That's 190 a year. If I can be more productive to the point where I can make back that 190 a year, 50 cents a day, then it's worth it.

Putting it all together, I went with a Stearns and Foster Rockwell Luxury Firm mattress for about 1900 on sale. 10 year warranty. Strong company. Tested out a store and felt great

 I can lay you down on a $900 Sealy Cooper Mountain IV and then take you over to a $2700 Stearns and Foster Cassatt of the same comfort rating and you will *feel* the difference. That extra money you are paying can go into the materials like Higher Density Foams, Micro Coils, differing coil systems, etc. I love both the mattresses and would sleep on them both myself, but when compared to each other, the S&F Cassatt wins out every time, because I can *feel* that $1800 difference. I am moving out of my childhood home and into my own apartment and I have some cash saved up and am looking to splurge on a nice mattress.

I’m in my early twenties, 6’1, 150 pound lanky dude who sits all day for work. I have poor posture and my back usually hurts from sitting all day. 

I’m mostly a side sleeper (and also end up on my stomach a fair amount). I do get hot when I sleep. 

Obviously, I prefer paying as little as possible but I don’t mind splurging up to $4000 if the mattress is worth it.

I was getting a lot of ads from Purple and eyed their 4inch premium hybrid for $3k. I had really high hopes and was excited so I went to Mattress Firm to try it out and...it was extremely disappointing.

I then tried a bunch of other mattress and I don’t really know what I was looking for. Like I understand the whole idea of pressure points and wanting to “hug” your sides but for basically all the mattresses I tried, I felt they were comfortable and “okay”. I was pretty indifferent. Nothing blew me away. Nothing felt like “the one”

The one mattress I liked more than the others was the tempurpedic pro adapt medium hybrid which runs for 3k. I also really liked one of the intellibeds but they are far too expensive at 6k.

I am currently sleeping on the Amazon #1 choice “Zinus 12 green tea memory foam” at home which actually felt more comfortable than most of the expensive mattress I tried in the store. I just sometimes wake up with back-pain. 

The only realistic option for me right now is the pro adapt medium hybrid. But I’m hesitant to spend that much money on a mattress as I’m not excited about it. Maybe I’m naive but I was expecting to be blown away by some of the more expensive mattresses. I don’t mind splurging if the mattress is “the one” but if I can’t find the one then should I just get a cheaper &lt; $1000?

The other issue is that I can’t figure out what I want? I like softer mattress where I kinda sink in but I also like firmer mattresses, it’s not really clear to me.


Side node: Also looking to get really nice linen and sheets and comforter (the whole 9 yards really) any accessories so if you have recommendations please suggest.
