We'll probably leave that for the ten minute mark but yeah five minutes we're just checking on it taking a look and then we're gonna flip it and just see what it's gonna do after that. So it's gonna sit we'll check back on it in just a few. So we're at the six minute mark let's take a look to see how our burgers are turning out so far

 I think you're gonna really like the content so without further ado let's go ahead and get this this grill heated up and go from there. So as I always say go ahead and get it started with the good old chimney. It just keeps all of your your lump charcoal together keeps it you know compacted well so that it starts burning pretty quickly like you see here. So I went ahead and fired me a chimney up give that about 15 minutes give or take for this charcoal to be pretty great over

 That's how you know it's gonna be really hot and ready to go. So in the meantime we're just gonna sit back wait for that to finish and go from there. Alrighty so you can see that our Smoky Joe premium is smoking really good at this point. It's been smoking now for about 10 minutes so we'll probably give this another 10 just to really let everything stabilize and then we'll be ready to throw our burgers on there

I use good dogs, Only Nathan’s Colossal or Hebrew National 1/4lb when I can find them. I never use ketchup or mustard but sometimes I use chili. For me, a good quality dog doesn’t need anything else. This brings me to the dilemma of heating them up in a pan or taking the time to use charcoal on the Weber. I don’t feel like I can taste much of a difference, so I wanted to see what the Reddit family thinks on this issue.

Are hotdogs worth the charcoal?

 So as you can see it's got this metal frame bit on the top here that connects to the handle so you can just walk that down the beach or wherever you're going. That then drops down like so, that then hooks onto this metal pint here which then creates a sort of like a ridge for it so then when you are cooking and you open your lid that sits quite nicely there so you haven't got to put your lid down on the floor every time. On the lid obviously you've got a nice handle with a shield for the metal there so if it gets too hot and then you've got your gauge for controlling your temperatures. On the inside we've obviously got our cooking grate so you put all your food on and then down here we've then got our grate that you put all your charcoal on so obviously we'd recommend a chimney starter and then pour that onto there so that would have all your charcoal sat on there and then in the bottom there we've got like a little ash catcher so when your ash drops through that grate you can then collect it all in there and then just throw that away

Frustrating Bottom Vent

 In fact it's about the size of a full size Weber grill just with these little squat legs which seems kind of awkward to me but the good news about it is it has both the lid clamp of the Smokey Joe Gold and the bottom mounted air control and ash tray of the Smokey Joe Silver. So that would be an option I suppose. For me it's kind of an awkward middle ground. If I'm going to take a grill that large I might just take a full size grill whereas this is nice and easily portable

So the big takeaways from this are the Smokey Joe, it's a well made grill, they're sturdy, they last, about as small as you could practically use to do anything on a grill. Don't get hung up on the Silver Gold being a qualitative difference that you have to buy the Gold

This traps all the ashes inside so you can carry it away faster or not make a mess

Clueless fuckwit wanting to get involved. Basically I’m uk based (the USA seem to have it going on). bbq lover but I’ve only had the working class uk version (normally supermarket burgers and shitty frozen sausage over direct coal).. need pointers for smoking (equipment n stuff)

A very nice  SMALL grill but buy the  model with the latching cover.

This is the first time I barbeque by myself during the day, and I feel it is interesting to barbeque by myself. Do you think it's fun to grill alone?
