 I contacted SVS, recorded the sound so that they could hear it and was told that my driver was bad in the sub. They're sending a new one now. I really hope this isn't going to be a reoccurring issue because I do love the sub and I'm not strong enough to carry it all the way to the dumpster. lol

This is a wonderful sub and produces an amazing sound. I purchased 4 months ago and have loved it up until about 2 weeks ago when it started making a crackling noise during certain action scenes. I contacted SVS, recorded the sound so that they could hear it and was told that my driver was bad in the sub. They're sending a new one now

Great Product Buutt...

 It had to be strong enough to satisfy home theater lovers, while at the same time being precise enough to satisfy discerning two channel enthusiasts. And this is more or less what they ended up with. And it all starts with picking a cabinet. And what they ended up with is a cabinet that's almost 18 inches in depth, a little over 15 inches in height, and a little over 15 inches in width

 I don't think it's perfect though. So yeah, let's get to that. So as with every Hi-Fi component that exists on planet Earth, there's no one solution that's going to make everybody happy. And at $1,000, I can see plenty of people saying, yeah, for that kind of money, I'm going to get this big subwoofer that offers a lot more boom boom

 Now I can't comment on how it sounds with home theater and I don't listen at super loud volume, so I can't tell you if it's really indestructible. I'm definitely not the guy to test that. But what I can say is that it's going to make for a very easy recommendation to critical listeners who want something that's quick and tight and precise and has good tone. It's easy to match with a wide variety of speakers

 All right, so getting right to it, the SB3000 is a compact sealed subwoofer that's designed to satisfy home theater enthusiasts who are limited on space and or music lovers who want something that offers deep, strong, yet precise bass. And in order to do this, they had a number of challenges. First and foremost, they knew they wanted something that was compact. They also knew that they wanted something that was, in their words, indestructible

Review! The SVS SB3000 Subwoofer - 2 Channel | Music performance.

After much research and reading a great deal about bass acoustics and subwoofer performance, I settled on the SB-3000. (My 5.1.2 system consists of a Yamaha Aventage RX-A2060 AVR, Klipsch RP-280 front towers, Klipsch RP-250C, Klipsch R-10SW Sub, and Klipsch RP surrounds and height speakers

 So much more definition and finesse. It can deliver far more than my wife or I can take—truly deafening. The build quality is very solid and I really like the metal grill. The SVS app is fantastic

 It puts my old Klipsch R-10SW to shame—no comparison. (Admittedly, the Klipsch SW costs only about 1/3 the cost of the SVS SW.) Music was definitely my priority for this upgrade, but I wanted impressive LFE as well. This has exceeded expectations in both departments

Made a Huge Difference!

 But if I don't have a home theater system and I am not interested in watching anything but just listening to music, then I would definitely go with rail subwoofers without a doubt. So I definitely recommend the SVS SB3000 subwoofer for anyone who was looking for a subwoofer for movies and also even for music. So there you have it.  When I put through test tones through this subwoofer I couldn't hear the bass but I felt the bass and definitely things were falling down in my house. So the ability for this subwoofer to dig down low is quite impressive and this especially is great for movies. Now on the back of the subwoofer everything is very easy to understand and very intuitive. There's LED lights to indicate where you are and indications of the phase, the volume, and also the low pass

 Now with this much power going into the subwoofer it is no doubt that you need a strong driver capable of delivering that bass instead of a chuffing or distorting sound. An SVS 13 inch driver with very heavy surrounds is capable of just that. It pumps out bass like no tomorrow and there is no distortion to be found even at high SPL levels. Now I found that very impressive because I used to have the SP2000 and in that case I did run into the drivers giving up before the amplifier did

Now in this case I find that I can crank up the volume to ridiculous levels to this house rumbling and things falling off without any distortion and just clean bass. Now of course in a bigger space it is very possible that this driver will start giving up and distorting and for that you will need a bigger subwoofer but in my current space I thought even the SP3000 was a bit overkill with this ridiculous output capability

SVS SB3000 Sealed Subwoofer is THE Sub to beat at $1000

 So after discussing my application with SVS, they suggested the SB-3000 would blend well with my current subwoofer so I got the SB-3000 and set it up in the room using a Denon 4500 and my existing 20 year old Definitive Technology 15" speaker, 250W sub the PF-1500. We tried the SB-3000 in a few different locations in a dual configuration and at each location did a listen test using a Dolby demo file called Amaze, Leaf, the intro to Edge of Tommorrow (a real sub buster) and other repeatable movie sections. Amaze has some nice thunder sections that exercise the subs low frequencies. Our impressions were that with 2 subs it was slightly better then with the PF-1500 alone

 We then compared each sub alone again with the Amaze demo. We could not really hear much difference between one or the other and perhaps we liked the PF-1500 a tiny bit better. The SB-3000 is a fine sub especially considering it puts out down to 18hz with a 13" speaker that allows its compact size and easily competes with a 15" driver. It probably the difficult acoustic room we must use, but in our case it probably just doesn't make fiscal sense to spend the $1K when we seem to get everything we need with our existing 20 year old sub

 So I mean, it's kind of a win win on all fronts, man. But I'm going to go ahead and do a real true to form that home theater dude type of comparison. That video is coming out right after this one. I'm going to be putting the 3000 series ported subwoofer against my ported 4000 series

 You guys know me, I love big bassy ported subwoofers. I like that big movie theater type of experience. But whenever you have that quick fast transience of these sealed subwoofers, it really helps out a lot and it gives you a little different type of experience than you would normally if you guys are used to those bigger type of ported subwoofer sounds. But I'm gonna go ahead in this video here, guys

 It's a plate amplifier class D amplification MOSFET 800 watts per channel or 800 watts going into the actual subwoofer itself. And then if you really really push them, that's 800 watts RMS. And then these can actually go up above 2500 watts. And that's because it has those really great MOSFET amplifiers in there, the really, really efficient circuitry that actually allow that to actually happen

 And something really strange on there because the 3000 series, it looks like this one delivers a little more output than the 4000 series. So I know there was kind of a little gray area on there with the 4000 and the 16 ultra. I noticed that the 4000 did more output on that graph than the 16 ultra did. So just having them in the house, I know that is not the actual truth, because these things are distinctly different

 I'm pretty sure if you went to reference level, the building would be leveled. My fears of returning this for something that puts out more SPL, are gone. With this placement and a little tuning with the app, there's a nice smooth curve down to about 28Hz, with the ability to hear it down to 20.  Movies quake and shake now, and Music is tight, fast and punchy and the room pressurizes very well

I would give 5 more stars on this product if possible. This little box is replacing a Klipsch R-112 Sub, which is of itself a great product.  What makes the SBS an improvement? Besides the overall sound, the app is fantastic for tuning in this sub, use it!. It really sets the SVS brand apart

 With this placement and a little tuning with the app, there's a nice smooth curve down to about 28Hz, with the ability to hear it down to 20.  Movies quake and shake now, and Music is tight, fast and punchy and the room pressurizes very well. This is a GREAT sub for the price, and I'd wholeheartedly recommend it.

 Without professional equipment, I suggest going to YouTube and searching for "Bass Test". There's a great video that drops a sine wave from 2000 Hz to to zero. It's a good way to notice your gaps in bass by listening.  In my particular instance, I live in an apartment with an open concept kitchen, there's a lot of space to pressurize for a 13 inch sealed driver, so I was afraid I was going to have to return it for something like the PB-3000

The first placement, was in front, near the center channel speaker. With this placement, I was able to rattle the walls and had a pretty good listening level, but there was a big hole around 50 Hz that took a lot of boost, and still was a little weak

Amazing Sub

 For my test I had the speakers crossed over at 80 Hz so the sub had a typical range to cover but no matter if I had the front stage set to small with an 80 Hz crossover so that the sub handled everything under 80 Hz or if I had the towers set to large with the settings in the receiver changed to LFE plus main with a 60 Hz crossover so that the sub and the towers would play in tandem under 60 Hz the sub blended extremely well. I used it in both those modes in all my testing and I put it through a lot of movie tests but let me just say that one of the standout ones was Aquaman. That's one of the newer 4k HDR movies with Adobe Atmos soundtrack and the bass in this movie never stops. I swear they added LFE to even fish swimming just because they could

 So now it's time for me to tell you what I think about the SB3000. First up, let me summarize what I'm about to tell you. I can describe the SB3000 in three words. That is small, powerful, and tight

 That's one of the newer 4k HDR movies with Adobe Atmos soundtrack and the bass in this movie never stops. I swear they added LFE to even fish swimming just because they could. In the final fight scene when they released the Kraken I know it's not called a Kraken by the way my room was erupting. The scene isn't just a great test for your sub it's a great test for your entire setup but the sub is what brings it together and that's exactly what the SB3000 did and it did a really great job at it
