Weber EG-1

​. My thoughts and comparison of the EG-1 vs 1ZPresso JX Pro for filter coffee:. \- The design is so well thought out and just nice, grind adjustments are easy, swapping burrs is simple, grinds quickly. I have no cons, absolutely love it.

Configured with [wood it's $9,160. And the grinder is a Weber EG-1 that starts $3,500. Just take all my savings. Or my 2012 Infiniti if you throw in the grinder.

This is due to the flat burrs in use and I would recommend if you generally use light roasts or Nordic roasts. It is a messier grinder compared to the niche but it is built like a tank and the craftsmanship and tolerances are top notch. EG-1 - I've had it for a month and first thing you'll notice is that it is huge and also built like a tank. The dosing ring is stepped vs the niche and mono which are stepless (not an issue but something to note).

Best filter I've ever had in my life. My filter buddies also tell me the Ditting 804 or 807 with Lab Sweet Burrs and Weber EG-1 with proprietary Weber unimodal burrs are "end game" for filter, if you want to reach for the stars.

Acaia is shooting for a price around $1,600. I have a Weber EG-1 that I love and it took me a few grinders to finally take the plunge. Based on the fact that this grinder is a collaboration between Acaia and Weber, I believe it will be a very good grinder, but from what you are thinking right now, it would be more than you want to spend.

If you’re ok with just half decent result in either cases and just want something that would work, then any grinder with an easily repeatable adjustment can work for you. From hand grinder like J-Max , to budget option such as DF64 , mid-price Niche , to big budget item like the Lagom P64/P100, Weber EG-1 , etc. But if you’re looking for the absolute best result then it would be difficult, this is because the grind distribution needed between espresso and filter coffee are very different , and no single burr set is capable of producing both with the same burr geometry.
