 So I do think switching to this could be beneficial for you. I wouldn't say like the Pro Soft is the most forgiving ball in the market and I wouldn't say it's my favorite. I will leave a link down below to a video I've made of my favorite golf balls for kind of your average player. And I will say I did make that video before reviewing this, so just keep that in mind

 So the first thing I look for in a golf ball is how forgiving it is and I'm not a low handicap player myself so I can normally use all the forgiveness I can get. And the thing I do like best about these is they are softer and that's going to be better for like average players. I still think that's the case with the Pro Soft. I definitely think it could be better for a lot of kind of weekend golfers, people with kind of mid to lower swing speeds, that kind of thing

 Breakdown, performance, I'll give it an eight out of 10. Quality, an eight out of 10. Value score, eight. Good, not the best, not the worst, so kind of middle

You've probably seen the ads recently about these new golf balls that are half the price as some of the higher-end balls on the market. They're supposed to be very simple and in this post, I'm going to be reviewing the Vice Pro Soft golf balls and talking about whether or not they're worth picking up.

So, how did they perform (compared to the Callaway Chrome Soft)? The Pro Soft balls from Vice are designed for average players with low to mid swing speeds. The Vice was a little bit softer, had a slightly higher trajectory, and was around 3 yards longer on average. It also had a decent amount of spin around the green and was pretty similar to the Chrome Soft. Overall, the performance was quite good and it's something I'd recommend.

I'm not saying the Vice Pro Soft is for everyone because they're not. I'm not a low handicap and I don't have a fast swing speed. This ball is designed for my game and I prefer a softer golf ball. If that's you then it could work but if not, you'll probably want to go with something else.

VICE PRO SOFT GOLF BALLS: An Honest Review - YouTube

My wonderful golf-widow partner went and bought me some ProV1s for Xmas. Having played religiously since then, I'm obviously on track to lose all 12 balls pretty soon.  
I'm a 19 HC and could definitely feel the difference from my usual second hand-balls. I don't feel like dropping top dollar on ProV1s so I was wondering if anyone uses any cheaper balls that they've found to feel pretty similar to these badboys?

Closest Cheap Balls to ProV1s

Matte finish

 Vice go on about dimple patterns and how many dimples it's got, and it's a three-piece cast urethane cover. So basically, they say it should spin like a premium ball, because it's got that urethane cover. And there's always a matte finish for improved visibility during ball flight. What we're going to do, we're going to do some on-course bits, so you can see how it performs in the real world on a golf course

 Right, we're down at Thetford Golf Course in Norfolk, we're going to do some testing, some real ball testing on the course. We're at the practice ground, a little short game area here at Thetford, just because it's a little bit busy on the course at the moment, they've got a society on, and I don't want to get in the way of paying customers. So what we're going to do, we're going to go hit some 58 wedge shots just here. I've got a flag out there, what was it, 75 and a half, 76 yards away or so, and we're going to hit that with a 58 wedge with some Titleist Pro V1s and also the Vice Pro Soft, the new ball from Vice, and see how they perform

Right, 58 wedge, two balls, Titleist Pro V1 and two Vice Pro Soft, going to hit this into this green, very small green, little practice range, 74 and a half yards away, 75, 74, either way we're going to hit this into and see how they react and see how they spin on GC2. So let's hit this one into the green, hopefully I can get close to the flag, wind's not going to push it a bit, that's just at the back left of the green, yes, carried 81, 9390, that was Titleist Pro V1

 So let's see if we can do the same with the Vice Pro, a bit closer to the flag will be a nice one. That was interesting there, carried 82, what did that spin up, 9450, so I can't remember off the top of my head what was the other one, 9390 or something, so 9450, so within reason fairly close. Let's hit another one, try and get the strike as best I can do as close as I can, oh that's too hard, I've nailed that, nailed that a bit too much, now this green does slope a little bit from back to front so it does offer a little bit of help when you want a little bit of zip, that was 99, so that is getting up there, that's the Titleist Pro V1, that's the last one now with the Vice Pro Soft. Another one in there, that's better, at the back of the green again and then 9515, so the at the moment the highest spinning one is the Pro V1, now bearing in mind we're talking like the first two shots are hit, Pro V1 then the Vice, there was next to no difference in it and that was all down to strike, then the next shot I hit with the Pro V1 spun up a bit more, 99 something and then this one, the last one I hit with the Vice Pro Soft was 9515, now all of them basically carried, you better see by the camera, I can't see down there, the camera will pick it up, how close they were in lengthwise did to carrying the same distance but it'll be interesting to see when it hits grass, we're only talking between sort of like 94 and 99, I'm only talking about 500 rpm difference between all the four shots

Vice Pro Soft Golf Ball Review Against Pro V1 - YouTube

I finally settled on the Vice Pro Soft and I think it will be my go-to ball for a while. It feels fantastic off the putter and around the green, and it has a softer feel and straighter ball flight (for me at least) than the more premium options I tried.

I played a ProV1X basically all this year and frankly really like it. Stops great hitting into the green, feel like I have a predictable roll out for chips, and I like how it feels off the putter. 

That said, I’m wondering if something less spinny may help me with straighter shots. Maybe a “if it’s not broke don’t fix it” situation tho, cause I’ve been playing really well, but I wanna try something else just to see if it possibly is a better fit. 

Any balls you all would recommend trying? Medium-ish swing speed; 250 avg yard drive for reference.

I've only got back into golf this year, i played alot at school as i lived next to a golf course and after not playing in about 7 years i decided I'd get back into it.

Living next to a course as a kid meant I'd always go golf ball hunting in the OB section, and i pretty much only played ProV1s because i had heaps and it was cool, right?

Anyway, now that I've moved away and don't have the luxury of unlimited balls like when i was a kid, I've been wondering if balls actually make a difference at my level (don't have a handicap but i typically shoot mid 80s, 90 if it's a really bad day). Currently using the srixon Q-star as it was $100 for 3 doz (NZD so i thought that was pretty good) and they seem good for the price, but my question is, what do you use and why? Do you think it makes a significant difference to justify a few extra bucks?

I bought some of these to practice my putting with, as they provide excellent feedback on rotation. However, I played with them for the first time the other day and found them to compress pretty well, provide good distance, and spin.

Wondering what everyone else's experience has been with the Srixon Q-Star (does not necessarily have to be Divide color).

Also, they are pretty easy to locate when they aren't in the fairway....which is more frequent than I'd like! :D
