it's, it's almost right there. Oh, screwed that. Best edc knife around 180 or less?

You’re probably sick of these, but I’ve scoured and am totally overwhelmed. I’d appreciate any suggestions. Given the criteria, what would you choose? 

Looking for a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. It would be EDC, folding, left or ambidextrous, blade between 3.25-4.5 preferably a combo blade (?) with a budget of $250. Need something that can be opened with one hand sometimes using a glove, and it’s got to be a strong. 

He’s a full time farmer and rancher (winter is calving season) who is addicted to tools, Snap-On specifically. He has tool boxes on every piece of equipment, but uses freebie knives 🙄

I’d prefer American Made, but know that’s sometimes only partway possible. Benchmade’s political issues have kept me away thus far.
