In the other hand the piano I always wanted: the Yamaha Hybrid NU1X. I didn't think about it for long, sold the watch, bought the piano and I regret nothing. The piano gives me pleasure every day and the watch is something I would've tired of after a while. Easy choice, if you ask me.

I did it at times on my Yamaha NU1X. The way it works is the pedals send midi signals the same way as the keys and so in your iPad app you may be able to configure Midi and say that "this specific midi signal flips pages forward" and then you play the middle pedal. This of course requires a way to get midi signals from your piano to your ipad and the way I did it was using a bluetooth-midi dongle. Works very well.

NU1X has an upright-style action that feels different to a grand piano. If that’s what you want then no problem but most people would aim for the grand style action I think as an upright action is in itself a compromise due to space limitations. As far as sounds go, I personally am not a fan of any sampled piano I’ve come across due main to lack of sustain and sympathetic resonance etc.

Unfortunately this is a highly subjective thing, also depends a lot on *which* piano. N1X and NV10S qualify as the closes thing because they have acoustic-grand-like action.

FWIW I chose to get a hybrid piano (Yamaha NU1X) and would recommend considering one. You get the actual, real mechanical key action of a professional grade acoustic, and a very high end and expressive digital sound.
