I’d suggest the V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless for durability. They retail for about $350 on their website but they go on sale on Amazon occasionally.

Hello! I am a vegetable farmer looking for good quality headphones that can stand getting a little roughed up. Something that if they fall off or get set down, aren't impossible to find on the ground. 

At first I though the earmuff type would be ideal, but I'm worried about being too sweaty in the summer. Although earmuff type seems SO cozy for the winter. Maybe going to need two sets? 

Budget: We are pretty low on funds. I'd be willing to try and sell some stuff if it meant getting headphones that actually will last multiple seasons. Is $100 unrealistic?

 I listen to news radio/podcasts, country, rap, and classical.  

Long battery life would be important - will ideally be able to wear them all day without recharging. 

Any advice would be appreciated. Feeling pretty clueless in this realm.

Farmer looking for bluetooth headphones PA

 Another thing is for very low volume listening over Bluetooth, the heaphones just beep and stop all audio. You have to turn it up to hear what's going on because the Crossfades simply won't play lower than a certain volume over bluetooth. All the issues I've noted seem inappropriate for a headphone at this price point but hey, ymmv.  AptX is good but it still has the hiss problem Bluetooth has

 My $50 plantronics plays an actual human voice saying "Headphones Connected, battery level high." These, for $350 should either have a high quality audible indication or just a beep. Another thing is for very low volume listening over Bluetooth, the heaphones just beep and stop all audio.  Also the startup sound is very cheesy. It's like an 8-bit chime that is such poor quality they should've just made it a simple beep. Tin Hifi T2 Plus. I lack the experience & vocabulary to articulate exactly why I don't like them in terms familiar with headphone reviews/impressions. I can't fault any single aspect of them - bass is nice but not boomy, on the laid back end of things but pretty tight & clean, mids are well presented, treble is a bit splashy & lacks air but nothing egregious, and they have some pretty damn good separation & imaging - but as a whole I just cannot. It's almost like an uncanny valley situation, like it's an imitation of music that's eerie & offputting in its "almost but not quite there"-factor.

I don't know. It's weird. However original T2 >>>> T2 Plus every day of the week.

Campfire Polaris 2. They were $650CAD plus 13% tax in Ontario. In my opinion, the huge bass isn't worth the much worse everything else compared to my Moondrop Blessing 2's, which cost me about $200 less. Reviewing is very subjective, but several reviews gave the impression of excellent treble and good midrange, which they do not have. The Blessing 2 isn't perfect, they have much less bass, but on the whole they sound much better to my ear, and I can't afford to have multiple $500+ IEMs the switch out for different genres.

I plan to sell the Polaris 2 asap and put the cash towards and new cellphone :)

The earpads had to replaced at least once every six to eight months, cables lasted a few months at best, the plastic used for the earcups developed micro fractures after a few months of light use and those wings on the headband cracked and fell apart after only a few months as well. Screws stripped out the plastic they were screwed into and the V-moda logo on the headband has started coming off. 

The CFW2 currently has the drivers from the M-80 (since one of the CFW2 drivers failed) and is being held together by electrical tape and jb weld.

Sony WH1000-XM3 they sound so dull and without detail, sure they’re only Bluetooth, but even connected to analog input, or the Sony “hi-res”, the sound signature is still the same. The noise cancelling is very good, but the sound quality is well below average in comparison to any other headphone I have in the stable, even the Apple AirPods sound better. I honestly don’t understand why the WH1000 wins reviews for sound quality, I can only imagine that the competition must be much worse. I ended up selling them for 1/3 what I paid for them.

Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro Plus. Pads were tiny (like wider DT 770 pads, no space for the ears inside), isolation was insufficient, and the sound wasn't anything impressive. Portability of a DT 770.

I might have bought a Stax L300 or L500 had I not auditioned them, and I know I would've regretted it.

Any of my IEMs. I enjoy all of them just about equally, I’d be happy with any one of them. ZS10 Pro, BL-03, M300, Singer, MDR-7550, MH750, N30, and ER2XR all fit my preferred sound signature.

They are legit some of the most painful things I have ever put in my ears. Not from a sound perspective. The sound was exactly the barely adequate sound I remember from my iPod with apple earbuds days. From a form factor perspective. It's AWFUL in my poor ears

Honestly, it was an amp, the Cavalli CTH from drop. I loved the sound, but god did it have problems. Had to return my first 1 as the left side stopped working one day and the replacement always has a hiss that would bother me to no end. Ended up selling it and buying an Asgard 3. Kinda miss the tube sound, but not the annoying hiss! 

For actually headphones worst was Sony XBA-1, just could never like them. They sounded off. 

I also bought a pair of RHA T20i that aren’t bad, but I gravitate to my other IEMs: Future Sonic G10 (pop, electronica, hip hop) or Hifiman Re-262 (vocals, folk, bluegrass, classic rock). I’m thinking I’m gonna see if my dad wants my T20i.

It might sound weird but practically all of them with a few exceptions (the various HD6..... from Sennheiser I've had over the years, particularly the silver meshed HD650, my ex Stax SR-507, B&W P7 Wireless (not the wired version or its rubbish successors), or my current AirPods Pro among these exceptions).

It's quite weird how difficult it's been for me to find headphones I'm satisfied with (including the exceptions above which still don't satisfy me, it's just that I can tolerate them) given how easy it's been to be satisfied with my speakers set up (a pair of monitors from PSI Audio  + Dirac below 200hz or so).

The ones that I find most inexcusable are the current crop of BT ANC headphones. Most of them have rubbish frequency response curves and sound like trash, frequently worse than passive headphones designed more than two decades ago, and have absolutely zero excuses for it other than an utter lack of care for good sound as they're all active and feature a DSP that should be able to take care of that. Sennheiser HD 600.It's a bit odd because on the one hand they were and still are my all time favorite pair of headphones when it comes to overall performance and enjoyment on the other hand I could kick myself for buying them for two reasons.

The first reason is I literally bought them 1 week before the HD 6xx was announced, which cost 100 Euros less.

The second reason is I recently got an HD 599 on sale because I thought why not I could probably resell them for more if I ended up disliking them and I always wanted a decent lower impedance open back for use with my Playstation and DAP anyways as all my other open backs are high impedance.   
And yeah I am definitely not reselling them, they come really close to the HD 600s as far as detail is concerned, maybe a bit more grainy but unless I A/B them on the same song it's barely enough to notice. They are also fairly close when it comes to sound signature with only the lower mid/upper bass sounding slightly bloomy and they have a wider sound stage and much better imaging and that is already running the HD 600s of off a good balanced DAC and amp.   
Unbalanced I think I might actually outright prefer the HD 599s and since I paid 360 Euros for the HD 600s + balanced cable and 95 Euros for the HD 599s it just doesn't sit right with me.

I also kinda regret getting the DT 1990, because for whatever reason I started to enjoy them less and less the longer I owned them and because of a similar experience with later trying the DT 880 600Ohm. However I don't regret it as much because I think there's more of a difference between the two Beyers (then again only tested the DT 880s for a bit) and for a few specific things they still blow everything else I own out of the water.

Philips A3 Pro. I was new to the hobby and already had bought some IEM's, all of them kind of "analytical" or neutral sounding and I thought of giving a chance for a more FUN signature (rain on me with all your V-shaped headphones) so I went for the Philips and it was really fun, for a week. Since then I've never bought something else that was not L-shaped or mid-forward (love my grados). But I still think if you're new to this you have to take some risk to discover what are you looking for. V-shaped is cool, but can be over fatiguing.

Skullcandy crusher wireless, at the time I did not know about this sub and just looked at tons of youtube reviews all saying "its good go get it"... If only I had known about this sub.

Whether it be something that didnt hold up build quality wise, something that didn't live up to the hype, a sound signature that wasnt for you, or simply something that didnt really do a job your other headphones weren't already doing.

What headphones do you most regret buying?

this is bittersweet, i love the design style (rose gold). the sound is better than what i had. the bluetooth works great, lasts about 10hrs, charges in 2 the case looks awesome BUT it has so many flaws in terms of comfort and construction.

 i had to bend the headband several times AND add filler tissue in the interior of the earpads (below them) so i could use them, so all fine now, great i went from 15m to 3hrs confortable use, but the the headband starts to hurt cus is has little to no pading. The buttons for bluetooth make a clicky noise when pressed except the one to increase volume, broken?i saw in another review the bluetooth button stoped working, wonder how long till mine breaks. The super vents in the case i will never use them because the plastic is hard to get on and out, and when u do it the material bends enough for you to think it will soon break. overall i like them anyway , i will keep them, but too many flaws for a product of this cost

 the bluetooth works great, lasts about 10hrs, charges in 2 the case looks awesome BUT it has so many flaws in terms of comfort and construction... the super clicky hinge broke only on one side the very first day of minimum use wtf, the clamping force and the earpad make it very painful to wear new

i want to love this headphones but to many little flaws prevents it.

V Moda crossfade M100s-mine are still going strong 5 years and two cords later. The sound and build quality are absolutely amazing. They also come with a very nice travel case.

I'm searching for possibly the ultimate Buy it for Life headphones, and after a long time i think here is what the requirements are to keep the electronics simple and able to last a LONG time. I'm not that tech smart so i was wondering if someone can suggest something that i can purchase, as there are endless pages of different kinds of over the ear and I'm going mad.

I envision long lasting headphones to be wired via an Aux cord, not bluetooth. This can help avoid bluetooth problems down the road, battery failing issues down the road, or simply battery degrading issues with normal wear and tear use. This would also prevent any possible damage to a micro usb port on the actual set of headphones.

Ideally the headphones would have an aux plug on them, so that if the auxiliary cable does get damaged through wear and tear, its as simple as ordering a replacement if you're not planning to do any soldering work. With that note, ideally the microphone for phone calls would be in the aux cable so if the cord fails, a replacement will be built in.

Obviously the over the ear headphones should sound decently. I have purchased a set of Sony ones for approx. $40 CAD but returned them due to the cord not being removable. Otherwise they seemed alright (model number sony MDR-Zx310). However not exactly what i was after.

So if anyone has any suggestions i'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
