I’m trying select a bass. I’ve owned one before,  full scale,  but want to go with a short scale model.  I’m a total novice so I’m looking at max at $650.  I’ve only been able to find the Mustang to try and though I like the sound it’s by far the most expensive of the bunch.

Personal opinion on these Short Scales Basses.

 There is no excuse for the trash electronics in this thing. Not acceptable. They went with the cheapest Pots and pickups they could find. My kids toy microphone inside of a tin can sounds better

I own 2 Squire 51 guitars that stock have the finest tone anyone could hope for. These HSS Strats however have the worst tone ever. There is no excuse for the trash electronics in this thing. Not acceptable

Get ready to upgrade pots and pickups immediately.

 It's really not that big of a deal. Once in the video in the description we'll show you how to do that and you can just knock that out. And third, the fretboard, which happens to be Indian Laurel, is just, they're always just really dry. So, you want to just get some nice fretboard oil

 Let's go back to the bridge position. Alright, let's go back to the neck position real quick. Alright, now let's throw that Tumnus on. Let's do a little just rocking out

 Our tone is all the way up. Let's go ahead and flip it to the neck position. And let's get that middle position. That middle position is going to put both those pickups on

Fender Squier Mustang Bullet Electric Guitar Review and Demo

Little story here... I bought a PRS Silver Sky earlier this year. It had tons of QC issues, so I returned it and bought another one. That one had a ton of QC issues. Returned it, and bought a 3rd. I thought for sure as a PRS, 3rd time would be a charm. Nope. Returned. I was bummed because the guitar itself is awesome. (The QC issues were cracks in finish, chipped pickguard, eraser size dent in the fretboard, one of them had a rough finish near the neck pocket like it wasnt sanded,.... just a huge mess. I was stunned for a $2500 strat.)  

ANYWAYS. I saw a Sterling StingRay bass on sale for $230, and really have been wanting to get a bass. It arrived without a case, in some bubble wrap from Guitar Center. That had a me a bit worried.  

This thing is nearly immaculate. Fret work is perfect, nut was cut right, the finish is nice, straight neck, and it was perfectly in tune. WTF? A made in Indonesia guitar is better than a made in America PRS? I know it has cheap electronics and cheaper materials, but holy smokes i'm blown away. It plays like a dream.  

Are all of the made in Indonesia guitars/basses made in the same factory? If so, I might be checking out a new 6 or 7 string soon.

Just unpacked this guitar/ Noticed damage between the two sound knobs. Looks like something melted and scratched the surface. Need a replacement pick guard for free!  The neck is a nice comfortable shape Nothing fancy. It just works. You know, the fret work is what you would expect on $150 guitar it's sharp on the edges, but not obnoxiously sharp Squire bullets way back in the day would be way worse than this way worse, so It doesn't hurt to play but you definitely feel those frets like they don't let you forget that they're there The neck seems perfectly straight. I didn't hit any dead spots It seems like it's uh, intonated pretty well out of the box I don't know if the previous owner because I bought this used I don't know if the previous owner did an intonation on it But it seems to work just fine

 Oh There's a chip in the paint. Oh well, I Didn't mention that So here it is No reason I shouldn't plug this thing in right now and start playing with it. Let's check it out Oh So This is a bit of an unusual unboxing First impressions video I had to walk away from doing it last night after unboxing it because it was just frankly family time It's time to put the guitars away and you know, go have dinner and do family stuff for the rest of the evening So I let it sit overnight. I came back to it this morning Did some tuning on it fiddle around with it played some played some songs, you know jammed out with a little bit And I'm ready to have some opinions about this guitar First of all, I got to say I think this guitar is great for 150 bucks new This is a really solid guitar for a beginner or for you know A regular season player who's looking for something kind of fun and quirky

 You're supposed to relic them, right? I really like the body. I like how thin it is. It reminds me of my 90s to a sonic reissue uh feels Relatively resonant It's the kind of guitar where you play it unplugged and you're like, yeah this this kind of sounds good. It's clear It's resonant

I mostly play nirvana, so I was thinking to buy a squier mustang but they aren't available for lefties :/ 

Then I came across the squier 60's jazzmaster, are they any good? 

I don't want to buy a Kurt Cobain signature fender mustang (yet) bc they are way to expensive 

Any other recommendations are very appreciated!

[QUESTION] I'm a left-handed beginner guitarist and I don't know what to buy

 Action can be set low and neck truss rod adjusts easily. However I get quite a bit of string buzz and it seems to be coming from the bridge saddles. String buzz could also be do to short scale length and not enough string tension. If played with a light touch and not a heavy hand it plays quite nice and strings bending is easy

 If you're a beginner buy one of these because you'll find it very easy to learn on. Learn your three chords. Your first three chords. It's all you need

 First guitar you can't go wrong with this because it's simple. Because it's a nice comfortable scale length you're going to find it a lot easier to play. The action is fantastic. The strings that come on it are good
