Nothing small will do bass convincingly. Well, maybe a pair of Vanatoo Transparent Zero wouldn't be the worst at that. They're 7.5″H x 4

I've had some $80 Logitech THX speakers that come with a Sub for over 10 years and love them.  3 inches wide.

My desk at work is 51" wide and I will be getting a 36" wide ultrawide monitor. This leaves me around 15" of space for some speakers. Now there are plenty of good speakers that are less than 7.5" wide but because I want the speakers to be pointed at me, they need to sit diagonally - which means their horizontal footprint turned must not be wider than 7.5". That leaves me with speakers around the 5-6". Any advice for a pair of small speakers (and an amp as well) that sound great if price is not a consideration?

I have a small desk with a widescreen monitor, but I'd still like a pair of high quality speakers, any advice?

  In the same office I have a 6.5 WPC tube amplifier connected to a pair of Wharfedale Jade 3s which are bi-wired with Canare cable. That's six point five watts - compared to more than 40 watts per channel, which is almost enough to DOUBLE the volume based on dB/watt calculations. Using the Windows Tidal app (with access to HiFi and Master quality streams) as a source for each of these two systems, the tubes/Wharfedales simply blows the Vanatoos away

 They really aren't that much less powerful sounding AND they are USB powered! No kidding.  The Transparent Zeros are a passable system, so-called expert opinions about their ability to change your life and they way you listen to music forever notwithstanding. But, and I cannot stress this enough, they are NOT so good that you should be comfortable dropping the bones to buy them without ever listening to any of the competition. I wish I had

 I'm willing to forgive almost any convenience issue if a system sounds amazing, and this one just doesn't.  * Sound flat and even muffled. Try comparing them to equivalent JBLs. * Tweeter "hides", no air in the treble, treble controls have to be turned up all the way and then the 10kHz-15kHz band gets way too strong

 * Bass is there, but not what I'd call solid. * They'd probably be good for audio projects where you want to listen in a clinical fashion, rather than for pleasure. These haven't gotten my toes tapping yet. * They sound like computer speakers

Was really excited to use these. Have had them saved in my favorites for 2+ years and finally pulled the trigger. When I got everything set up and turned it on, I was surprised by how off it sounded.  I did some research and dialed it in (equalized using "EqualizerAPO" according to Audiosciencereviews measurements) and the sound improved a bit (more neutral with less distortion), but something still seemed off

 I did more research and found out the 3.5mm plugin is pretty low quality on this unit (it downgrades the signal to 24bit 48hz). Average Sound Can't Compete with Good Budget Heaphones

I personally despise Audioengine speakers. I think they look nice but produce a bloated mid-bass I couldn't handle.

Do people have any recommendations for speakers that can fit on a small desk to connect my laptop or phone to. On around a £500 budget, heard about audioengine A2+, HD3 and other small speakers that are the right size but not sure what's best for a small desk where I dont have space for big bookshelf speakers.

Best small desktop speakers

 They look stupid and the kick-stands are stupid. I'd have to change the kick-stands around and one cannot listen to them without stands, so then they aren't small anymore. I've listened to discontinued Emotvia Airmotiv 4's for years and they might not "shine" as much but they are better. The bass on the Zeros killed me

With the Transparent Zero, it has a sub(woofer) out. You can get the. $600 SVS SB-1000 Pro paired with it and you'll rumble. It'll make you realize that subwoofers are the way, not the puny headphone and IEM bass performance, if you really want that bass

Hello, I'm listening to various genres, and I already own B2 (too neutral for me, + not a huge fan of it's soundstage which feels overly "busy" at times), Kato, ikko's OH7 and dt 1990pro. My favorite being the OH7 : music feels so emotional and engaging with this IEM, and in the end I'm an audiophile, not a sound engineer! Also, I hate the general consumer tuning of most ANC headphones I've tried, apart from the lack of technical performances, it often feels lifeless to me.

I mostly listen to electronic musics and BASS, but I also like many other genres, I can't stop listening to woodkid's Iron ep lately for example, I have a funk and soul playlist that I like a lot and I'm exploring coldwave and retrowave for a couple of months. A little bit of indie rock and jazzy hip hop too.

Sources: shanling m3x - my most used one- btr5, Sonata HD pro and EVO 4 for headphones.

I tried a variety of headsets too but was mostly disappointed with them. I couldn't try the aeon noire though, and I didn't have much time to really evaluate the Clear mg, but if one of those is as good as everyone says, maybe I could up my budget a little bit and settle for a headphone, but to be honest, start to think that I may just be more of an IEM kind of guy ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ . Zero experience with decent speakers.

My aim is to get a new way to experience the music I like, but mostly in an emotionally engaging way.

And I'm a little bit treble sensitive.

polyvalent fun IEM for 1k €, mybe open to headphones too

 I suspect it's an overamplification issue.  Why is it so hard to build speakers that are quiet when not playing anything? Somebody please enlighten me, I'm not a sound engineer.

Moving to a new place with a relatively large desk. I was hoping to get some 2.0 speakers. Under my desk is relatively crowded so I can't use a sub. I was looking at edefier R1700BT but later realized it is lacking an opt in. 

I'm looking for something below 200$. Something that is not bigger than the 1700s

For why I am looking for opt in: I just had the worst luck with analog inputs I guess, if anyone can share their experiences/what I might be getting wrong on analog inputs I may just buy the r17000bts as well.
