Hello. I have had a Razer Ornata keyboard for about 4-5 years and it's starting to feel worn, so I want to change it. I had it since even before I had a desktop pc, and I was using it with my laptop. I have looked through the wiki and I couldn't find anything useful for me. Also I googled for keyboards simillar to Razer Ornata and I only found old posts with links to keyboards that were no longer in stock. I found Corsair K68 keyboard (but it's old), and Razer BlackWidow v3 pro but I want to see a couple more options. Also, from what I saw on this subreddit the best keyboards are not always from big brands, but unfortunately in Romania I can't find any keyboards from smaller brands in our local stores (only on Amazon, but shipping can take very long)  
  
  
  
So a good keyboard for me would be one that has good software (preferably working on Linux, but I can find workarounds if not), not buggy or slow, and I like good rgb customization but it's not a must. A couple of months ago I bought a Leopold FC750R second hand modded with different switches and band aid mod. I haven't used it since I've bought it, but I noticed very weird behavior.  

The keyboard works on Windows, but when the Caps Lock key is pressed, the keyboard goes haywire. For an example, after that key has been pressed and I press the S button, on Windows, it opens Office. Also, the keyboard locks up software wise, and only allows a few switches to be used but not with the intentional function. 

I am aware that there are DIP Switches, these are turned off. 

I am a bit lost with this. Anyone can help me?

I’m a fan of the floating key cap design (think hyper x or drop alt) because it’s easier to clean and it doesn’t hurt my wrists (I don’t like wrist rests).  

Am I sacrificing on sound if I have my switches exposed? What if I went with a silent switch like the silent alpaca or the boba u4?

Can anyone else with this board confirm whether or not this is normal or if maybe I got a bad batch with extra thin key caps? My last Leopold didn’t have this issue and it was half the price, although it is double shot unlike the FC660C.

Ideally I'm looking for a board with a white case (either plastic or aluminum), hotswap (5 pin), south-facing LEDs, and preferably screw-in stabilizers (but plate mount is fine). I know the GMMK Pro is a thing but I was wondering if anyone had some more recommendations that I might've missed? Also, I'd love to just hear what your favorite keyboard in general is if you want to share :)

Has anyone here ever used a KBDfans NIU Mini 40% keyboard? I am thinking about getting one because of its simple and strain-free design. Is this a correct assertion? How is the feel? Is it inconvenient having to press layer keys in order to use programming keys such as brackets and parenthesis? It seems like a great board because you don't have to move your hands very much in order to type keys. I have also considered the split style ortholinear keybaords, are those any good and is [keeb.io](https://keeb.io) reputable? Thank you. I definitely would love to try an ortholinear keyboard because it will correct some of my bad typing habits such as typing z with ring finger, x with middle finger, c with index finger, etc. Thank you.

I was thinking of getting the Logitech G512 at Best Buy but they sold out. I also heard this keyboard is loud based on other posts I read. I was wondering is there any keyboards that are better? maybe that is roughly 50$ (can be higher or lower just around this price) that looks similar since I really like the look of the g512.

Keycap set suggestions for Drop Ctrl? I recently bought a Keychron K4 v2 and wanted to swap the keycaps, I so I bought [these keycaps from amazon](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08156NG7K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I noticed my spacebar seems to occasionally get stuck on the rise.

It seems to work fine if I put the old keycap on but the new one has some sticking issues it seems? I was wondering if it was a lubing issue (maybe the little black + housings on the sides?) I would hate if it was a bent bar or something since the board is brand new.

Hey guys, I just reserved the GMMK Pro and it will be my first mech keyboard that I will be customizing. I would like to be prepared to work on it immediately after I get in in mail. Was wondering if there's anything that I should purchase to finish the build successfully.

I already know I should get switches and keycaps, which I got already.

I'm also thinking of getting krytox lube, switch film, switch opener, and sorbothane foam.

Are these all necessary parts, and what else should I get to finish the customization?

Looking for keyboard recommendation

I'm canadian so my options are limited but a good example of a keyboard that i would like is a Leopold FC750R. I want a Tenkeyless layout and i rather have quality over flashy features like backlighting, i would like it to be as minimalist as possible, it's a good bonus if there are no visible logos on it.

I don't mind much about the keycaps quality since i'm probably gonna buy custom ones to replace the default keys.

My budget is 175$ CAD which is around 135$ USD.

I could consider building my own keyboard if that could make me have a better quality/price ratio. But from what i've seen there aren't many tenkeyless DIY keyboards.

Where is the "proper" place to buy cherry plate mount stabilizers? I bought a drop alt I'd like to update/clip (first time) when it arrives. The stabilizers seem to be a few bucks on novelkeys, but are unavailable currently. The other place I found is [monstargear](https://www.monstargears.com/), but the total comes to $25 for 3 2u, 1 6.25u. Is this a typical price to pay?

I really like the 1800 look and feel, because that's what I have on my laptop, bit I can't find it outside of group buys. I figured a 75% with Fn keys and a set of directional keys combined with a numpad was the best bet.

I currently have a Razer Lycosa that is finally giving up after about 7/8 years and I've been wanting to try a mechanical one for some time.

Thoughts? Will use it both for gaming and uni/work.

Read about ducky freedom but it seems to be cancelled.
