Can anyone tell me what I have here? New guy who doesn’t know about drums and was gifted a set

Ive had this set for a few months now so here is my in depth unbiased review.. Over all a good sounding set but the cymbals are the bottom bottom of the line meinl's which by the way sound like individual little gongs The snare stand well what can I say but its the worst piece of equipment I think I've ever used its so top heavy the thing teeters way too much and don't even try to angle it towards you unless you want to be supporting it between your knees. I've had it with this stand! It's useless

Hey, so I’m a beginner drummer, and I’m buying my first kit! Can any of you recommend a good wood type for drums? I’m looking for volume and projection on the whole set, but a wood that allows for a low, body sound for the snare drum and singing toms. Basically, I’d prefer my toms to ring a bit and have that live, acoustic sound instead of sounding like high pitched bass drums with a dead, punchy thud. I’m considering three kits:

1. Tama Imperialstar (poplar) (6 piece w/ two floor toms)
2. Yamaha Stage Custom Birch (birch) (5 piece)
3. PDP Concept Maple (maple) (5 piece)

P.S. I’m also on a budget as a 20 y/o college student, so I don’t have the option of buying a separate mahogany snare or anything like that. If it really comes down to a separe snare, I see that the piccolo snares are pretty inexpensive. Does anyone know about those shallow, steel or brass snare drums?

Good Woods for Beginner Drum Set

 I played a friends kit with Evans double ply heads and the sound is a lot better imo than the single plys these come with. Planning on getting my use out of these heads and upgrading which is cheap to do. Kit didn’t come with a manual but just go online if you have any questions on how things are put together.

* Sonor - the bearing edges coupled with the slightly undersized shells

* Ludwig - a lot of history, and of course the snares (acrolyte, supra, black beauty); anything else?

What is each drum manufacturer's signature characteristic or "claim to fame"?

Awesome kit and it arrived earlier than expected. The black oak wrap looks great and even the stock heads sound good. I replaced them with coated Evans G2s (not pictured above) and they give the toms a deeper warmer tone. I was a little wary purchasing from Adorama because they primarily sell electronics and the kit had no previous reviews, but nonetheless delivery was quick and the kit sounds great! Thanks!
