 So next we have the surround speakers and what the surround speakers actually plug into is the subwoofer itself. So you'll have to position the subwoofer uh. You know near your couch or wherever you're sitting so that you can actually put the surround speakers behind you to get the proper surround sound. So you can see all the speakers have a pretty low profile, look with just being blacked out, so you can actually link up your voice assistant as well to the sound bar

I don't really use it too much you'll see, there's separate ports for plugging into your audio source and for the power source. So, like i mentioned, you actually have two cables in the subwoofer for your surrounds

 If i'm saying that right also, if you're curious to know the soundbar, is about three feet wide and about two inches tall, so the subwoofer is a six inch subwoofer and it has base down to 45 hertz. So although the subwoofer is wireless from the sound bar, it does require a cable to plug into a power source, so you can put it anywhere in the room as long as it's plugged into a power source.  That'S something i actually didn't have with one of my old sound bars. So that is actually really nice to have on this also make sure when you click the effects tab, which is the bottom right, make sure that your surround is on. If you want them to be on uh just to make sure that everything's working properly then for setup, you can actually test your surround sound just to make sure everything's working everything um set up correctly. So if you do speaker test - and you click ok left front left front, you can hear center center right front, right, front, right, rear, right, rear, left, rear, left rear and then the subwoofer [, Music, ], okay

Vizio M-Series 5.1 Soundbar Review (M51a-H6) | Best Budget Surround Sound!

Blade Runner 2049&rsquo;s crash scene, in which Ryan Gosling falls from the sky in something that looks like a military-grade Lamborghini that flies, features multiple explosions that pack some serious rumble through the M-Series 5.1. The film score alone sounds majestic and thunderous through the system, which does an excellent job of getting the right amount of rumble and thunder out of the sub in its default setting&mdash;it&rsquo;s a theater-like experience out of the box. 

The Vizio M-Series 5.1 (M51a-H6) isn&rsquo;t flawless, but if you put in some relatively simple work tweaking the sound signature with the remote, you can get to a place where there&rsquo;s wonderful balance without distortion, and the rumble of the system doesn&rsquo;t suffer for it. The sub delivers impressive, theater-like thunder, and music sounds powerful in the lows and detailed in the highs. For a little bit more money, we're fans of the $400 Klipsch Cinema 600, while for less, the $200 Sony HT-S350 delivers solid audio for the price, though neither offers surround sound

With the system switched to Music mode, it delivers powerful low-frequency depth on tracks with intense sub-bass content, like The Knife&rsquo;s &ldquo;Silent Shout.&rdquo; Unfortunately, there&rsquo;s some distortion in play at high volume levels. You&rsquo;ll need to dial the bass levels down significantly to avoid it&mdash;the distortion seems to be in the midrange drivers of the soundbar itself, not the sub. At moderate volumes, there&rsquo;s no distortion, and the system sounds powerful, with deeps lows and crisp highs

 The rear speakers can struggle with it, but the trick is to dial the bass back a little (you can also dial the surround volume back if necessary). You can still keep the sub levels at the default setting, or even turn it up if you really want extra rumble that doesn&rsquo;t get routed to the rear channels, as the sub doesn't distort.

 This one's got more glue to it, wow that's! This is a long, cable, probably like 20 feet at least yeah. I don't need to use all that so th this one here is what's going to go in the back of here, this one is what's going to plug into the back of the subwoofer okay, so this on the back of the satellite this one to the sub. Okay, here we go so this plug back here um. Hopefully i get on the right color just like that um yeah, then this one down here who's going to be left to this side

 Now now i normally don't plug in power until everything is plugged in. So i always wait so i'm gon na get my ps5 plugged in and then i'll plug in the soundbar and plug in the sub, and everything should connect automatically. I almost forgot before you do all of that. It'S always best to have the remote out with batteries

 If you can see, no, you cannot see it. I have the power wire here and plug it in now, so i see that one cable go through the hole, but that's for my camera soundbar, i plugged it in now. It says searching now it's time to plug. In the sub okay sub is plugged into power

 I mean for a six inch sub, it's pretty impressive. It'S not a super high end sub. It'S not really punchy necessarily, but if you want to feel like you're sitting in a theater in the comfort of your own home, this system absolutely pulls that off now with a lot of sound bars. I hear other pitfalls like the treble is far too sharp

 This is far beyond that. This blew away my expectations and i think it's going to surprise you as well again, if you're looking for an experience, that's fairly close to a movie theater in the comfort of your own home. This sound bar is a knockout thanks, as always for watching everyone were you as surprised by the outcome.  At this price point on the back of the surround speakers, you'll find an rca port. That'S how it connects to the subwoofer, which gets the surround signal, wirelessly and then above that is a little screw hole that you can use to mount the speaker now. If you're at all familiar with vizio sound bars, then you know that you get everything you need in the box. So let's take a look at that

 Now sound bars aren't really known for being musical per se, but i did listen to some music and it sounded great. The fidelity that you got out of the movies translated well to music. Listening as well, when you have good fidelity, you have good fidelity now, there's not a lot of instrumental separation and the sound stage isn't super deep. I mean this is not an audiophile product

I like the sound.  Dolby Atmos does well filing the room with sound.  I have issues where the sound bar does not turn on when I turn on tv, and issues where the audio cuts out so it forces tv sound to take over.

  He sent me a link to a webpage to get the return/replacement authorized but the webpage didn’t work.  They also required putting a hold on my credit card before they would ship the replacement which is ok, but the secure webpage for the credit card didn’t function with an Apple computer.  Anyway, it took 5 phone calls and a few hours to Vizio CS to get the replacement process started.  

  The condition worsened until the soundbar just cycle on and off constantly.  I power cycled and it would work for a few minutes before acting up again.  

I purchased it near the end of March and it worked flawlessly for 6 months.  in September, it started having problems connecting to the subwoofer (soundbar would say “subwoofer not found”). Another M51a-H6 failure

Easy hook-up, the TV recognized the soundbar immediately and it was only a few adjustments away from reasonable sound.  It sounds good but I believe the room is just not feasible for surround sound and I may have to transition to all speakers being in the front.  I did watch We Were Soldiers on factory settings and you could hear the explosions 50 yards away outside in the neighborhood.

I would suggest buying the soundbar for the Dolby Atmos sound which is only on the M-series bar.. I overwhelmingly say this soundbar has the greatest value of them all.  The only reason I would not buy it is if you are not technically savvy, or unless you know someone who can easily troubleshoot settings
