 So, with regards to the groupset, it has a 50-34 compact chainset. It comes with an 11-32 cassette at the back, and again, that's more of a beginner's gearing, so you should be able to get up any kind of climbs with this one. Thanks for watching.  So, this is a really, really light frame. This is a beginner racing frame. It's more of an endurance geometry, so it means that you could probably do a lot of distance on this bike because it weighs a lot less, especially when you're going up a climb, you get that less weight to power up the hill. This bike weighs around nine kilos, so it is quite light, especially for beginning in racing

I’m having a look around at finally getting a road bike. I mostly do quick short rides around the city but plan to do longer rides (Singapore’s not that big so not that long, 100k probably). There’s a couple of Decathlons in my area and I’ve seen their road bikes but I don’t understand the specs to know whether a bike is good or not. 

The current bike I’m using on the road is my uncle’s 15-year old Giant mountain bike (can’t tell you the model for the life of me) with Panaracer tires. 

So how good/bad are Decathlon bikes? Should I start with getting one (I know they’re awfully heavy) or look into a Giant/Trek/Liv/Polygon/Merida bike instead? Budget around SG$1,500.

Budget is around $1000-1500 and looks like the Triban is around $1200. First Ironman, and pretty new to cycling in general. 

5ft 10.5 inches, 170 lb, about a 32 inseam, so would probably go with the size Medium. 

I saw a couple of comparisons to the Canyon Endurance AL-7 but looks to go for about $1900. Any additional recs or feedback about the Triban would be appreciated, thanks!

*I’ll also be buying clip on aero bars, and I don’t really have any interest in buying a TT bike starting out (yet)
