I really wanted this to be bigger. My other inbrella has a larger surface so I stay dryer. This is pretty small for anyone who needs to walk move than from curb to car.

 The cheap folding umbrella that I bought this to replace had a similar issue - when I walked, the front half of my shoes would get wet. By the end of a 10-minute walk to the subway, the rain has soaked through. My new umbrella will alleviate that problem only part of the way, and I will still have to take smaller steps than I take in my natural stride.  TL;DR - The umbrella is 42 inches across when open, not 48, and I should have exercised the nuclear option and bought a golf umbrella

Feels sturdy and I love the feel of the handle (proper materials). So far so good over August and September. hope it survives heavier storms and the winter.
