Yamaha SR-B20A Review

I had no idea that sound bars could be such a rabbit hole. I need to take advantage of my xbox's use of Dolby Atmos. I can't wait to play Horizon 5 with 4k 120 FPS, OLED, with great sound. From my understanding the TV does have Dolby Atmos support, but does the soundbar need to directly support it as well? 

Most components (aside from sound bar and subwoofer) should be wireless. Price is not an issue.

Best Soundbar for LG C1 65"? The TV will be used for gaming and streaming shows. LG vs. Bose vs. Sonos vs. Samsung. Too many options, feeling a bit overwhelmed.

I don't care to create a "home theatre experience", I just want to have very good picture quality with decent sound. Also, I wanted to keep things simple, didn't want multiple units which I'd have to place somewhere. So I ended up with this soundbar, which fits nicely in front of the big Samsung QN90A tv, without obscuring anything or needing a lot of space.  I connected it using a good HDMI cable to the tv's ARC port, and went through the basic settings: not much complexity or hassle

  Result: the soundbar was clearly better, producing a deeper richer sound with nice but not overwhelming bass (to me this is a good thing). Overall I was happy to keep it to enhance my AV entertainment.  Now, is it worth about $150? Probably. If I were to rethink the decision, would I have paid more for a soundbar with better sound? Maybe

 Then I watched a few minutes of several different blu-ray discs, some with big orchestral sound. I did A-B comparison with the tv, and also asked a family member to opine.  Result: the soundbar was clearly better, producing a deeper richer sound with nice but not overwhelming bass (to me this is a good thing). Overall I was happy to keep it to enhance my AV entertainment

 The move falls in line with the beyond the living room mantra, as well as the streamlined simplicity. Yamaha wants to make it easy to plug and play regardless of where you'll be using the b20a in the house. Theoretically, most people will only need that single hdmi arc port to smoothly connect their tv and soundbar. I get that

 If you're looking for a more pronounced low end, the bar does have a subwoofer output to allow for a powered woofer to enter the mix. [ Music, ], [, Music, ] yamaha's srb20a may have tweaked its design but ultimately retained the affordability and overall sound quality that made the yas 109 a success, but with the older bar still around and offering better features at a similar price, the b20a becomes something of A hard sell in this price range all technology gets outdated at some point, but i don't think basic connections like hdmi or optical audio are going anywhere soon for a budget option. The b20a should hold on to its relatively versatile compatibility for some time. Only if you're set on getting the newest sound bar yamaha has available

Would love if anyone had any good recommendations for a decent soundbar around the $300-500 mark? Could go a bit higher if it's really worth the jump.

Soundbar recommendations

 Mine is simply resting on the TV stand so it's possible this would not be so noticeable if it was wall mounted. Either way value for money this is a great add on and makes a HUGE difference to the vocal sound quality especially considering how feeble the TV speakers are. I'd give this a 4 out of 5 rating for sure but again it's the only one I've listened to.

 The instructions were not well laid out but it doesn't take long to juggle with the controls and fathom out how this unit works. The extra base feature does seem to create some sound distortion depending on what your listening to but you can always back it off a tad to compenstate for this. Hello! This is my first time purchasing a soundbar/any audio equipment. I’m getting a Hisense U8G (4K HDR, eARC, Dolby Atmos) and am wondering what soundbar to purchase for my ~140 Sq Ft living area. Do I need satellite speakers/subwoofer? It’s just me in my apartment, and would use it for mainly gaming/movies and music facing TV head-on. Would like to be under $400 if at all possible but can work around that. I’m not an audiophile at all, I don’t know if it’s important if I hit all the specs considering I want to go on the cheaper end. I have no idea what to expect audio-wise so I’m kinda new to all of this but figured I’d ask. Any help is appreciated thank you!

Help picking out first soundbar/system!

 The remote works but I can not tell where volume is set. It is easy to max out. Also the clear voice feature is not aggressive. Once again there is no indicator I can see, so I end up toggling and guessing if it is on or not

 The lower mids, say around a bowed cello are thin. Overall it is an improvement over the Samsung tv's audio side, but the price point hurts. For sure it is an energy saving move. Instead of feeding a big old receiver and massive speakers we get along for the most part with this

I'm planning on buying a CX/C1 during black Friday and a series x, ps5 too and need a soundbar to fit under my TV.

Don't really have a price limit but some soundbar prices in my country are ridiculous (sennheiser ambeo goes for \~4k usd here) so lets say \~1k usd but I can stretch it higher if I think its worth it for me.

Basically since my room isn't symmetrical and I plan on placing my TV next to the wall I wont have space for side firing speakers, so bars like 950a are out.

Don't know if I can get surround satellites since they'll have to sit on the sofa itself and I have no room behind it. If you think I can still benefit from them even though they wont be at ear level etc then I'll consider getting a soundbar packaged with them.

I was kind of looking at the klipsch cinema series but heard it has issues with EQ etc.

I added some simple schematics to get a feel for what my living room is like. The 1.45m is from the wall until the door, so the soundbar has to fit in that space.
