When it comes to a less complicated wireless option that doesn't require a smartphone, we believe there is no better value than the ThermoPro TP07 Wireless. This meat thermometer consists of two separate units &mdash; the transmitter with wired probe and the programmable receiver. We were most impressed with how easily the two pair wirelessly and the signal strength going from inside the kitchen to outside on the grill. With features including countdown and count-up timers, internal probe temperature, and preset meat temperatures, we pleasantly found the receiver to be easily programmable. We also particularly appreciated the thoughtful addition of different color backlights for the LCD screen on the receiver, which clearly identifies vital moments in cooking: the first increase in temperature, within 15℉ of set temperature, and when the probe reaches the set internal temperature.
While both units can display temperature, only the transmitter displays the temperature at a decimal resolution. But despite this advantage, it's the transmitter that could use the most improvement. We feel that the unit could easily have a much larger LCD screen. More importantly, it would hugely benefit from something other than the simple hanger that easily slips from an oven handle every time we opened the door, such as a magnetic backing or clip. We found that the interface is much more intuitive than it appears, despite its clunky-looking button layout, and will have you accurately taking meat temperatures right out of the box.

 But the buttons SHOULD have been labeled MIN and SEC (like most kitchen timers) because that is how they worked. So you can time for up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds. That's a pretty glaring flaw in ThermoPro's process and production. 99 minutes isn't enough time for a lot of dishes, but I can live with it because it makes this type of cooking so simple

 For the price, this unit is fine. It's Amazon's Number 1 pick for these things. If it breaks I would replace it because it makes life a little easier and I am getting used to not having to worry if things are going to be under or over cooked.

 I didn't bother with preheating the oven because only the final temperature matters. I only have a couple complaints about this unit. The buttons for the timer are labeled HR and MIN and in the poorly translated little instruction book it said that it was possible to time something up to 99 hours and 59 minutes. Maybe earlier version could do that, I don't know

 Had I continued to rely on the ThermoPro I would have had a dried out over cooked (if not burned up) Turkey.  I have since tested the ThermoPro against my Javelin using my tap water. My water heater is set to around 127°. The Javelin read 130° when placed under running water

Nearly Ruined Thanksgiving

 WHAT A JOKE! After a few weeks of use, and we grill several times a week, the display would read HHH (meaning no probe plugged in). Come to find out if you wiggle the wire it would start to read. Well.

At first I thought this thing was great. Even bought the insurance so I wouldn't have to worry about it for a few years. WHAT A JOKE!  I figured out the problem. The stainless steel braided cover over the 2 tiny wires inside has to be kept from contact with the grill body, The coating of the wires inside will melt and the wires will touch and give the HHH code on the screen. Use a piece of aluminum foil or something to keep the wire insulated.  Also, Only the very TIP is needed for checking temperature so don't worry about burying the probe into the meat

The probe is cheaply made and that is the most important part...get replacements now

 I ordered the straight probe, and so far it has held up much better. Based on my ex[eriece, I recommend this thermometer, but with the straight probe, not the angled one that is shipped with the device. I like this thermometer so much, I ordered one for my brother, as a gift, but I purchased a spare (straight) probe from third party, because i didn't have confidence in the one the thermometer comes with. I know I could keep ordering new probes from the manufacturer, but what's the point? Really want to give 5 stars

Great tool but probe fails quickly

I have only got to use this once so as I get more used to it, I may wish I had rated it 5 stars. I do like the design and it is easy to use.  I really liked that I didn't have to open the hood of the grill to check on the meat. I set the temperature for the lowest recommended temperature for pork (160 degrees F) and went inside and did other things until the unit on my belt beeped

 Probe inserts into ribs, pork loin, turkey flank steak very easily. Having the blue tooth unit has kept me warm this winter as i get to stay inside while the cooker is outside. transmits through the basement walls, out to the front driveway or upstairs allowing me to monitor the temperature while still doing other things. The only reason it's 4 not 5 stars is I've tried it on my Weber grill for 2 steaks now and the probe read 140 degrees within 2 minutes of being on the grill

It's probably user error in probe placement but I was hoping for it to work right the first time. Guess I'll have to grill a few more steaks to get my technique down

I purchased the TP07 model to monitor the temperature while using the Char Broil Big Easy oil less infrared cooker and I am extremely happy with it. The cable length is plenty long and allows for slack as needed. Probe inserts into ribs, pork loin, turkey flank steak very easily. Having the blue tooth unit has kept me warm this winter as i get to stay inside while the cooker is outside

Makes grilling much easier. Highly recommend.
