Incredible step backwards from the last model - things they don't tell you!

 Open this for glory, this is the microphone I'm guessing, so we've got cables, mic buff, so this is the second battery, very small, very thin, very light, that will just slide straight into the headset, this bag feels like a mic buff, just standard mic buff, we've got USB-C to USB-A, we've got USB-C to USB-A, why have we got two, no, connect to the headset, so if you don't want to use it wireless if you run out of battery or whatever, you should be able to just 3.5 it straight into your controller, headset there, cardboard, so that's quite chunky, so this is the command unit or control unit, it's very light, it's bigger than I thought, I was just expecting quite a thin thing, it's very light, you've got a line in, line out on the bottom, Xbox and a USB, so both USB-C's, twiddle twiddle, and yeah that's it, but yeah that's a fingerprint magnet, it's a lot bigger than I was expecting to be, but it's very light, so that's a good thing, and nothing else in the box apart from some silica gel, and then we've got the headset, so we've got a steel series little bag, very very nice, that's quality all over it, so you've got this kind of I'm guessing it's aluminium frame, you've got a suspension headband there so that takes everything off your head, that feels really nice, the adjustability on there, on both sides, there's no notches but that feels really cool, leather ear cups feel brilliant, super super squishy, yep and they twiddle so that will sit around your neck nicely, very little in way of branding apart from the steel series logo there and on that side, that's not bad, a bluetooth button there, a little bit of a mic on both sides, a little tractable mic as well, very very flexible, that feels like one of the best tractable mics we've ever used, that is brilliant and it sits in there perfectly, all this is going to be good, so we've got a mute button, we've got a power switch, we've got volume control which has got notches in it, 3.5mm and that is pretty much it, but that is a thing of quality, it's really well weighted, it's not heavy at all, we'll weigh it and put it in the full review, but I really like the adjustability on there as well, that is a superb pair of headphones, we've got some little notches there so if you want to take out, you can pop that out I guess, we'll just leave it as it is, why move stuff, might not fit, might fit, who knows, but yeah very very nice indeed, you can just see the drivers underneath, the meshes in there, so anyway that's a quick unboxing of the first look of the SteelSeries, get the box, Arctis Nova Pro wireless headset, huge thanks to SteelSeries for sending this and once we get hands on with the wired one we'll do a quick unboxing of that as well just to show you the difference, I believe it just connects, there's a wire connecting this to this at all times, but we will see, anyway if you like the video, thumbs up, like, subscribe, we'll use your stuff, that would be great, see you again, bye bye.

 I loved the different mic settings it had. (Changed how others heard your voice)  Unfortunately, my ASTRO A50s are superior to this headset in almost every way. My A50s have a heavier bass, higher highs and just a better, over-all crisper sound to them.  1

  Update 10/24/22  Lowering my review by a star. One of my batteries stopped charging in the dock or via headset entirely; Steelseries solution? Replace my entire unit with a new one but first requiring manual destruction of the headset by forcing the customer to cut headset wires, because they don't have battery replacements yet. First of all, why on Earth would you create broken garbage when the environment is filled with it as it is? Is there absolutely zero consideration to be green at Steelseries? If you don't have replacement parts, why are you selling the headset to begin with? If this is your policy, then just send a new headset unit for whatever the defect may be; even if environmental and waste concerns weren't a problem, am I supposed to now wait for a new headset to ship while my single battery unit that would've worked just fine in the interim sits unusable for who knows how long? It's sad because Steelseries had a different policy when I owned the Arctis Nova Wireless, which was simply to send a replacement unit for my faulty existing one: the correct way to go about it. I'm not sure why the policy has changed since but I didn't pay the premium price in a gaming peripheral sector for this kind of service

 There is no screensaver mode on the base station, even though like the last generation the screen is a very prone-to-burn-in display. The last gen got a firmware upgrade that introduced screensaving, so why is the new generation not including the same feature? That makes no sense.  4. Mic quality same but different: Depends on the person you ask, but in my opinion the new microphone is clearer on the high end and much muddier and static-y in the mids and bass ends

 ANC but why: They've introduced ANC but it's sheer garbage compared to something like my Sony MX4 headphones. A better comparison might be the ANC abilities of my Airpod Pros, but even the Airpods are better at ANC. Because of the aforementioned fitting/comfort issues due to the ANC cup and internal mic, I would say the addition of ANC is a downgrade compared to the last generation, that is to say I would prefer no ANC and the earcups of the last generation. A half-working feature is not worth all the drawbacks it introduces to this headset

  Active noise cancellation is not good. It's simply not better than just having the headset on your head with it turned off. Turning ANC off seems to just make the microphones outside your headset pick up and pass noise through - so it's really active noise passthrough, not cancellation.  Having the mic retracted but not muted causes all kinds of noise to pass through due to the configuration that lets you hear yourself talk so you don't shout into the headset

 I want accurate audio and I definitely don't know how to get that, I just know it sounds tinny by default.  Battery lasts a really long time.  Active noise cancellation is not good. It's simply not better than just having the headset on your head with it turned off
