&nbsp;The RGB backlight is zone-lit, although there&#39;s still a decent number of customization options through SteelSeries&#39; Engine software. Overall, it&#39;s a good option for those on a budget or just don&#39;t like mechanical keyboards.

 I have a Steel series mouse and I’ll probably buy another Steel series mouse after this one. But I’m sure I won’t buy their keyboards at least for a long time.  All in all, this is simply a bad keyboard for this price. Yes, it has many cool features but there are so many better keyboards that you can find so almost half the price

 Honestly, after some research on the internet, I am convinced that gaming brand keyboards are not worth it because they are almost always over-priced.

 It does all the thing they claim is does but I’m not the kind of person to put the time to get used to it. I simply prefer 3 simple LED light for Caps, numlock and scroll lock.  What annoys me the most about this keyboard in general is that it doesn’t hold up to older Steelseries products quality. To me, it is clear that Steel series is targeting the less experienced consumers and not professional gamers anymore

  All in all, this is simply a bad keyboard for this price. Yes, it has many cool features but there are so many better keyboards that you can find so almost half the price. Apex 5: Beautiful keyboard but not worth the money [low quality keycaps and terrible switches]

 The walls of these keycaps are around .9 to 1 mm thick compared to a $25 set of PBT doubleshot keycaps that I have from china, that are around 1.25 to 1.3 mm thick; doesn't sound like much, but it makes big difference when it comes to the sound and the feel of the keys

 there are other things wrong with this board but I don't have time to go in to detail on all of them, so here is a list of pros and cons. Pros: The shell of the board is well made, aluminum on top, has a good weight to it, and has no flex. The leds are bright and have a good color range. The volume roller is well made and has nice distinct detents as you turn it

I have lost faith in big brand name keyboards.

Compared to my other mechanical keyboards, this one feels cheap (I am typing this on the Apex 3). It's serviceable for the cost, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it if you have the money for a better quality keyboard. You can definitely feel the difference between it and lets say a Keychron or even a Reddragon or Corsaire Strafe. I definitely think that the Keytron K10 (aluminum) keyboard is more than $60 better than this one

Great Design/Software Needs Work

 BEWARE that in the Engine software, you must FIRST select the zones that you want to adjust, or nothing will happen. 4. The keyboard lighting goes off when the computer is shut down (this is good), but not when the computer sleeps. I don't use hibernate or any other sort of deep sleep, so I don't know how that will work

  I don't use the palm rest, but it appears to be as high quality as the rest of the keyboard.  In all, the cons are minor. The keyboard looks and feels so good that it's easy to overlook my dislikes. It oozes quality, despite the low price

 There's no unusual flexing, rattling, etc. The keys are well set, with not even the slightest rattle if you shake the keyboard. The key caps have no perceptible side-to-side play in normal use. 7

 Typing is supreme. The keys have a slightly firm feel, with just the right amount of tension that reminds me of the high quality keyboards of yesteryear. I find myself typing faster and with less errors. 5

Superior Keyboard

The biggest thing most casual gamers expect out of a gaming keyboard these days is the RGB led options and this keyboard does deliver on that front. It has the ability to adjust brightness and set the entire keyboard to 1 solid color or even switch to a rainbow spectrum. You need to download the SteelSeries Engine software from their website to configure or make customizations to the lighting. The user can feel like he has the same type of lights as the pros you can see used at a pro gaming competition

Nice entry level keyboard with lighting options

 - Nice tactile "bump" at the bottom of each key travel. Very fast typing and it's what most people coming from stock keyboards are used to. - Fully integrates with other SteelSeries products through the SteelSeries GG app. - App is easier to use than Corsair's app

If you want a tactile keyboard that's nearly silent, this is for you.  Amazing value.
